Gingrich: Obama A "Phenomena In American Politics"

ABC News   |  DIANE SAWYER, ROBERT MORRISSEY and JONANN BRADY   |   February 8, 2008 01:25 PM

stumble digg reddit del.ico.us news trust mixx.com

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich said today that last year he would have picked Sen. Hillary Clinton to win the Democratic presidential nomination, but now he's not so sure, calling Sen. Barack Obama a "phenomenon" and comparing him to John F. Kennedy.

"I am surprised how she underperformed and how well Senator Obama is doing," Gingrich said on "Good Morning America." "I think Senator Obama is slowly and steadily pulling away. The difference in fundraising capability is getting wider. They had 16,000 people in Boise turn out for Senator Obama Saturday. That's an unheard-of kind of turnout."

Indeed.

Obama may succeed at obfuscating some of the few REAL differences between Dems and Repukes.

I don"t know if the media is giving candidates like Clinton & Huckabee a fair game. They are pushing Obama no matter what and assuming McCain is the sole republican running. Overall I do enjoy the WP editorials.
Also, check out the articles "Red States" and "Latino States" http://savagepolitics.com/?p=78 and "The Numbers Game" http://savagepolitics.com/?p=84 on www.savagepolitics.com. It offers a refreshing/brilliant analysis on voters, what the polls really mean, etc¦ I haven"t seen this type of analysis in a long time. It was about time someone unbiased analyzed the current presidential race!!!!!!!!!!

Great article! Also, check out the article "Romney"s "Huckattack" on www.SavagePolitics.com. Here is an excerpt: "Mitt Romney"s exit from the Presidential race was already expected. His campaign knew that it was very important for Romney"s reputation to remove himself from further embarrassment, and thus ensure a clean slate for his next bid towards the White House. Although he did create some impressive waves amongst many Social Conservatives, who chose to believe his political posturing, his campaign never made the impact that it needed to achieve a complete victory. Realistically, he would probably never have made much inroads in the first place if it wasn"t for John McCain"s apparent Liberalism and unpopularity amongst Conservatives. Today, only Ron Paul and Mike Huckabee remain against McCain, men who the Media has always taken for granted, dismissing their campaigns as "radical" whims and relegating them to the bottom of the list in exposure and respect. Even so, Huckabee, who has always been the candidate with the least money (with the comical exception of Mike Gravel), has nonetheless survived most of the other "serious" candidates on the race; Thompson and Giuliani. Should Huckabee succumb to the Media and his Party"s pressure to give up his run for the nomination? To Huckabee, this may sound a bit insulting when you consider the fact that he has been consistently underestimated throughout this election. Now, if he wants to increase his almost impossible odds, he needs to seek Romney"s endorsement, in an attempt to accumulate enough delegates (around 500 if Romney joins Huckabee) and face the upcoming primaries with a competitive number of delegates. What are Huckabee"s possibilities? What would be the consequence of such a strange victory?..." Get the rest at http://savagepolitics.com/?p=80

It hardly takes a prophet to recognize that Obama is winning and Clinton is fading. I'll bet he predicts the Giants to win the Super Bowl.

McCain should pick Crist. First of all, Republicans will think they are voting for Christ. More importantly, Crist probably gave McCain his 1.4% margin that got him every delegate in Florida with only 34% of the vote. That convinced the silly press to crown McCain before Super Tuesday and handed him the nomination. Even today, the majority of Republicans are voting against McCain, but the Republican's undemocratic system gave them an early, if unpopular nominee.

Who allowed Newt back on the air waves? Why?

He may be Fox-Faux News worthy but only by

the smallest margin.

Republicans must be about

ready for Foley to come back on the air and do

wordy pundit political shows. What fun!

Newt Gingrich is an ass, but he isn't totally stupid. Kennedy did change America. Without his inspired leadership, Lyndon Johnson would never have had that civil rights package to push into law. He made it possible by changing how we saw politics.
And Ronald Reagan changed America as well. Enormously. Not the way I would have liked, but converting the US from the greatest creditor nation in history into the greatest debtor nation in history was some kind of accomplishment. He presided over the greatest transfer of wealth in history -- up to that point in time, to those who had no need from those who did. Not what I would have bragged about, but quite an accomplishment. Little Bush who never had aan original idea in his head, tried to give us even more such VooDoo Economics, and did.
At last America began to see the fallacy of that kind of thinng. But nnote carefully that McCain and Clinton both belong to the same Neocon controllers. (A politician doesn't get funds from such types without making committments. You know alreadyt that HRC met with Murdock for a nice little breakfast before he started raising funds for her. Such events have meanings not hard to decipher!

Now along comes Obama who took no lobbyist funds. He hasn't spewed hatred of anyone. He has wonn votes from black and white and from states all across the country, North, South, East, and West. From the highest educated, from the poorest. From high earnners and from those strapped to make ends meet. He is a real uniter.

His program is good for all of us. And it is realistic. He is one who can make a phennominal change in our nation and its politics.

Obama has convinced many independent swing voters that he hears them. These are the people the republicans want to keep with their straight talk express in a contest with Hilary.

