Hillary Sends Blistering Letter

New York Times:

Senator Hillary Clinton sent a blistering letter today to the head of NBC, which suspended one of its reporters Friday for comments he made about Chelsea Clinton.

The reporter, David Shuster, had said Thursday that Ms. Clinton had been "pimped out" to make calls to superdelegates on behalf of her mother.

Mrs. Clinton said in her letter, to Steve Capus, the head of NBC, that she wanted to write personally to convey the "depth of my feeling" about Mr. Shuster's comments.

"Nothing justifies the kind of debasing language that David Shuster used and no temporary suspension or half-hearted apology is sufficient," she wrote.

She also said that Mr. Capus should look at "the pattern of behavior on your network that seems to repeatedly lead to this sort of degrading language."

If you send your adult daughter out to turn tricks you shouldn't be surprised when people call her a hooker.

Change your screen name: Independent voter my #ss. Clinton hater is more like it.

On related note, do you think now that Romney is out of the race that even one of his five sons will enlist to fight in Iraq?

This is the game of politics! Does Chelsey even have a voice? She should grow up, stop living in her parents shadow and defend herself! She is a woman I think and not some child who needs to be sheltered from the world! What a joke

bill and hill and the low-life corporate larcenists who make up her campaign staff are turning it into a fucking campaign strategy.

Hillary's "outrage" is a very calculated response to a non-issue. If her polling had shown she could snag delegates by agreeing with Schuster, is there any question what she would do?

The weariness of dealing with the Clintons transcends age, race, gender, and socio-economic status. If we want many more years of that, (think Travelgate, Monica Lewinsky, all those suspicious presidential pardons, renting out the Lincoln bedroom, etc.), plus, Carvelle, Begala, and their ilk, we as a nation are nuts. Obama is a chance to begin anew. We really need that chance now.

All gossip and innuendo. Your opinion that the outrage was calculated is just that: your opinion.

Everything you say about the Clintons is dirt put out by Republicans. If you don't think they will do that to Obama, you are naive.

If we are truly weary of dirty politics we need to impeach Bush and Cheney and then take back control of the media broadcasting on public airwaves.

Politics is not a game. Our soldiers fighting and dying in Iraq would be the first to tell you that. Grow up and move out of your parents basement.

Part 1: I'm getting disgusted with the Hillary supporters here. I was a big fan of President Clinton and I think HRC is a fine candidate. Even though she is not my 1st choice I will support her if she wins the nomination.
I recognize that after all the irrational hatred towards the Clintons since the 90's that many Clinton supporters feel the need to fight. And that is exactly why I am not supporting her campaign. This country needs to move away from fighting each other, not do more of it. The way many of you attack Obama supporters and Obama himself is simply wrong. You may not want him to be President. Fair enough, but he's a good man who doesn't deserve all this hatred and vitriol. It's like because he's not your candidate he automatically becomes the next Hitler. And the fact that he is inspiring millions of Americans who have not been very involved in the political process is an amazing thing, no matter who wins. Are you so cynical that you believe that people having hope again in our country is a bad thing? It may be a risk but these people believe in it and want to see this country be a better place. And for that you try to marginalize them. Shame on you. Hillary supporters continue to treat people who have been inspired by Obama as zombies or cultist drinking the kool aid. Thats incredibly insulting and unnecessary just because he's not your candidate.

Part 2: I'm 36 years old, I have read much on policy positions by both candidates, I read the paper, watch what goes for news on tv these days and get a lot of news from various websites as well. I consider myself well informed and not an idiot as you would treat me. And as an informed voter I believe that while HRC is a good candidate, Obama is a better one. That doesn't make me sexist and it doesn't make me right. It's just my opinion. But when you try to assault me based on my opinion just because it differs from yours, well then you do not represent change from the divisive politics of the last 30 years. Instead you are actively engaging in them, and I refuse to play a part in that any more. I mean what's wrong with you people? You are attacking your own party because you have been trained to fight like Pavlov's dogs. And who trained you to fight like this? The Republican party. They are supposed to be the party of divide and conquer, not us. We are supposed to be better than this. I'm not saying this is one way either. There are plenty of Obama supporters flinging dirt too and that's wrong as well, but I think we can all agree that two wrongs don't make right regardless of which side your on.

If Chelsea is going to fight in her mom's arena, she better be ready to take the blows and deal with them, herself. Momma needs to let Chelsea grow up all by herself. This is ridiculous.

“I became Chelsea’s mother long before I ran for any office and I will always be a mom first and a public official second.”

So...my question is, When will being president be her first priority?

I'm sure if Obama had said I'm a father first, you would be chanting his praises and not questioning if he would put the presidency first.

I'm not defending the pimped comment, but how damn old is Chelsea? LIke 28 or something?! You'd think she was still 13. Does she have her own voice?

Well I am. A pimp sends his/her ho out to bring something back. Did momma Clinton expect a
return from her daughters efforts? If so...Chelsea was pimped. It's not a value judgment. Like interest, rate, and term-- just names in the deal.

Hillary can't even handle what's being thrown at her by the media - what's she going do if she wins the primary and the media plus republicans go at her - cry some more - why did she not voice a public blistering rebuke of Bob Johnson's inappropriate remarks about Barack - she owes the black public an apology for allowing that "black Elvis" on her plane to dance and sing all in their faces - that was quite insensitive on her part -

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:43 PM on 02/10/2008

She didn't cry. Stop it. Have you seen the film?

P.S. Male presidents tear up and are applauded in the media. Just recently we were treated to another round of "sensitive President Bush chokes up when discussing the troops" stories. We have military generals who choke up when discussing war and soldiers and are applauded for it (Stormin' Norman cried, oh how sweet!). We have members of Congress who choke up over various causes they are discussing on the floors of both houses. But in all of those cases, men are doing it, so it's sensitive yet manly. When a woman does it, she gets relentlessly criticized for it. She's suspect, and people question whether she is "tough" enough. The truth is that for most men, a woman already ISN'T tough enough, by definition, because she isn't a man.

Lets see Obama gets his butt kissed by the media everyday. And Hillary gets bricks thrown at her head everyday and stands in there and takes it. And if the media ever turned on Obama he would cry a river.

And Hillary never cried. Are you blind?

Hilary demanded and Schusters head was delivered on a pimped out bling encrusted platter...for using a WORD that is in the common vernacular and also described quite accurately how Chelsea is being used to hump...I mean stump for her Mama!

Sign the petition demanding that women's issues be discussed at the next Presidential debate. The petition also asks that there be a discussion on the sexism that has been a part of the media's coverage of this election.
I have just read and signed the petition: "Presidential Debate - Women's issues and sexism in the media coverage of the 2008 election".
Please take a moment to read about this important issue, and join me in signing the petition. It takes just 30 seconds, but can truly make a difference. We are trying to reach 1000 signatures - please sign here: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/5/presidential-debate---womens-issues-and-sexism-in-the-media-coverage-of-the-2008-election
Once you have signed, you can help even more by asking your friends and family to sign as well.
Thank you! Tim

Thank you, TCB. I'm an Obama supporter, but I am all for this idea.

Of course, we couldn't even get a general election debate held in NOLA, so I don't know if anybody's listening to demands from the public, but we can try.

Awesome work!

I just looked at your site, and I'm going to sign, but I don't agree with all of what it says. It says that "race" was discussed in a previous debate. I disagree. There was no conversation about race or racism in America. There was, rather, a discussion about some campaign tactics using race as a wedge, and then about media coverage of that fact. But there was no REAL discussion of race in America.
