Lieberman Superdelegate

Think Progress:

Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT), who endorsed Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) for president, will be disqualified as a superdelegate at the Democratic convention "under what is informally known as the Zell Miller rule." In 2004, Miller -- then a Democratic senator from Georgia -- attacked Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) in a speech at the Republican National Convention. The DNC "responded with a rule disqualifying any Democrat who crosses the aisle from being a super delegate."

Obama winns in Connecticut, am I surprised? Hell no. Obama crossed party lines to endorse Libermann over Ned Lemont. Obama is a sell out, I voted for Hillary, why? Because I know that there are 5 families that tells the planet what to think and do. Obama is dancing the dance. Hillary and Bill was put through hell and so were we. No Bill is not perfect but compared to W we are so much safer. Libermann and Obama there is a huge question mark just like Michael Jackson and children. I KNOW that Bill and Hillary will protect us, I feel that the republican party is sending money to Obama. Why? Because they have SO MUCH TO SPEND.

Uh, actually, you keep on repeating this but I can't find any evidence. Every account I read says that Obama withdrew his support from Lieberman to back LaMont. Why he backed Joe in the first place is irksome, but he made the right choice in the end.

I'm glad to hear it, Lieberman might as well switch his party to Republican

Lieberman, Feinstein, and Hillary are all the same ilk, pseudo democrats. Hillary was a republican when we she was growing up and later switched. Not sure if it was to help Bill run or not.

Yep, it is indeed about time.

Next should be stripping him off of his chairmanship. Harry Reid is such a weasel he is letting Lieberman stick his finger to the eye of the democratic electorate. After the November election Harry Reid should lose his job. He is so inept and embarassing.

truly, Obama crossed party lines to endorse Lieberman over Ned Lemont. Obama won in Conn., why? Because he endorsed LIEBERMAN OVER LEMONT. Obama has no respect for party lines, ask Joe Lieberman, his buddy. How great!

It's about time...he's nothing but a self-righteous, conceded, self-centered career politician...he'll swing whichever way suits him best!!!!

and he is the neck that turns McCaine's head. Poor ol' McCaine can't hardly turn it by himself. His wife certainly won't touch it. and behind Liberman is the Israeli Lobby.....

Well, he is no longer a Democrat. So what is the fuss about? Or did someone complain that HRC has lost a delegate?

It would be difficult to find a more despicable politician than Lieberman unless you include Bush-Cheney.

This religious fanatic would rather crush Israels neighbors than make peace with them.

He supports war in the middle east basically because he believes it would benefit Israels manifest destiny to conquer biblical territory that they feel once belonged to Israel.

Right now it is difficult to throw him out of the party completely since he holds the balance of power in the senate.

There are 49 republicans and 49 democrats and 2 independents, Lieberman and Sanders both caucus with the dems, if Lieberman withdraws his support the majority would swing to the republicans since the VP would cast the deciding vote.

I cannot wait till we get a clear majority in the senate and we can kick him out of our caucus into the warmongering republican side of the aisle.

Does this mean that there is no point to voting?

It's a start, now strip out all the super delegates entirely. The sort of thing would be understandable from the Republicans, it's obvious they hate democracy, but I would expect the Democrats to at least try to appear democratic.

Yea, lets change the rules just for the whiny Obama.

I guess Obama cannot win using the rules that have been in place for decades. So by all means strip the super delegates of their voting power so Obama can win.

Suddenly the same democracy that gave us Kennedy should be changed to accommodate a candidate that may not have their votes?

Obama and his backers are exhibiting a childish side that is disturbing. You can bet if the super delegates were in the majority for him, this discussion would not be happening.

Obama, and his backers have become real crybabies. Oh please don’t let Bill play too rough in the primary because it would be racial. Oh, and by the way, let’s toss out the super delegates because it looks like they may vote for Hillary.

Sorry folks. These rules may not be to your liking, but you have to abide by them just as every democrat has for as long as I can remember. You do not get to make up the rules as you go along. If you don’t like it, you can always join the party that always ignores/breaks the rules and the laws, they are called republiCONs.

Yeah, let's just forget about voting and let the pols who have been sucking up to the Clintons (and vice versa) choose who the president will be.

I think the Dems need to be semi nice to Lieberman until the election is over, then if they get a bigger majority, which they probably will, then they can strip him of his chairmanship, etc. For now, though, they need to keep him as chairmen to prevent him from switching parties and giving repubs majority status.
