Whoopi Endorses Hillary

Yesterday on "The View," Whoopi Goldberg switched her endorsement from Barack Obama to Hillary Clinton. Whoopi cited Clinton's statement that she would end tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas. Whoopi previously believed that Obama had made that pledge first, but apparently she was mistaken. Watch the video of Whoopi on the "The View" below:

Oh! Well, if Whoopi says to do it, then that's it. The election's over.

What bullshit.

What's really bullshit is that she is going to support the first one who said they'd do something, rather than the one most likely to actually accomplish it. Sad.

If you wonder how desperate Hillary's campaign is, they have posted Whoopi's endorsement on their website. Talk about an uninformed easily swayed voter. Whoopi, I had hoped for more from you.

Whoopi is showing her usual ignorance of the facts. Who does she think created NAFTA and then decimated the American safety net, leaving American workers out to dry? The Clintons! Who does she think has been taking all that money for the corporate lobbyists who pressured congress to give them those tax breaks! Clinton!

John Kerry originated the policy of ending the tax breaks for companies shipping jobs overseas in 2004. It's part of the Democratic platform.

Hillary has been busy for a decade shipping jobs to India. She referred to herself as (D.Punjab) in a speech over a year ago.

Americans need to wake up to the truth of the Clintons. They are the most corporate family in politics after the Bushes.

Whoopi may have changed her preference, but her reason is just an excuse, and a false one at that. Much more likely is that she has caved to feminist pressures. We women are certainly being subjected to a lot of it these days.

Why not educate ourselves on Nafta before making accusations?
This from Wikipedia:

History of the implementation

NAFTA was initially pursued by corporate interest in the United States and Canada supportive of free trade, led by Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, U.S. President George H. W. Bush, and the Mexican President Carlos Salinas de Gortari. The three countries signed NAFTA in December 1992, subject to ratification by the legislatures of the three countries. There was considerable opposition in all three countries. In the United States, NAFTA was able to secure passage after Bill Clinton made its passage a major legislative priority in 1993. Since the agreement had been signed by Bush under his fast-track prerogative, Clinton did not alter the original agreement, but complemented it with the aforementioned NAAEC and NAALC. After intense political debate and the negotiation of these side agreements, the U.S. House passed NAFTA on November 17, 1993, by 234-200 vote (132 Republicans and 102 Democrats voting in favor; 156 Democrats, 43 Republicans, and 1 independent against),[7] and the U.S. Senate passed it on the last day of its 1993 session, Saturday, November 20, 1993, by 61-38 vote (34 Republicans and 27 Democrats voting in favor; 28 Democrats and 10 Republicans against, with 1 Democrat opponent not voting).[8]

I am surprised that Whoopi would switch her endorsement on a single issue. At least she chose a decent one to base it on.

In the end I am less concerned about who came out with the position first than that it actually becomes the law of the land. In that regard, if we lose to McCain, what difference does it make who supported what first?

Kudos to Clinton for taking an extremely commonsensical stand, but Obama still gets my vote given that he would do the same thing and has a better chance of getting elected.

A better chance of getting elected? When Republican slime machine activists who actually perform their due diligence they would discover that early in the race for Iowa Michelle Obama played the race card first with statements about the "black America will wake up and get it" or the not so subtle racism of her statement "I want you to close your eyes and imagine the day that Barack Obama is inaugurated President of the United States, standing in front of the Capitol with his hand on the Bible taking the oath of office to be the leader of the most powerful office in the world. And think about what that image, right then and there alone, is going to say to millions of children around this country ... There is no one else in this race, and you know it in your heart, who is going to send that kind of message." implying that millions of Black children will be inspired that they can do drugs break the law and still become Pesident. This totally ignores the plight of women in this country gender discrimination is a larger problem than racism if a Balck person is critiscized the huddle down and cry racism, critiscize a woman and she is expected to suck it up and accept it. Obama and his supporters are real good at playing the victim, that is not a sign of leadership it is a sign of weakness the Republicans can’t wait to exploit. And all that is without even mentioning the racists tennants of his church.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:23 AM on 02/10/2008

Gee what a jerk you seem, assuming that "doing drugs" disqualifies you from being President. Honestly, I wouldn't trust anybody under 50 who had not at one time or another dabbled in pot, drink, or whatever. It's a right of passage in our world, whether for good or bad. Whaddaya want, a Mormon who won't touch coca cola? I want a normal healthy human.

