Super Tuesday: The Day After

The Obama, Clinton and McCain camps came out swinging after yesterday's Super Tuesday elections. They went after their opponents and tried to manage "down" certain expectations.

Barack Obama went after Clinton's electability in the general election by pointing out that the GOP will have tons of dirt on her.

Asked about Clinton's recent comment that she would not allow herself to be victimized by the type of Swift Boat-style attacks that were leveled against Sen. John Kerry in the 2004 race, Obama said he had been vetted by his opponent in the nominating campaign.

"I have to just respond by saying that the Clinton research operation is about as good as anybody's out there," he said.

"I assure you that having engaged in a contest against them for the last year that they've pulled out all the stops. And you know I think what is absolutely true is whoever the Democratic nominee is the Republicans will go after them. The notion that somehow Senator Clinton is going to be immune from attack or there's not a whole dump truck they can't back up in a match between her and John McCain is just not true."

Hillary Clinton's top aides told a conference call with reporters that she'll be outspent by Barack Obama.

In a teleconference with reporters, Clinton chief strategist Mark Penn said Clinton was having a "record day" raising money over the Internet on Wednesday.

"We will have funds to compete," he said, "but we're likely to be outspent again."

Asked whether Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, had decided to dip into their own wealth to finance the campaign, Penn said, "I'm not aware that they have." Campaign communications director Howard Wolfson said he would inquire. The Clinton's financial disclosures, which reveal only broad ranges of assets, place their wealth between $10 million to $50 million.

John McCain told his conservative critics to back off and "calm down."

"I think they've made their case against me pretty eloquently," he said, adding wryly, "if that's the right word." He asserted that the pundits' conservative hero Ronald Reagan -- and his -- reached across the aisle to Democrats just like he wants to do as president.

"I do hope that at some point we would just calm down a little bit and see if there are areas that we can agree on for the good of the party and for the good of the country," he said. The critics argue he's too liberal for the party.

Above we have a great example of the results of Clinton oppo "research" in action.

I think the Clinton folk see that Obama has the momentum and are getting more desperate and shrill. "Say anything and change nothing"!!!

I honestly think that the Clintons need not use their personal funds. Once they run out of money, they ought to just congratulate Obama and we can all rally around him and his pick for V.P.

If they don't do that, I am afraid they would go bankcrupt.

Obama supporters are a little gitty right about now, and they are going nowhere fast.

While I am not crazy about seeing all the Obamaphiles and Hillarities going for each other's respective jugular, I do relish in witnessing how excited we all are about a candidate. I actually liked Kerry but he lacked charisma. These two do have something that obviously ignites the party. Yea or Nay people: We all get together in November no matter the candidate?

Here we go. The "E" word is creeping in. The whole is Obama electable? The Democrats have crushed the GOP in terms of the number of votes cast for Hillary and Barack yet now the Clinton spinisters are whispering that Obama is not electable. Wow, sounds like the race card again.

Listen a black man will have the same problems that a woman has in November, however with the number of voters on the Democratic side voting for change, both Hillary and Barack supporters, I think the electability issue is just stupid. Those voters who yearn for an end to the GOP machine will support the Democrat in this election. Both Hillary and Barack are right that this party will be united to beat the GOP in November.

On a side note, as an Obama supporter, Clinton won states that the Democratic nominee is going to win anyway, especially in this election. CA, NY, NJ and Mass is unlikely to not go Blue because of Obama. Just because they voted Clinton does not mean they will abandon the Democrats in this election. ]

Anyone spinning that tune does not know anything about politics. For the record, voters turned out in record breaking numbers in "red states" to vote for Barack. That tells you something. I know Black folk in the Northeast and Califonia have their doubts, but 45% of white voters in Georgia voting for Obama, plus carrying Missouri is testament to Obama's electability. And last I heard with the record numbers of Democrats voting in Kansas, North Dakota, Minn.--- there aren't alot of Black folks in those states. Kill that silent electability noise right now.

YES WE CAN!

Mark Penn could loan them some money, if the Clinton's are elected again I'm sure his lobbying firm would experience quite a windfall.

She never said she would be "immune" from Republican attacks. She said she would be ready for them. The Obama camp engages in misquoting and word-twisting all the time yet they act like they are somehow different from other politicians. Obama would not have achieved the level of victory he did on Super Tuesday without playing down-and-dirty, harball politics. I'm so tired of this nonsense people keep spouting about how the Republicans are going to visciously attack the Dems if Hillary is the nominee. Hello? They are going to be just a viscious if Obama is the nominee. Let's not kid ourselves. And this fantasy people have of nice-guy politics is just that. Whomever wins the nomination is going to have to be smarter and more viscious than the other side or they will lose. Such is the state of politics in this country.

Um...those aren't really what you'd call attacks. The media's just aching for a fight that's not happening among Democrats.
