Cher Tom Cruise

'Entertainment Tonight' sat down with Cher yesterday in Los Angeles in an interview to air Friday, February 8th.

Cher told ET about her relationship with Tom Cruise, "It was a long, long time ago and neither one of us ever talked about it and I don't know why. When we were together he was such a private person. He always has been until lately. He didn't mention it and I didn't mention it. I loved him though, he was amazing. Now it's hard for me to look at this person and this press. How many times can I watch him jumping up and down on Oprah's couch?"

On why they broke up, "It was after Risky Business and right before The Color of Money. I couldn't go to Chicago and that was kind of the straw that broke the camel's back."

She goes on to say she still feels close to ex-husband Sonny Bono, who passed away in 1998, "I always kind of feel him in a strange way. I've got these lights in my bedroom and they go on and off for no reason and I always think it's him trying to piss me off."

Cher also had a long term relationship with now gay David Geffen. He found her sexy because her androgynous body was like that of young man with no hips or tits!

I knew this gay 20-something guy who worked at the same company as I did, and the walls of his workspace were plastered with images of Cher. Waaaay over the top funny/cliche. I just can't imagine any woman "jealous" of her. Gays? Yes, certainly!

I still quote you on the marriage thing, it's a great institution but who wants to live in an institution. Wise beyond your years. And if they call you Diva....it's like permission to go for it in your own style, so I say You Go, Diva for all of us that can't Diva for ourselves.

Even though it was Groucho Marx who said it. But you remembered it. Go, you Diva!

A man is so happy in love he jumps up and down with glee.

What the hell is so wrong with that?!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:42 PM on 02/08/2008

because fidgeting is a reaction to stress and worry, not love.

Nothing as long as it is not overcompensation. What's wrong with jumping up and down on a couch for the love a man - what the hell is wrong with that?!

for a woman who has a rep as an absolute diva, she seems fairly cool and humble in these remarks...

Thanks for bringing that up, Theda. I'll never forget Cher calling in C-Span to complain about the way the woulded soldiers were being treated. That was long before the scandal officially broke.

Cher has always struck me as the girl from the neighborhood who lucked out and made it big but NEVER forgot that she was just the girl from the neighborhood. She has an immediacy and presence that really can't be faked. As good as Streep was in "Silkwood" it was no contest next to Cher who merely had to walk on camera to be that woman. She absolutely deserved her Oscar for "Moonstruck" and she's teriffic in "Tea with Mussolini." I love it when some Italain gigolo puts the make on her asking "Tell me, are all American women as fascinating as you?" to which Cher cooly replies "Alas, no."

Cher was always the meat of the duo with Bono hanging on for dear life. I hope he still feels the tree that put us out of our misery...Republican scum.

Cher would probably still be working as a sales girl at Sees Candies if it hadn't been for Sonny....He's the one who shaped her up and pushed her on the stage, singing the songs that he wrote. He may have been Republican scum, but I can still give props to the guy who wrote "I Got You Babe" and "Laugh At Me"

Cool? Cool?!! Cher was never considered cool. She was part of a ridiculous sixties pop duo. There songs were cutesy. And she's never been considered cool! Fuckable, yes. About a hundred years ago. Cool? NO!!!
A shallow, narcissist. Most definitely. Please help save the word cool before it becomes... well, what it is today. Uncool.

cool, as in how? approved of by large crowds?
cool, as in, you wish you got to ride in a limo with her?
or cool, she was really original and innovative?
or cool, because she has to be the center of attention at all times? just asking about this word cool?

You must be very, very young. Illegally young, even. One day, when you do grow up, check out all of the hot guys who were lucky enough to KNOW Cher. Tom Cruise isn't even remotely worthy.

Well, I met Cher once when she was very young while I was on stage door duty that night. Like all true creative artists you could see that she could use her vehicle to project her inner state and communicate on some other channel beyond just the physical.

That advanced soul quality is neither male nor female in that sense. Her soul power spoke through her female vehicle. In person she radiated something greater than the sum of her mere physical looks which were quite nice. But her reality was much more than that.

I would have loved to have asked her out but I could feel her destiny written all around her that no one could change. My soul path was clearly not part of it. Her destiny was sacred. She was treading some inner path of guidance. All that came to me in a flash.

I found out later she had Cherokee blood in her. I think that was what I perceived. There was some kind of spiritual bodyguard around her from an unseen nation. It was very pleasant but rather other worldly. I have always wished her well.

But I will say her outfit on "If I Could Turn Back Time" was, well, maybe a little to over the top. It actually cut down on her radiance a bit for me. Maybe projected a little more than I want to know without some kind of formal ceremony. But she is a creative artist and she can do what she likes.

So I guess I was worthy enough to see her once in person in a somewhat unusual setting. Does that count?

she was certainly cool when I was 12 years old. Her music isn't always in the cool canon, but cher was cool.

Cher could wear a gunny sack and look great. But, please, cease and desist with the Botox and nipping and tucking ... with those cheekbones, she doesn't even need it.

I would kill for a chance to grow old with her origonal face ('stead of my own).

Nobody needs botox. That nose was beautiful.

What a lot of people don't realize, is that Cher does have very good genes. Her Mother Georgia has got to be in her late seventies or early eighties by now, and she does not look a day over 45! (again, the high cheekbones)

Sorry Tom turned out to be a kook.

Ah, once again, the media headline TOTALLY misconstrues the intent of her comment. And we wonder how these Obama/Hillary battles get blown out of proportion and inaccurately reported. Can't you just see some reporter asking Tome Cruise to comment on just this headline not knowing what else was said. Tom would have a completely negative impression of what Cher had actually said, which was not negative at all, but Tom might be baited by the press into firing back with some negative comment because he did not have all the facts. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED IN ALL OF THIS SO-CALLED RACE CARD PLAYING PROBLEM BETWEEN THE OBAMA AND CLINTON CAMPS. The media orchestrated the whole mess by misquoting, truncating quotes and leaving out significant content that would have changed the character of what was actually said by either party. We voters (and indeed all of the pundits out there need to hold our tongues until we 'see the whole tape' so we know the truth of what was said and stop taking a reporters word for what was said. Reporters, these days, have no qualms about lying straight out to create a story. It is truly shameful and a disservice to the country. Headlines imparticular are OUTRIGHT MISLEADING LIES. DO NOT BELIEVE THEM...READ THE STORY...WATCH THE TAPE.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:06 PM on 02/08/2008

I totally agree that the headline was misleading, but I trust that Tom will think before he says anything. He knows well what games the media can play.

Someone should do a scientific paper on the people who hate certain web sites and then come back again and again and again -- and post complaints about the site.

Get a life.
