Gingrich: Obama A "Phenomena In American Politics"

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich said today that last year he would have picked Sen. Hillary Clinton to win the Democratic presidential nomination, but now he's not so sure, calling Sen. Barack Obama a "phenomenon" and comparing him to John F. Kennedy.

"I am surprised how she underperformed and how well Senator Obama is doing," Gingrich said on "Good Morning America." "I think Senator Obama is slowly and steadily pulling away. The difference in fundraising capability is getting wider. They had 16,000 people in Boise turn out for Senator Obama Saturday. That's an unheard-of kind of turnout."

I don’t know if the media is giving candidates like Clinton & Huckabee a fair game. They are pushing Obama no matter what and assuming McCain is the sole republican running. Overall I do enjoy the WP editorials.

It hardly takes a prophet to recognize that Obama is winning and Clinton is fading. I'll bet he predicts the Giants to win the Super Bowl.

McCain should pick Crist. First of all, Republicans will think they are voting for Christ. More importantly, Crist probably gave McCain his 1.4% margin that got him every delegate in Florida with only 34% of the vote. That convinced the silly press to crown McCain before Super Tuesday and handed him the nomination. Even today, the majority of Republicans are voting against McCain, but the Republican's undemocratic system gave them an early, if unpopular nominee.

Newt Gingrich is an ass, but he isn't totally stupid. Kennedy did change America. Without his inspired leadership, Lyndon Johnson would never have had that civil rights package to push into law. He made it possible by changing how we saw politics.
And Ronald Reagan changed America as well. Enormously. Not the way I would have liked, but converting the US from the greatest creditor nation in history into the greatest debtor nation in history was some kind of accomplishment. He presided over the greatest transfer of wealth in history -- up to that point in time, to those who had no need from those who did. Not what I would have bragged about, but quite an accomplishment. Little Bush who never had aan original idea in his head, tried to give us even more such VooDoo Economics, and did.
At last America began to see the fallacy of that kind of thinng. But nnote carefully that McCain and Clinton both belong to the same Neocon controllers. (A politician doesn't get funds from such types without making committments. You know alreadyt that HRC met with Murdock for a nice little breakfast before he started raising funds for her. Such events have meanings not hard to decipher!

Now along comes Obama who took no lobbyist funds. He hasn't spewed hatred of anyone. He has wonn votes from black and white and from states all across the country, North, South, East, and West. From the highest educated, from the poorest. From high earnners and from those strapped to make ends meet. He is a real uniter.

His program is good for all of us. And it is realistic. He is one who can make a phennominal change in our nation and its politics.

Obama has convinced many independent swing voters that he hears them. These are the people the republicans want to keep with their straight talk express in a contest with Hilary.

Obama will garnish enough of these voters to win. Hilary will alienate them and go for a large leftist and feminist vote instead. ONE of the reasons I will not vote for Hillary Clinton ever is that she has cheated and will continue to cheat on Michigan and Florida. In Florida, after all ccandidates agreed NOT to casmpaign there, she went there three times for big fund raisers. After all other names were removed from the ballot in Michigan, hers remainedd and her people pushed for a "win" against nobody. After those "wins" she started singing that she would fight to see that those voters were not disednfranchised. In other words. She will fight to gain legitimacy for her cheating wins. To the Obama supporters here: how many of you have actually read either of his "autobiographies"? Anyone?

I spent alot of last night reading his words and was very impressed at his revisionist history. Perhaps some one of you can explain his claim to've been conceived as a result of the marches in Selma when he was born in 1961 and the marches happened in 1965?

Or maybe you can explain how his parents were married when Barack Hussein OBama Sr. already had a wife in Kenya?

How do you explain his "black experience" when he was raised by white people and attended Ivy League schools? Or the fact that his mother's family included slave owners?

How can we believe he wants unity now when his own words displayed such a distrust and disdain for "brown people"?

What is the justification for him only embracing Christianity as late as 1988 when he decided to go to law school and began telling people that he intended to one day run for President?

How do you justify Barack Obama's support for partial-birth abortions or voting against a bill that would give life-saving medical aid to an infant who survived an abortion? Not once, but 4 times he voted against saving such infants?

I'd really like to read your opinions on these matters because Obama's own words seem very contradictory to what he is saying now. If you haven't read either of his books, I'd recommend getting them at the library and saving yourself some money.

I appreciate your not beginning your post by calling me a racist or idiot or lots of other favorites here. I think most others tend to either flag or disregard posts like that. And I really am trying to learn more about Senator Obama and what makes him the delegate so many here support.
Actually I put "brown people" in quotation marks because those were his choice of words for Hispanics in his book, "Dreams of my Father". I really don't like using colors to label people, but here that seems to be the conventional thing to do, don't you think? Please don't try to bring his family into the discussion in a negative way.
I know these are tough questions, but if they can come from an observer (who so far admittedly is a Clintonista), imagine how they'll be spun by the Republicans?

Two things.

You're not black, so you would have no idea the mere fact you are black gives you insight on the black experience no matter if you're raised by whites (and for the most part we blacks consider Hispanics and Jews white...the lot of them).

I like Obama. I think he's a rookie though. I think his words have substance, but they're not his words. I think he has great style, but he also has a stylist.

And you also have a good point about the converted. I'd forgotten about a girl I went to high school with. She was raised a Baptist, then married a Catholic and converted. For years afterward her Christmas gifts were alway medals of the saints. We lost touch after awhile because she kept telling me I would go to hell if I didn't accept the blessed virgin. I don't think all Catholics are quite so extreme.

The Super Delegates were never intended to influence an election, but rather to safeguard against another fiasco election of McGovern, the process is now having unintended consequences. Rather than a safeguard, it is now influencing elections, for instance, Hillary Clinton is running around saying that she’s in the delegate lead based merely on the fact that she has more super delegates, this my friends is Hillary pimping the system.

Let me throw in a hypothetical here, say a candidate locks up all the Super delegates prior to the election and headlines flash all across the nation that Candidate XX is half way to winning the nomination, what then, who would venture to run against Candidate XX.

This is turning out to be a case of unintended consequences, the Super Delegate instead of being a safeguard to the nomination, have become the nomination.

Super delegates are not going to matter and it will make Clinton look even more foolish. The Clintons are running a campaign straight out of the Republican playbook and telling us that they would be more able to deal with Republican attacks.