Or saying that Mrs. Obama's quote is not 100% true. You live under a rock? If anything, she was saying that his election would be a major bellweather for the end of racism in our country. Or that the Obamas play the victim?? Gee, wake up and smell the Hillary. She is playing the victim, not him.

What planet are you on?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:40 PM on 02/10/2008

Assuming that your interpretation of the race card were correct, why would anyone care that Republicans say Michelle Obama played it first?

Beyond this, as rwhiteside pointed out, her comment, even if it were interpreted as narrowly as possible to mean only black kids, seems to mean nothing other than Obama would inspire them in a way Hillary Clinton would not. What is the problem with that?

I don't doubt that you are bothered by Obama's history and his wife's comments, but let me suggest that the only reason that any of this matters to you is that you are a committed Hillary partisan mining for reasons to dislike Obama. None of what you bring up seems to at all address the electability issue that commonsense and numerous polls clearly indicate is in Obama's advantage.

The Republicans are going to try to smear whoever the Dems nominate, the question is how much work are they going to have to do in order to make that person pull fewer state by state allocated electoral votes than McCain. My feeling is it is much easier to motivate their base against Clinton than it is against Obama, and that they will have more work to do to turn independents, who love the guy at this point, against Obama. I have yet to hear anyone make a good argument for Clinton winning any state that Gore or Kerry lost. I doubt Obama would do as well as Edwards would have, but I stand by my assertion that he would outperform Clinton.

I would call you a name but I will refrain. She opposed NAFTA. But simple minded people like yourself don't understand that the first lady doesn't govern, she may only suggest or disagree-not make policy. Go on her website hillaryclinton.com and read her accomplishments for yourself. Also visit the U.S. Senate website and see for yourself.

Isn't that special? I won't go to hillaryclinton.com to get a scewed view of reality. I will check objective sites and disect the words out of her mouth as reality. Nowhere, except from her, does anyone suggest that she disagreed with NAFTA. Circumstances tend to lean to the other way. Between NAFTA and her WalMart union busting silence of VP, John Tate, her anti union-anti labor history is crystal clear. Quote from Hillary at a taped WalMart board meeting,"I'm always proud of WalMart and what we do and the way we do it better than anyone else". Study objectively and learn.

Obviously those folk who believe the deceitful propaganda about Hugo Chevez are just as dumb, as easily manipulated by the corporate media (who, after all, tried to depose Chevez, but the people who ELECTED him threw out their pet dictator and reinstated him) as the GWB supporters. Unlike our current Indiot In Chief, who thinks he doesn't have to honor our Constitution OR the wishes of the people, Chevez ACCEPTED the will of the people when they voted against changes in their constitution. Can you picture any of the REAL dictators of the world doing that?
LEARN SOMETHING and stop believing the BS put out about honorable people who are doing what they SHOULD BE DOING FOR THEIR COUNTRY AND ITS PEOPLE.
The person who suggested I move to Venezuela (because S/HE cannot handle the truth they swallowed without question is as bad as the Bushes and Cheney. Move YOURSELF to Saudi Arabia, if you want some real dictator to obey. Or stick with GWB, the home-grown type.

Chavez is temporarily honoring it, but is still pursuing reversing it. Furthermore, the people voted for him after he let it leak that there had been an assasination hit on his opponent. Who the hell do you think wanted to assassinate his opponent? Chavez maybe--ya think?? Who is going to vote for someone else and want to have his blood on their hands??? He instills fear in his people and that is a dictator. Now with respect to Bush, Chavez would have come off more intellectual if he stopped criticizing our govt. and tried to really help his own people who are still living in poverty and misery. Dictators appear under different guises. Some overt, some less overt. Our current president has never had a hit out on an opponent, nor did he ever try to change the term limits. While I don't support our current president, he is no dictator. Furthermore, if I couldn't deal with your comments, I wouldn't be responding to your inane commentary. This lady never backs down from anything. Also, I know that oppression exists in countries like Saudi Arabia, no need for me to live there. However, that doesn't mean I should close my eyes to the potential of a new type of dictatorship on our own turf. Rhetoric used by Obama cited by Dari(posted yesterday) is extrememly suggestive of stripping choice and when you strip choice, you strip freedom. Now as a person who can discern suggestive Rhetoric because I was a Rhetoric and Public Address Major, I smell danger ahead. If you want to risk your intrinsic right to freedom which McCain has mentioned comes from God and not the Govt., you do so. As I indicated,I won't be risking anything. Obama on the other hand wants us to believe that his drug use came from questioning his existance as a biracial youth. Give me a friggin' break. Drug addicts look for excuses to take drugs except for the real ones(no offense)weak character and/or mental illness. So you vote for him. There's always a potential for relapse. Have a ball!

