With the race to succeed him reaching a critical juncture, President Bush this morning began rallying the Republican base around its presumptive nominee, John McCain, and in the process tried to define his own legacy for the general election campaign to come.

In a speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, Bush offered an implicit endorsement of McCain's bona fides as a true conservative in the face of deep skepticism on the right. Although he did not mention McCain by name, the president said whoever ends up being the Republican nominee will represent conservative values.

Let me get this straignt. Bush endorsed McCain but did not mention his name? How can you do that?
What cool-aid are you drinking???

Possibly he could say "the white haired old guy who was a prisoner in Viet Nam is pretty good"....

Next time you do a story give us the text of the message like real reporters do, you know??

Comment 889! Whoa! I just had to thank the hard working moderators before we all work them to death!

And to be on topic, the reason I support Barack Obama is that he is the only one with even the remote possiblity that he will procescue this mass murdering, traitor war criminal. Indict, convict, and then execute the Traitor of all traitors!

When will McCain ever learn? Doesn't he remember the last time he wallowed in Bush's shit, he lost and deservedly so?

Go ahead, John! We know your only chance is to appeal to the intolerant, narrow-minded, rabid, cultist, die-hard, warmongering, fear-mongering "base" of the GOP.

Too bad for you 80% of America does not buy that crap anymore. Then again, that is GOOD for America.

I had a lip reader interpret McCains words in that photo:

"Oh George Hold Me Tight You Smell So Good"

What a creepy metaphor! If McCain were smart he'd be saying, "LEGGO, DUBYA!!! Stop it, will-ya? Fer Pete's sake my friend, I wanted to be PRESIDENT!! - LEGGO!!"

This is exactly what the Democrats need, and the re-bushlicans don't--having Shrub come to Mc Cain's aid. The kiss of death for any campaign.

How can anyone in their right mind vote for a man who failed to defend his wife and family after being verbally abused by his own party? If his decision was not to defend his own family, what makes us think he will defend the country?

Mc Cain: A man who puts party ahead of his family and country.

The photograph of McCain with his head on the Puppet's shoulder is the one that many of us railed about. After the Puppet and his band of thugs, including Karl Rove, Ralph "Robertson-Falwell-Jack Abramson pal" Reed, and the Bob Jones University crowd of Bible-thumping misfits, committed political mayhem on McCain and even members of his family in South Carolina in 2000, McCain behaves like this. It's irrational, and goes to the question of why he clearly turned his back on his innocent family members who suffered during the said mayhem, while sucking up as pictured to this contemptible, incompetent Puppet. It's a nauseating display that revolted many of us.

Now he has turned to grovelling before the Conservative Mob of quasi-fascists in his campaigning. Yesterday, he appeared before them hat in hand in their convention, begging for their support.

Now it needs to be considered that this guy, if the Country is mindless enough to elect him, as it was Bush (with help from the Supreme Court and questionable Ohio vote), will just give us another Bush II term: More of the same old, classical ultra-rightwinger tradition of caring and attending to the comfort and needs of the superrich investor constituency and their multi-national corporations, complete with excessive self-serving displays of flag-waving, red-blooded American patriotism and with claims of being the party of God and his Son, Jesus Christ, in whose Names we conduct our gun-barrel policies of bringing freedom on our terms to those non-nuclear countries we elect to receive it.

Bush said ""The stakes in November are high. . . . Prosperity and peace are in the balance."

Lemme see... in the last 8 years, the USA became embroiled in two unwinnable wars, the dollar is at an all-time low, the US economy is tanking, and the national debt has almost tripled.

Yep... the man IS completely clueless.

That's sure to confuse the base. Why would a real Conservative (HAHAHAHHAHA!) like Bush support the super liberal (HAHAHAHAH!) McCain?

Beautiful. Get that Bush stink all over McCain. Cover him in it. I hope W runs around campaigning for him in the fall. The more people identify this dismal failure with the Republican candidates, the better.