Obama will garnish enough of these voters to win. Hilary will alienate them and go for a large leftist and feminist vote instead. That is why she was so furious with Obama even whispering the name "Ronald Reagan". Hilary's strategy is to stimulate the voice of feminism into a throbbing raging mob of overwhelming numbers on the left while Obama, more traditionally, goes for the lion's share of independents in the middle where the election will be decided.

ATTENTION HILLARY SUPPORTERS ! SPECIAL NOTICE !
Due to the under-handed tactics and inner-party polarization of Hillary Clinton, millions of Obama supporters WILL NOT support her should she become the nominee. This, in part, is due to the fact that many feel that she is already trying to cheat her way to the nomination by claiming victory in Michigan and Florida. (By the way....how did her name appear on the Michigan ballot anyway ?)Keep in mind, all this stems from Howard Dean's assumption that the punishing of those 2 states wouldn't really matter in anticipation that Hillary would run away with the whole thing having it wrapped up by Super Tuesday. But they just didn't know Barack Obama, or America. Now, like kids on a playground, there's talk of a re-do, which is also unfair. I'm sure the New England Patriots would love a re-do too.But rules are rules and should be are meant to be followed, it's just that simple. Hillary Clinton has totally alienated even her own party members. This is sad....but true. She will not win the Presidency without full Democratic support. Your continued support for Clinton is actually a vote for McCain. Sorry.....these are just the facts! The really sad thing is....we used to like the Clintons ! In addition, there is a groundswell of support to draft Bloomberg as an alternative if deemed necessary; but Americans will not support corruption in this election, even in the name of Party loyalty. Finally, Have You Heard....Rush Limbaugh is starting a fundraiser drive for Hillary called 'Keep Her In-So We Can Win'. And for those of you who have been fooled WAKE UP !.......Hillary will definitely keep us in Iraq (which is why she gets more defense contractor donations than even the repubs)....and her health care plan only creates 47M 'universal' law breakers. She even admitted on ABC that she would garnishee wages and fines up to 5 Grand ! Polls show that Hillary supporters are 'less educated', but DON'T BE STUPID !......REALLY !!!!!!

If you let the GOP retain power, then you're dumber than a stump.

McCain has PROMISED MORE WARS. Bolton is being considered as Sec. of State if McCain wins. Supreme Court Justices will be replaced by more radical fascists.

Is that what you really want? Really?

Obama 2008!
But if Hillary gets the nomination, VOTE FOR HER! The alternative is horrific.

ONE of the reasons I will not vote for Hillary Clinton ever is that she has cheated and will continue to cheat on Michigan and Florida. In Florida, after all ccandidates agreed NOT to casmpaign there, she went there three times for big fund raisers. After all other names were removed from the ballot in Michigan, hers remainedd and her people pushed for a "win" against nobody. After those "wins" she started singing that she would fight to see that those voters were not disednfranchised. In other words. She will fight to gain legitimacy for her cheating wins. (Please note that demographically Michigan should be a big Obama state. The upper part is like Minnesota and tghe Dakotas, and in the cities, there is a lartge Black population that will be highly turned off by a Clinton swindle.) This shows her character. Other indication is her support: lobbyists, Murdock, and recently, even that slimey pair Limbaugh and Coulter.

To the Obama supporters here: how many of you have actually read either of his "autobiographies"? Anyone?

I spent alot of last night reading his words and was very impressed at his revisionist history. Perhaps some one of you can explain his claim to've been conceived as a result of the marches in Selma when he was born in 1961 and the marches happened in 1965?

Or maybe you can explain how his parents were married when Barack Hussein OBama Sr. already had a wife in Kenya?

How do you explain his "black experience" when he was raised by white people and attended Ivy League schools? Or the fact that his mother's family included slave owners?

How can we believe he wants unity now when his own words displayed such a distrust and disdain for "brown people"?

What is the justification for him only embracing Christianity as late as 1988 when he decided to go to law school and began telling people that he intended to one day run for President?

How do you justify Barack Obama's support for partial-birth abortions or voting against a bill that would give life-saving medical aid to an infant who survived an abortion? Not once, but 4 times he voted against saving such infants?

I'd really like to read your opinions on these matters because Obama's own words seem very contradictory to what he is saying now. If you haven't read either of his books, I'd recommend getting them at the library and saving yourself some money.

Two things.

You're not black, so you would have no idea the mere fact you are black gives you insight on the black experience no matter if you're raised by whites (and for the most part we blacks consider Hispanics and Jews white...the lot of them).

Any person can move closer to religion any day. Yesterday's sinner is tomorrow's religious fanatic and vice-versa. What's the great line from Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band? "They're all the same - the sluts and the saints."

I like Obama. I think he's a rookie though. I think his words have substance, but they're not his words. I think he has great style, but he also has a stylist.

He's just a man who is very motivational, but he's not Martin Luther King. He's not speaking for the greater good of humanity - he's speaking for the greater good of his career. And that's okay too.

Thanks! I appreciate your thoughtful reply. You're right that I'm not black, but it puzzles me that, if Obama is of mixed race, what makes one choose the one over the other?
And you also have a good point about the converted. I'd forgotten about a girl I went to high school with. She was raised a Baptist, then married a Catholic and converted. For years afterward her Christmas gifts were alway medals of the saints. We lost touch after awhile because she kept telling me I would go to hell if I didn't accept the blessed virgin. I don't think all Catholics are quite so extreme.
