I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Chris Matthews

New York Observer:

Chris Matthews woke up on Super Tuesday at the Ritz Carlton on Central Park South. For breakfast, he tore into a bowl of Raisin Bran with skim milk, slurped down a cup of coffee (no cream, no sugar) and attacked a stack of newspapers. Moving from story to story, he scribbled notes directly onto the newsprint, circling important facts and figures and jotting down the occasional exclamation points. He particularly liked an article in the Daily News by Rich Cohen suggesting that Barack Obama should be president, and Hillary Clinton his chief of staff.

Mr. Matthews underlined the phrases "flag burning illegal," and "her vote was politically motivated." He tore out the article to review later that day.

Afterward, MSNBC's prizefighter--the political pundit who knows more and filters less than anyone else in the business and who with his manic emotional odes to a certain senator from Illinois has become a fascinating sideshow attraction in this crazy primary circus--had hoped to go for a morning constitutional. Surviving Super Tuesday would take stamina, he knew. Adrenaline would be the key. And a little exercise wouldn't hurt. Twenty-four hours earlier, he had gotten lost during a walk in Central Park, ending up on the West Side, thinking it was the East Side, thinking up was down. He was amazed at how disorienting it was. Not like the stomping grounds of his youth in Philadelphia. The streets reminded him of a campaign he had worked on in 1974 in Brooklyn.

...

"I've been following politics since I was about 5," said Mr. Matthews. "I've never seen anything like this. This is bigger than Kennedy. [Obama] comes along, and he seems to have the answers. This is the New Testament. This is surprising."

CM is now called Gush Attwaater. Maybe he can get a job as office manager for a group of orthodonts in Notrhern NJ when his program is cancelled or he could become the new Joe Franklin.

Unwatchable and insulting to intelligent, thinking beings. Only Dan Abrams show on MSNBC has any journalistic integrity left. And by that I mean, quesioning both candidates' rhetoric and distortions. Obama is hardly a saint. Cable news is a show now, not news. And they do a poor job of analyzing poll numbers and framing them in any way possible as favoring Obama and this media-created MOMENTUM.

Hillary supporters are so negative, I just don't get it??? California independents were not allowed to vote because of discrepancy in ballot choice and, as a result, Hillary pulled off a win. This is going to divide the party and anger voters to the extent that if she is the nominee you can bet independents are going to go to McCain. I think it is sad how the Clinton's, the DLC candidates, have resorted to any and all means to get power back. Even jeopardizing the party and threatening those super delegates who don't go their way!!!

Next they will be going after the Florida and Michigan delegates. Very sad!

ah, gee, isn't it terrible... chris matthews can't just sit there and read the news with an inscrutable expression.

where is the required impassive facade YOU deem necessary? should he just sit there and report on totally bland political positions?

boy, that would really attract listeners; he should stop giving those little 'insider' peeks through washingtons back door. he knows more history of the way washington works, who gets along with who, who stopped/blocked what bills and why, and if you think that does not count when making policy decisions you are just kidding yourself. don't you want to know what drives these people?

if you are going to fox news as an alternative in order to find "fair and balanced" reporting you should share whatever it is you are smoking.

read david brook's post in the nytimes, it might give you some insight as to why the 'media' has issues with the clintons.

maybe you just don't like watching someone who actually loves politics and his job... is kind of a rare thing actually, all that enthusiasm and no phony veneer of passivity.

Give Matthews a break; he is a brilliant strategist who did extensive work for Tip O'Neill-- and by the way-- as of the day after Super Tues.-- -more repubs have been tiradind transparently on our beloved Huff Post- you guys will stoop to rovian levels to get hillary nominated because you can't face the truth--- you'll lose -- so leave the brilliant Matthews and Olbermann alone--

Please contact MSNBC and tell them to end the bias against Sen. Clinton. Go to MSNBC web page and Contact them. They are all going crazy with their personal hatred of Clinton. Even Olbermann is drinking the kool-aid. So much for being a fair news organization.

If Mathews thinks Obama is the new Jesus Christ then I'm against Jesus/Obama. Anything Mathews is for has to be bad, insane and as arrogant as that self loving idiot.

We should all get a petition going to send to their sponsors saying we will boycott their products if we don't start getting balanced and accurate news!

Obama doesn't have ANY answers. As usual, Christ Matthews is full of it. His disdain for Hillary blinds him.

This guy is the biggest obnoxious loser and his pathetic attempt at directing perception through his media platform and his blatant bias against and disdain for Hillary Clinton, as others in the media of similar ilk, are driving many of us who were on the fence into Clinton's camp. Many of us resent the media's role in its pile on in trying to create the storyline in this election as opposed to reporting it and the raking over the coals of Clinton with a virtual free pass to Obama. Give us balanced reporting and we'll figure it out. Keep it up, though, Tweeety, cause you're doing wonders for Hillary Clinton's campaign. You wanted to know what explains it - it's the backlash, stupid.

Please, someone in MSNBC, REMOVE Mathews from analysis, repace him with Dan. Pat Buchanan , is great, not that we have the same view. Olberman is becoming annoying also.

Otherwise, CNN I watch !

He's just a big bag of wind. It's kind of sad, though, because of his unprofessional, crude behaviour, MSNBC might as well be FOX. Network news reports are the only way to go, especially Brian Williams and Charles Gibson.
Give me the facts, please, just the facts...give me the news, please, just the news.

Mathews/Olbermann...I won't comment further on how pathetic these two pea brains are...Just check their ratings..at the bottom of all cable news shows, the 11.00 O'Reilly rerun even thrashes them!
