Lieberman Superdelegate

Think Progress:

Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT), who endorsed Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) for president, will be disqualified as a superdelegate at the Democratic convention "under what is informally known as the Zell Miller rule." In 2004, Miller -- then a Democratic senator from Georgia -- attacked Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) in a speech at the Republican National Convention. The DNC "responded with a rule disqualifying any Democrat who crosses the aisle from being a super delegate."

About fucking time. This shithead should be stripped of all his committee seats as well.

Great. Now strip him of his citizenship and deport him to Israel, where he's already a citizen.

I don't think I like the whole super delegate idea. Just another way of rigging elections.

Bwahahahaha! There is a God.

Maybe Lieberman can just cross the aisle again, go to the Republican convention and vote for the war mongering, "stay in Iraq 100 years" McSenile.

Frigging little troll.

I agree but we all need to realize that our disgust with Lieberman is exactly how the conservatives feel about McCain. McCain is their Joe Lieberman. So with McCain as the GOP Presidential candidate, we can expect lots more venom to come at him from within his own party, which we have already seen. It won't stop either just like we haven't stopped attacking Lieberman. And that should delight us all and prevent McCain from beating either of the Dem candidates.

I did see a poll last year that said if the CT Senate election could be held again at that time, LIEberman would lose so he has burned all his bridges except with the GOP in CT and has no where to go anymore in that State since he will never get reelected again regardless of what party label he hangs on his name.

The end of Joe's political career can't come soon enough for me.

When McCain runs on Hillary or Obama's ticket, we'll be even.

He should have been stripped LONG before this. He's not a Democrat. I'm still angry about all these establishment Democrats who didn't help Ned Lamont.

Instead we have Joe Lieberman, holding the balance of power in the Senate. I am convinced that part of why the Democrats in the Senate are so timid on the wary is because they are afraid Lieberman will go caucus with the Republicans, giving them a majority.

How do I censure or "strip" establishment Democrats who did not help Ned Lamont, but tacitly endorsed Lieberman instead?

Finally a common sense decision.

It would have been asinine to allow Turncoat Joe to participate in the Nomination Process of the Democratic Party.

It would be nice if all of the DLC Coven were stripped of their Super Delegate status since they are all Trojan Horse Republicans.

Why is it that these people like Lieberman can hold dual nationality? Anyone else has to choose between their country of birth and the US. My daughter was born in England, at a USAF base. She had dual nationality until the age of 18, when she had to choose one or the other. Why do these people who are Israeli supporters have that special status? Look at Wolfowitz, Perle, Lieberman, all supporters of WAR to benefit Israel. If the Israelis would stop building on Palestinian land, there would be no war there. They are taking over everything and wonder why the Palestinians fight back.

Not only have they not had to decide between their US citizenships and Israeli citizenships they've been alowed to write U.S. middle eastern policy so that it benefits Israel at the expense of U.S. lives and U.S. taxpayer money.

She didn't HAVE to choose. She could have retained dual citizenship, millions of people do.

We were told it ends at 18. She had her own passport at the age of 3 months, US passport. Her father was active military, so didn't have a passport. My passport is British, and they said she could not be added to mine.

Smackin' Joe upside the head is the only good thing the DNC has done for Dems, imo, but this in no way makes up for the "superdelegate" BS which essentially nullifies the voices of millions in the party. I learned my lesson after the 2006 election, and will never again monetarily support that organization.

What about that Repub-in-Dem's-clothing Dianne Feinstein from CA? The idiots at the DNC forbade the People from slapping her wrist when she became a turncoat Cancervative. One look at DiFi's voting record, and you see she predominately votes AGAINST the will of the Dems. She is no Democratic representative and she should not be considered as such. Dianne's red has turned CA into a purple state.

While Joe is a well-known sleaze bag, the DNC ought to issue Dianne a sound ass-whoopin', and strip her of the Democratic title, also. Then, and ONLY then, will I lend an ear to their vacuous verbosity.

That's the way the system is designed. To prevent the "establishment" party bosses from having to deal with another "McGovern situation".

Feinstein still caucuses wth the dems, she IS a dem. If YOU don't like her politics, tough titties... move to CA and run against her. It's the people of CA that make that choice, and if you don't live there you got no room to bitch.

Voting for her is the only mistaken vote I've ever made - I regret it very much. But, she's in until 2012, I think. Some have pointed out, in my defense that she has moved from being a slightly liberal to centrist to slightly right of center to now, unabashedly Republican-Lite - you could miss the shift if you weren't paying enough attention. (And our media hasn't helped.) -sigh-

Good - although it will proabaly cost Obama a vote. Joe forfeited "Dem" party status when he chose to run as an Independent.

Makes sense. If a Republican with superdelegate status were to endorse a Democrat for president, he/she wouldn't even be permitted into a party event...what with their loyalty oaths and all.

It's too bad for Obama, because in politics as usual fashion, Lieberman would have undoubtedly voted for Obama for Obama's support for him in his election run against the anti-war candidate Lamont.

What are you smokin? he has been standing with McCain at all his fundraisers for the last six months. Obama never had his vote.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:23 PM on 02/07/2008

First of all, while it is true that Lieberman has endorsed McCain...If he were a Democratic super delegate he would not be able to vote for McCain because McCain...you see..is not a Democratic candidate.

Part 2 is that my comment was a harmless little joke based around the fact that Obama actually did campaign for Lieberman against Lamont...Just a tiny little poke..I swear.

Part 3...You should also have your vote taken away just for being you.
