Vice President Dick Cheney offered an aggressive, unwavering defense of the Bush administration's legacy at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Thursday, after taking the stage to a chant of "Four more years!"

"The President has made the right decisions for the right reasons and he always reflected the values of the American people," Cheney declared, "Would I support those same decisions today? You're damn right I would."

The crowd was adoring. There was a standing ovation as Cheney entered, and a woman shouting: "We Love You!" Attendees clamored for a good "Cheney shot," with one young conservative pumping his fist after catching an unobstructed wide lens take of the Vice President on his camera.

And they got some red meat. Well more than half of Cheney's address was focused on national security and terrorism. Some of the biggest applause lines, and there were many, came when he discussed the interrogation of detainees in Guantanamo Bay.

"We have gathered a wealth of information that has foiled attacks against the United States. Information that has saved thousands of lives," he said, before adding, "We do not torture. It is against our laws and our values."

No mention was made of waterboarding, a controversial tactic, which the CIA has acknowledged it used on at least three occasions.

In the same vein, Cheney urged Congress to pass a revamped version of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. The bill has been held up over opposition to a provision that would grant telecom companies immunity for helping the government's warrantless wiretapping program.

"We are asking Congress to make these revisions permanent and provide liability protections to those companies that are believed to have helped America since 9/11," said Cheney. "Those who act in good faith to defend this country should not be punished by lawsuit or hassle of trial lawyers."

Mostly, however, Cheney continued to beat the war on terror drums. Some choice quotes include:

"The fact is the danger remains very real and we know the terrorists are determined still to hit us."

"The absence of another 9/11 is not an accident it is an achievement."

"One of the lessons of 9/11 was we had to stop treating terrorist attacks merely as law enforcement problems... the world changed with a coordinated attack which ended the lives of 3,000 people."

"The important thing to remember is that six-and-a-half years after 9/11 is that the war on terror is still real. It won't be won on the defensive and we have to proceed on many fronts at the same time."

"The freedoms we enjoy, the rights we exercise, all the privileges we have in this country - none of them can be taken for granted."

The crowd loved it, and him. As Cheney said upon entering the room to a grand applause:

"A welcome like that is almost enough to make me want to run for office again."

When pressed, Dick Cheney also assured the CPAC that he would also shoot poor old Harry Whittington in the face again. Cheney finished his thought by adding "and if he doesn't like it, he can go f*ck himself." The crowd of ultra conservatives roared with approval.

Of course he would do it again, Pelosi gave him a blank check to do it now. He isn't accountable to anyone, he is above the law.

Hey DICK, Go Fuck Yourself!

And same goes for you, Pelosi and co.... the Dems are so nutless on this that it will be all I can do to vote for their candidate. As an Independant I am sickened by my options. Hillary can't admit that her vote was a mistake. If she can't admit mistakes then she is in good company with Dick Cheney and his lies.... I am sure that Hillary will find a way to smear the hell out of Obama and, since she doesn't have any visible principles that out wiegh career politics, she will continue to lie about and misrepresent her past while witholding documentation that would clear things up for us undecides....

I don't believe that for a minute. I think the one thing that Hillary Clinton (more than anyone else in this WORLD) knows for sure when it comes to dealing with Republicans: TIMING IS EVERYTHING. They want to destroy her because they KNOW if anyone can destroy THEM, it would be HER. Her supporting the President then, was a show of mutual good faith. If she had come out against him then-with the tone of the country based in utter fear-Republicans could have plucked her off then. EASILY. Any clever strategist could see why Hillary voted the way she did, and her explanation holds up as far as I'm concerned. And, truthfully what better way to take the fuckers down that have messed with her for her entire political life? TREASON, WAR CRIMES, public hangings in the town square? I'm telling you people, she's got a WAR CHEST of information she's waiting to unload, and the dialogue it will FORCE the Mainstream Media to deal with, is what is forcing her demise-and Obama's rise. She's been building her case for years. Her opening statement is ready. This next debate is surely going to spice it up.

The obsession with Hillary saying her vote was a mistake is belabored. Suppose she was to say, NOW, that her vote THEN was a mistake? What would the outcome be?

