I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Vice President Dick Cheney offered an aggressive, unwavering defense of the Bush administration's legacy at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Thursday, after taking the stage to a chant of "Four more years!"

"The President has made the right decisions for the right reasons and he always reflected the values of the American people," Cheney declared, "Would I support those same decisions today? You're damn right I would."

The crowd was adoring. There was a standing ovation as Cheney entered, and a woman shouting: "We Love You!" Attendees clamored for a good "Cheney shot," with one young conservative pumping his fist after catching an unobstructed wide lens take of the Vice President on his camera.

And they got some red meat. Well more than half of Cheney's address was focused on national security and terrorism. Some of the biggest applause lines, and there were many, came when he discussed the interrogation of detainees in Guantanamo Bay.

"We have gathered a wealth of information that has foiled attacks against the United States. Information that has saved thousands of lives," he said, before adding, "We do not torture. It is against our laws and our values."

No mention was made of waterboarding, a controversial tactic, which the CIA has acknowledged it used on at least three occasions.

In the same vein, Cheney urged Congress to pass a revamped version of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. The bill has been held up over opposition to a provision that would grant telecom companies immunity for helping the government's warrantless wiretapping program.

"We are asking Congress to make these revisions permanent and provide liability protections to those companies that are believed to have helped America since 9/11," said Cheney. "Those who act in good faith to defend this country should not be punished by lawsuit or hassle of trial lawyers."

Story continues below

Mostly, however, Cheney continued to beat the war on terror drums. Some choice quotes include:

"The fact is the danger remains very real and we know the terrorists are determined still to hit us."

"The absence of another 9/11 is not an accident it is an achievement."

"One of the lessons of 9/11 was we had to stop treating terrorist attacks merely as law enforcement problems... the world changed with a coordinated attack which ended the lives of 3,000 people."

"The important thing to remember is that six-and-a-half years after 9/11 is that the war on terror is still real. It won't be won on the defensive and we have to proceed on many fronts at the same time."

"The freedoms we enjoy, the rights we exercise, all the privileges we have in this country - none of them can be taken for granted."

The crowd loved it, and him. As Cheney said upon entering the room to a grand applause:

"A welcome like that is almost enough to make me want to run for office again."

Wish the UN would levy charges since our Senators & reps are Co- Conspirators. I should think the rest of the world would rather have the original version of US back on track too.
OUR FOUNDING PRINCIPLES MAY BE THE ONLY THING THAT CAN BRING THE CORP'IST TO THERI KNEES- and once again be a TOOL of MAN, not the Master of man.World wide Indentured slavery brought to you by Corporationists.

Screw an American once with the trickle down theory with Reagan’s first term they want more.

Screw an American twice: Reagan’s second term they want more

Screw Americans three times by electing Reagan’s VP saying he will not raise taxes then raise them. Your outer there bush sr. you violated the cardinal sin you raised taxes. Mega military budget who cares taxes for social programs your outer there.

The compassionate Americans. Yea right.

Screw Americans four times under the guise of free trade: install free trade agreements and sell American jobs overseas. Actually give tax breaks to corporations for eliminating American jobs.

Screwed again they reelect slippery Willie for screwing them.

Then the biggest screw of all. Americans elected the idiot and incompetent son of George bush sr. Americans loved his screwing so much they elected him for a second term.

And now the new repub candidate wants a 100-year war and the demo candidate voted for the war.

Moral of story: Americans love to be screwed. Now they can get screwed if either Hillary or mc Cain wins. God bless America.

This creature is a subhuman specie of vermin, a truly miserable wretch. Should he be asked if he would dodge the draft again; asked if he would impregnate his wife because Selective Service stopped excluding husbands but not fathers from the draft; and asked whether he would, as de facto president, send the children of others to Iraq to fight his war of choice, suffering horrible, disfiguring injuries, and death, his answers clearly would all be the same: Your damned right I would.

Why wouldn't he? He made a ton of cold hard cash off the dead bodies of the Iraqis, not to mention our own troops, and NOTHING happened to him for it.

Cheney is a disgusting excuse for a human being and will not regret his actions until they affect HIM.

That is because Satan is consistently evil. If he were to do something sane and positive, that would cause his head to go into a massive seizure and explode. He is the most dispicable piece of human excrement ever to walk in a semi-upright position.

How's that for a demonstration of disgust???

These people have perpetrated crimes against humanity and are getting away with it!

I cannot believe we are living in this time, with those mass-murdering psychos chain-ye-and-shrub, and they are going to waltz off to mega-millions and retirement and all those countries in chaos, all those hundreds of thousands dead, torture, murder, destruction...
FUCK CPAC.

Cheney has his followers and well-compensated loyalists, I'm not one of them...I think he should be thrown out of office. I think the man's a walking, talking, conflict of interest,
I think anyone that owns/owned an oil company that essentially has warmaking powers AND gets to set energy 'policy' just has too much going on to be able to do their job honestly.

I totally agree that Cheney should be held accountable. But unless Pelosi stops blocking
the Wexler hearings, that wexler petition does
no good.

He's already presented the signatures.
Here's the petition that needs to be passed
around and signed:

Dick Cheney is a marked man, and he damned well
knows it. This pathetic Congress is ignoring the
efforts of Wexler's committee and the Kucinich bill to impeach.

Pathetic, pathetic, pathetic!

Sign the damn thing!

Actually the phrase is
DOG EAT DOG WORLD

Often confused like
Mares eat Oats and Does eat Oats and little Lambs eat Ivy.

I had thought that was the saying too- until I moved to the West coast (talk about living likea Pitbull at Vicks- since moved back to MI- not much better really NOW- must be contagious or an insidious doctrine that has been used to High jack our Country- GREED...Vanity,Envy,Sloth, gluttony, Pride, WRATH.

Why doesnt Dicko let us send him to GITMO and let the people try waterboarding on him for a couple of months just to see how many crimes he and the rest of the white house losers have commited onto us in the last 8 yrs. Shit i bet it would take a good couple of months for him to get thru all of them.
Heres to waterboarding our current administration.

Don Quixote, errrr, I mean Dick Cheney, of course would never admit he was wrong. The psycholcogical shift that would follow would implicate him in all manner of crime, greed, subterfuge, and anti-American activities. He's incorrigible. That's what makes a Neocon.
