Whoopi Endorses Hillary

Yesterday on "The View," Whoopi Goldberg switched her endorsement from Barack Obama to Hillary Clinton. Whoopi cited Clinton's statement that she would end tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas. Whoopi previously believed that Obama had made that pledge first, but apparently she was mistaken. Watch the video of Whoopi on the "The View" below:

TRUE STORY: a friend who is very involved in SC politics (he's white and Repub) told me that blacks in his precinct (Aiken) WILL NOT support Hillary if Barack loses the nomination. They believe that this will be the only chance in their lives to vote for an African American and they will feel cheated if he doesn't get the nod.

So, here's my point: the Obama supporters (especially on this site - especially Arianna herself, especially every article you link to with every headline you create) have for long enough trashed Hillary. What's it going to be? Coalition in November or are we all going to go our own way and let a Repug pres appoint three more justices? Just asking. And for crissake, settle down with the obamapaluzza and the Hillary bashing or we're all screwed because the Hillary supporters can just as easily reject Obama come November.

Don, you think "McCain isn't that bad"?? Think again: He feels we could be in Iraq for a century. He supports the war, ergo, he supports what we as a country have done: killed 1,000,000 people.

ONE.

MILLION.

PEOPLE.

That's what McCain supports, and if you support him, *that's what you support.*

Get it?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:32 AM on 02/09/2008

McCain may not be that bad, but he has already made a pledge to conservatives to actively seek Supreme Court nominees just like Alito, Scalia, and Thomas. If THAT doesn't scare you, nothing will.

Patriotism before Party.

Party before Popularity.

"I will proudly support the nominee of my party."

Repeat.

Dems could take a page from (until recently) Repuke party discipline. Reagan would bitch-slap the current Republicans, esp the ones invoking his mantle.

It was Senator Kennedy who fought hard in 1996 to get President Clinton's people to cut "the 'runaway plant loophole,'' the 'title passage loophole' that allows companies to shift profits overseas and a third tax break for exports. Summers said those provisions helped the leading employers in their states."

I NEVER thought Whoopi was endorsing BO. Whoopi SAID, on air, that she needed more than a good speech, that BO needed to supply her with more specifics, and her LOVE for the 1990's economics. I interpreted THOSE statements as Whoopi's support for BILLARY.

Who knew??

Karen Johnson,(aka Whoopi Goldberg), like the 50Cent, give celebrity endorsements a BAD NAME. Neither is well informed, neither can move beyond the status quo mindset, neither realizes that they are handkerchief heads.

Of course, if they had supported YOUR candidate, that would have been OK though, right? Then she would have been an intelligent, forward thinking, positive supporter of change?

And it's people like you inserting racism into this with your references that don't go over the heads of astute readers. YOU are the problem you claim to be supporting a campaign to cure us of...

I knew I loved you Whoopi. You're great.

The Clinton administration created 22,000,000 JOBS in THIS country.

I'd support legislation to prevent companies from hiding their income overseas and a law that would prevent any tax benefit for going overseas.

Under President Clinton, we had the best economy ever. Clinton's Economic Policy (without ONE Republican vote and doomsday predictions by the Republicans) worked in creating 22,000,000 jobs, lowering interest, balancing the budget 4 years out of 8, creating a stronger dollar, and paying $14.2 Billion on the National Debt.

Clinton paid more on the National Debt than any other president in history AND he was the first president in 50 years to pay anything on the National Debt! That's quite an accomlishment.

Republican presidents created 92% of the $9.3 Trillion National Debt. The Democrats created less than a trillion in debt, just 8% of the National Debt. Enough said.

The Republican mantra, Democrats "Tax and Spend" is a lie. The Democrats are much more fiscally conservative than Republicans!

The Republicans are the "Borrow and Spend" party. They even borrow the money to give "tax" cuts to the rich.

The Republicans have left us with a massive debt for future generations to pay. Reagan, Bush I, and Bush II all created record deficits.

Clinton paid the debt down by $14.2 Billion.

Bush II has created the largest debt in history...nearly $4 Trillion Dollars.

Here's something scary: You would have to send a check for $30,300 to the U.S. Treasury to pay off your share of the National Debt.

The interest on this massive debt is 300,000 MILLION (300 BILLION) a year, and going up.

Hillary will go back to the Clinton Economic Policy and will bury "trickle down" forever. She'll be the Second President in 50 years to pay on the National Debt. She will rescind the unfair "tax cuts" Bush has given to the wealthy. Remember those tax rebates? Had the rebates been given equally to every American, you would have gotten a check for $4000. I got $300. Did you get your fair share?

Good points about the Clinton era. All true--although I think discussing his budget surpluses would be even more effective.

The only downside are these points--and they're not an attack on Hillary, but they are the cold hard reality:

Hillary is not well liked by a LOT of voters. Unfair? Yeah, probably, but it's true.

Hillary is not a galvanizing force for many, but will be for the Republican party, which is currently in disarray. Not a fun fact, but it's the truth.