1) She would be criticized for not having good judgement and that it doesn't matter how much experience she has if she doesn't employ good judgement.

2) She would be criticized for caving in to so many people, both sides of the aisles and those wandering around aimlessly in between, who have been harassing her with the same question, baiting her with the same hypotheticals, hoping she'd finally cave and give them the soundbyte they want and can exploit. They

3) She would be criticized for caving under pressure, and then the GOP and the ObamaLoons would cite that as proof she couldn't handle the pressure of leading the nation or the free world.

4) The undercurrent would be she's a weak woman.

If she gives you what you claim YOU want to hear, it doesn't benefit her AT ALL and it doesn't benefit this nation at all. The vote was the vote. She can't change it. Giving you and the media and the Obama campaign and the GOP the soundbyte you're salivating for does not accomplish anything positive. If you're so independent and so fed up, then think though the Iran vote issue you're so hung up on. News folks, the world isn't black and white, no matter how hard you try to paint it so.

She's already a weak woman. A strong woman doesn't tolerate a serial cheater for a husband.

Why shouldn't Cheney say that he would do it again? What have the Democrats done to punish him for what he has done already? If I could make millions and millions oF dollars for myself without having to deal with the consequences or be tried for treason, I would do it AGAIN too!! Shame on the Democrats for not having the cojones to punish a president and a Veep who almost the entire country despises. Shame on them!!

OPERATION RESTORE TRUST

Now that one more tip of the iceberg is in your face America, only having been disclosed because it was coming out of the horse faster than they could pack it back. Now that the weight of the record is so overwhelming, it is clear that not one word uttered by this crew resembles truth in any form. Who now among us is still so naive as to believe that the NSA spy program that is gleaming data from every spec of communications from all of us, is for anything other than commercial gain and political leverage. Will you continue to fool yourselves America. This domestic spy program was established prior to 9/11. That record is clear. Lets pick a date with destiny America. Should our elected Constitutional officers fail to act in accordance with their sworn duty to uphold Our Constitution, Not later than April 1st 2008, Than we call on all Patriotic Americans to March on Washington D.C. and direct the Federal Law enforcement community to take into custody pending trail, all persons in the present administration and to Declare a Constitutional Convention on The True Patriots Day, April 19th 2008. For the purpose of Re-affirmation of the basic tenets of the Constitution of these United States and the Bill of Rights as written, and to further declare that this Nation, Our Nation, rejects the use of Torture on any Human Being. Further We the People will nullify the authority of all members of the Presently sitting Senate and U.S. Congress and establish a Date Certain for New Elections. "OPERATION RESTORE TRUST" is coming. There will be no more extensions granted. Do the Job you are swore to do, or We the People will remove you from your well feathered seats and accomplish the difficult task at hand.

Impeachment is a tough call, and even tougher to carry out. Conyers could kick the ball down the road instead of sitting on it(like I think he's basically been told to do), and Congressman Kucinich could step to the podium again. But, if you've read the news this last 2 years, all the money that's been blown out the door these last 6 years has momentum of its' own, and when people get into enough money, they pretty much forget about constitutional principles. Remember, it's just a piece of paper...

The only reason Cheney does not regret his errors is because it made him SO MUCH money. God save us from this ignorant, self absorbed putz. Please, please, try this guy for violating his oath and for committing acts of treason. Send him to GITMO.

and, man, what about these assholes that cheer him? They didnt make any money and their neighbors kids are dying. You would think they would catch onto this. But, then, normal everyday people in Germany denied the death camps even though they could smell them.
People believe what they want to believe.

Dick Cheney is the worst excuse for a Veep we've ever had. And, that's saying a LOT, considering the ones who've graced the halls since WWII.

Maybe, he'll go back to his residence in Wyoming. Oh wait, he really lives in Texas, you say??? Oh my, isn't that against the law to have both sides of a ticket be from the same state?

The man is a dangerous person with so much hatred in his heart for those who cross him. He needs to be held accountable for his actions.

His appearance before the CPAC group of megalomaniacs only serves to support the many claims of him being a loose cannon in a world full of expensive crystal.
