Eugene Michael Santiago: No Love for Eli
In an age where few professional athletes play the game the way we teach our children to play, we get upset that a good guy got the biggest bucks?

As a rabid Patriots fan I still think Eli and the Giants deserve so much praise. Eli is a class guy and that final drive was historical.
New England fans are mostly numb and speechless since the game. Hardly anyone is talking about it.
That loss just negated such a great season for the Patriots. It's like it never happened..
Bravo, GIANTS!
But hey, wait til next....ah
For me, the Super Bowl was riveting - in large part because so many Super Bowls have been blow-outs. I was walking back home from the Bacchus parade in New Orleans, along with thousands of my fellow New Orleanians -- we have our priorities straight, even if one of our own was quarterbacking the underdog Giants -- and saw several parties with large-screen TVs out in the yard which drew crowds from passersby. The fourth quarter was just starting. I got to watch Eli's fourth-quarter drives, including the winning touchdown. I think that Eli was holding back until the fourth quarter, so his home-town folk could see the good stuff.
Cheers!
I am sorry for the Patriots, and their fans, truly -- to have come so far and have it end that way. All the same I think anybody who watched the game has to agree that the Giants deserved the win. They consistently outplayed the Patriots throughout the game. On that given day they were the better team.
I love Eli but if you think he thought of that stuff himself or didn't know the setup preceeding it, you're out to lunch.
right, rigtht, he was faking the modesty and there's no way he could have come up with a quip- you are not too bright, are you?
Lssak-- I don't want to get into a debate about his modesty-- if you'll notice, I didn't say a thing about that. But I know the tv business and i know for a fact he was told what was going to be asked and had his answers prepared. Believe it or not, I care not. Just let's not give Eli credit for being the next hipquipster.
What the hell, Letterman doesn't ad lib all his stuff either. It's about the timing and the delivery. Eli handled his lines well.
How can I put this...wel
Modest, humble guy, from a modest, humble family.
Bravo Eli. You made my year.
Modest, humble guy. Yeah, right. That's why he refused to play outside of a "major market" area. He's a good quarterback, but let's not put him up for sainthood quite yet. Even money says he's back to his usual interception-laden self next season.
The guy just led a long-shot wild card team to the greatest upset in Super Bowl history and you have to piss on him. Some people are just unbelievable.
You know this draft business is shady. Imagine coming out of college as say, a doctor, and being forced forced to go work in, say, Boston. That would be inhuman.
Lihten up Enjoy life. You sound so bitter. Regarding the market - you gotta go for the best deal, which he did.
His old man did his time in NO with little to show for it. It's a business and Archie knew it and guided him to do what's best for himself, not the NFL..Smart