Whoopi,

While Barak and Hillary appear to be the same candidate on many issues the distillate of the difference between them comes down to corporatism. Hillary is a corporatist. She will choose the path that best benefits business and corporations which explains her votes authorizing and funding the war in Iraq. There is a corporatist movement within the Democratic Party called the Democratic Leadership Council, or DLC. "Google" them, but go beyond their home page. Hillary is a member, Barak is not.

Whoopi,
You are not as smart as I thought you were.
You should have considered the integrity of the person too. Obama will do more for people than Hillary. Martin Luther King gave his life for someone like Obama to have a chance. But, you didn't think that was important to consider? Something is wrong with you.

That's exactly what Obama's camp wants you to think. MLK never gave his life for someone like Obama to run. He gave his life for the purpose of realizing the dream for all people to be treated equally. MLK would have advocated for asians and latinos as well. For people to start displaying a selective memory with respect to MLK's pursuits is typical of racist people. I only hope you have selective memory when you are stripped of all you possess for his brand of "equality." I'm sure you aren't getting that this is what his version of "change" is about. I find it amusing that many are using this so loosely and do not know what the heck his change is about. Castro and Chavez wanted change too--or do you have selective memory about that too.

What a racist statement, WOW Martin Luther King gave his life so that "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. ". Martin Luther King gave his not for barrack Obama a “Black man” to become president but that in his words “dream of a truly color blind society”

Obama says and I quote,"I want to campaign as I govern--forcefully!" Sounds like a dictatorship under the guise of smooth rhetoric?? Check out Barack Obama's website, Change We Can Believe In and you'll see it for yourself. Also, his church seems to oppose a middle class. Read for yourself. There's a funny quote with respect to"the arguement against the middle class",taken from scripture. Oh my God, if we were afraid of GWB making decisions through religion-- hold on to your pants, you haven't seen nothing yet!-- which says "to those who are given more, more is expected." He believes in poor and rich and no in between. That's a beaut! Also the latest delegate tallies on the major networks state that Clinton has 1118 delegates and Obama 1095. However, Obama's site claims 910 delegates to Clinton's 882. I don't know, but someone in the Obama campaign appears to be hitting the sauce! Obama's website has a whole page taking potshots at Hillary Clinton's campaign. Hillary, on the other hand, has no such page. Ummm? Obama seems to be the one with the politics as usual. That is what we need a real "change" from.
Go Hillary '08!

Again Hillary like Mc Cain have experience... the wrong experience. They have been around during a great decline in our country. Largest creditor nation to largest debtor nation. The dollar becoming the pesso in buying power. Mad obsession with free trade instead of fair trade. Healthcare going from 6% of GDP to 16% of GDP.

The have rejoiced in TOP EXEC pay which increased 12 fold while the average wage declined as high paying jobs shipped to 3rd world countries.

From trade surplses to huge and growing trade deficits. From 10th in Lieracy to 51st in literacy. From 8th in distribution of wealth to 23rd. From 1st in healthcare to 37TH.

To a country that makes nothing from a country that was the worlds Manufacturer... now everything comes from China and we cant make a TV or computer or even toys. We cant even stimulate our economy w/o over 60% of the beneift flowing to Communist China.. which charges a 22.5% tarriff on our goods. Of course our number one export to them in scrap!

The Dream job is at Wallmart. Our college graduates cant get jobs in engineering or computer science... since those jobs go to 25 cent per hour workers now, but Hillary wants to insource more workers anyway.

10 Trillion in debt from one trillion? We dont need the experience that has been taking us in the wrong direction for 30 years. We dont need more IRAQs and Vietnams or 700 military bases in 250 foreign countries..Or Flag Buring Amendments, we are too broke for that. Experience.. Hilary did not even read the intelligence reports on IRAQ before her votes. That is not experience, thats not doing your job, and people get fired for that ( a 2 trillion, one million
lives mistake), not promoted to President.
One hundred million Americans were against the Iraq1 war and thus were all smarter than Hillary. It was no small mistake, any more than NAFTA or than mandated healtchare will be instead of an actual healthcare system w/o the Insurance middleman.

Regards