I have nothing against Hillary Clinton, I think she's trying to do what she can to help the country. I don't agree with a number of things she says, does, but so what? It's her right as a politician? I just think she carries too many negatives to be elected.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:41 AM on 02/09/2008

At the same time, will she support measures like DOMA and the 1996 Telecommunications Act? Not to mention NAFTA?

I do agree, Usually, Democrat = good economy, peace; Repubs = bad economy, war. But the other stuff worries me to no end. All this Clinton legislation hurt our freedom almost as much as the Patriot Act.

Rezko was appointed by Obama to serve on his US Senate Finance Committee.

That is the same Rezko who donated money to Obama's campaign in the same month that tenants in Rezko's apartment building did not have heat. Five weeks with no heat--in the middle of winter--in Chicago! No money for heating for his tenants--yet Rezko manages to donate money to Obama.

Hillary Clinton will continue the Bush agenda, look at her voting record. If more Democrats took the time to look into what she says and how she actually votes this would be a different race. The MSM have done an excellent job of convincing us all to vote for who we like personality wise - this is a presidential election and every vote should be an educated one.(And not MSM educated!)
Also - Celebrity endorsements should mean nothing to the average tax paying wage slave.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 04:29 PM on 02/08/2008

I am a Hillary supporter and I HAVE looked at BOTH their records. Both have made mistakes and have voted for things I wouldn't have. But by comparing their records, it is blatantly clear to me that she is the more substantive and more effective legislator. I suggest that YOU look at their records more closely to see who is actually getting progressive legislation passed and who is actually helping people. Celebrity endorsements mean nothing to me. RHETORIC MEANS NOTHING TO ME. I am sick of slogans. Action is what matters, and her record of ACTION is long, impressive and SUBSTANTIAL. Name ONE issue on which Senator Obama has been effective in creating change. I can name several for Hillary: women's rights (she lead efforts to pass rape sheild laws), national security (she has been leading the way to securing our ports and ensuring the Center for Disease Control is prepared for major disease breakouts), healthcare (without her efforts, there would be NO SCHIP progam at all for the President to veto!), supporting our troops (she fought to make sure Bush didn't gut their benefits to pay for his war)... should I go on, because I certainly can. She isn't perfect, but HILLARY IS A WORKHORSE, A POLITICAL ANIMAL AND A PROGRESSIVE WARRIOR. She should be President, Obama can learn alot from her, and will be an excellent President in 8 years.

Good points, but here are some counter points:

National Security: Hillary, and all other members of congress who voted for the war should be held accountable for that vote. That vote has ended up in the deaths of 1,000,000 people, and has encumbered us economically for a generation or more. She stood and clapped when Bush said at the state of the union that the surge was working--there should be no surge, because there should be no war. And she still refuses to recant on her vote. Oh, did I mention that this vote led to 1,000,000 dead?

Health Care: Yes, on SCHIP, no on universal healthcare. She ignored her potential Democratic rivals in the Senate when she could have compromised to get comprehensive healthcare passed. (read all about it: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/05/opinion/05brooks.html)
Why don't people hold her accountable for that fiasco?

Supporting our Troops: Where was Hillary when the administration "went to the war with the military they had, rather than the military they wish they had" (paraphrasing Rumsfeld)? The war she voted for sent our troops into battle with the wrong equipment--that left many dead or forever damaged. Humvees that were unprotected? Did she do anything to address this?

Other Issues: It's not just about votes--it's about vision and the ability to UNITE people--not divide them. Do you honestly think Republicans and independents will get over their dislike for her and somehow decide to give her their vote in November? They are indicating, almost uniformly, that if she's the nominee, then they'll vote for whomever is running against her. (With the exception of nutjobs Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh--who, for some reason don't think she's a progressive warrior). These are people that Barack has already proven he can attract--and are key to winning.

Hillary's a warrior, alright, but not a progressive one: she's a former "Goldwater Girl." You remember Goldwater, right? The one who removed Indians from their reservations in the Southwest to give oil, uranium, and coal rights to corporations?

Whoopi is disappointing. It seems she wants the candidate with the most amount of baggage to be the Dem. nominee. Perhaps the fact that Hillary has voted to give Bush the authority to Bomb Iraq is okay with her, and the fact that this vote has resulted in the deaths of thousands and thousands is okay too. Perhaps Whoopi has forgotten that with the Clintons we are going to hear all about Lewinski, Paula Jones, Marc Rich, filegate, Chinagate, Norman Hsu, Foster, and all that garbage. After a while Hillary is saying whatever she thinks will get her elected but it does seem she says it after it's been said. Like the change bit, Barack said he was a candidate to change washington and how things are done...then along comes Hillary and she says she's the "real" change candidate. It does seem like she is following the leader a bit. What change does she represent? Change from bushie a dog could do that in a woof. A real change from how clinton and bush and the bush before that means a great deal more. She is selling Bill as the co president as he said today with "I won't be on staff full time". Weird
