'Spirit of Upset'

Despite the brutal schedule of the pre-Super Tuesday endgame, Senator Barack Obama seemed crisp and inspired this afternoon throughout his 35-minute address at the Meadowlands here.

The crowd of 3,000 did not fill the 20,000-seat stadium, and it was smaller than the throngs of 12,000 to 20,000 that he has drawn in other states. Supporters attributed this in part to the timing, location and snowy weather.

"Supporters attributed this in part to the timing, location and snowy weather."

Excuses, excuses.

I would have stayed away too when it's Obama.

If it had been Clinton nothing would have kept me away. I would just put on my skies or snow shoes. :-D

McClatchy Washington Bureau:

"The overall portrait is of a lifelong, selfless do-gooder. The whole story is more complicated"and less flattering.

Clinton worked at the Children"s Defense Fund for less than a year, and that"s the only full-time job in the nonprofit sector she"s ever had. She also worked briefly as a law professor.

Clinton spent the bulk of her career"15 of those 35 years"at one of Arkansas" most prestigious corporate law firms, where she represented big companies and served on corporate boards.

Neither she nor her surrogates, however, ever mention that on the campaign trail. Her campaign Web site biography devotes six paragraphs to her pro bono legal work for the poor but sums up the bulk of her experience in one sentence: "She also continued her legal career as a partner in a law firm."

As I wrote to a good friend who is a Hillary voter, I don't see this as a zero-sum game; some of us will vote for Barack, some for Hillary. I don't think one needs to be trashed at the expense of the other. (Most of us wish we could vote for BOTH, and there's at least a chance that might still happen!) Either way, our party will have a magnificent, history-making, WINNING nominee!

I am listening to Barack Obama's 2004 Democratic National Convention Keynote Address, "The Audacity of Hope" while reading this article and replies.

I believe the hope of Barack Obama has been hijacked by political opportunists and carpetbaggers.
These political hijackers of the American Dream are the major donors and sponsors of his presidential campaign and his hope has nothing to do with the legacy of the Kennedys, because Barack Obama is not the new JFK or another MLK.
Barack Obama is Barack Obama and he should not become the political stooge of the political power brokers in their power struggle for the American Empire.

Barack Obama must first set himself free from these political opportunists and carpetbaggers.

God bless America.

Democrats have to be realistic or we will blow it big time again. Obama has very little chance of winning a general election- America, by and large is still way too narrowminded and conservative to elect a black man for president. As much as I may like him, and as much as I might dislike Hillary Clinton, I have to vote for her because I think she may have a better chance against McCain. With Obama, McCain is going to win by default. Face it, the DNC blew it already by not backing Edwards- so now we are stuck with Hillary. Don't throw your vote away today by voting for Obama.

I caught a 'snippet' of Obama's statements at a rally yesterday. He actually stated that everyone in America with a JOB shouldn't be poor.

How is he going to accomplish this? Wage controls? Living wage BS???

I just want to see America prosper again without being mired by right-wing psychosis and "moral" issues that belong in the 18th Century.

Are you talking to me? Are you talking to me? Yes, I am Mr. De Niro. I am also listening. We will "change" things on Super Tuesday, just like the Giants changed things to upset the Patriots perfect season. Hillary thought it was going to be a perfect campaign, but then somebody named Barack Obama came into the picture. And HE didn't vote for the Iraq war resolution and still not accept responsibility for that vote like Hillary does. Obama was ALWAYS against the war. Also, Obama didn't vote yes for the Kyl/LIEberman bill about Iran like Hillary did recently. The NIE reprt really made Dumbya Bu$h, Hillary and all the YES voters look like idiots. How many more mistakes will Hillary make when she goes into the White House on DAY ONE? Well, I'm not giving her the chance, along with all of her Corprate America lobbyist money. I'm taking a CHANCE on Obama, for CHANGE.

In Obamas stump speech he says that he never supported the war in Iraq. That is a lie. When he wasn't missing votes, he was voting to support the funding for the war in Iraq. Obama has and contiues to support the war. Obama needs to get his facts straight.
