I thought Romney was shameless in his copying of Obama's messages & slogans.

But Hillary, not to be outdone - is plagerizing, copy-cating, co-opting - however you want to call it - Obama's material, not only content, but trying to do so in style, too.

The Clintons are phoneys who will say or do anything to get elected!!

You'd think with all the money the've spent on the 'best politcal minds', for their campaign - they could come up with something original.

Hillary is as naturally uplifting & inspiring, as a bad case of pink-eye.

Did you catch the rally speech Hillary gave last week...when she started getting the crowd pumped up with "YES WE CAN !!!"

I thought I was going to get sick...she stoops so low !!!!

Your post is spot on! She co-opted change so Obama went to "yes we can"; over the last week I have heard this too at every one of her rallies. Even down to how he presents his policy points she is almost exactly using his words. I find it both insulting and entertaining. I can hardly get angry from laughing at her.

Edwards might just be playin' it a bit closer to the vest than most. I'd not be a bit surprised to see him as the VP on somebody's ticket.

As far as I'm concerned, Hillary embodies all that is fundamentally wrong with America today. A pathological liar, shameless panderer, carpetbagger and all around fraud that refuses to allow any transparency into her alleged experience that qualifies her for any job in government. She's left a trail of dead bodies that would make Tony Soprano blush and she 's blatant enough to spin her own $5,000,000 personal loan to her campaign as a "contribution". In the face of a choice like Billary, (would the real Clinton candidate please stand up?) Hugo Chavez looks like a viable option.

While I don't agree with all of Obama's ideas or Edwards either; I do believe the two men can work together and as a ticket will be unstoppable in November.

Folks like to commiserate about how Ronald Regan remade America after Vietnam. Truth is we are now paying for the financial policies he put into motion. What Ronald Regan did is get us to look into ourselves and find what was good. I'm prayin' our next President can do that again.

Edwards will NOT be on either ticket. First, he has already disclaimed any interest in being VP. Second, it doesn't make electoral sense for either Clinton or Obama. (For the same reasons, I don't see a Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton ticket unless it's part of a deal to unify the party.)

I no longer care about these endorsements. Edwards should have endorsed when he got out. He knows both of these people and he knows what they believe. He could have endorsed long ago. I'm tired of him. Endorse or Shut Up!

That's not a very smart way of spending whatever capital Edwards may still have... I much prefer that he take his time and work his way onto a ticket that will move forward with Edwards as a contributing member of the new administration... citizens are better off if Edwards has the ear of the next President and a position that allows him to work the agenda of the people.

Edwards' endorsement is useless. His supporters have already moved to another candidate so he has nothing to offer. He wants a job in the next administration but has nothing to offer in return. Edwards has the stench of a loser. In five years of running for president, he has won ONE primary. Talk about a "following."

Edwards can help with ohio white male blue collar dempographic if he campaigns for the one he endorses.

Yesterday's sweep for Obama, Maine today so far (11% reporting) looking like an Obama win, tuesdays potomac 3 polling big time Obama, then next week hawaii is Obama's home state and Wisconsin....

Hillary needs to stop him ohio and texas. She needs to win both Ohio and Texas by a large margin (just 1 won't do) and or Obama ca put the nail in her c offin by just grabbing Ohio.

Edwards endorsment and subsequent camapaigning in ohio can pull a lot of blue collar white male dems one way or the other.

Those guys are voting for whom they want in any case. The Edwards camp was always split--progressives who are either now supporting Obama or are now supporting no one, and blue-collar males who could never vote for a black man. I really disliked the "electability" argument made by his supporters such as Robbins and Sarandon, because it was an argument based on race and gender. You know the same old BS--America isn't ready to vote for a woman or a black man.

Edwards' endorsement could have meant something more if it came before Super Tuesday. He's waited too long, his supporters have already voted for other candidates or already have an idea who they'll vote for.

It does have a value in promoting a candidate in the news cycle, like many other high profile endorsements, but it seems that the power he may have had in swinging his voters to one or the other is greatly diminished.

I'm sick of Edwards dangling his endorsement to the highest bidder. He should give his endorsement to whichever candidate best represents his point of view. That should disqualify the Clintons.

Agreed. His endorsement has lost60-65% of it's former gravitas. If he doesn't get off the dime before TX, it will be virtually moot; and will have squandered a great opportunity to influence the outcome of the primary. The only way his support will have a positive effect, is if he emulates T Kennedy and goes on the stump.

Right... God forbid he try to move one or both of them more towards his point of view. He should just settle and compromise his beliefs because it will help one of them.

Edwards' endorsement matters less and less as time goes on. Most of his supporters have realigned by now.

Still, it would be shocking if he endorsed Clinton. Personally he would lose my respect, but he would undoubtedly gain a lot of media coverage.

He'd prove himself to be a phony imo if he endorsed Clinton, given if anyone is representing the establishment (political or corporate), it is her.

lisakaz:

Good point. Clinton's cozy relationship with the "health" "care" industry is, for me, a source of some misgivings. On the other hand, Senator Obama's cozy relationship with the nuclear industry concerns me.

Both candidates have taken campaign contributions from people whom I consider my enemies. Corporate executives don't give large amounts of money to candidates without expecting something in return. What assurances do I have from either candidate that, in cases where the public interest comes up against the interests of these and other corporate contributors, the welfare of the people will win out?

However, what really matters is stopping John McCain. Either of these seriously flawed candidates would, in my opinion, be infinitely better than McCain. Neither was ever my favorite (I liked Kucinich, Edwards, and even Dodd better than these two), but I can vote for either if it means stopping McCain.

There are many comments here trashing Edwards but they're not saying who they're for: Obama or Clinton. My guess is that they are mostly Obama supporters judging by the nastiness of their comments. They can go 'unite' themselves.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:19 PM on 02/10/2008

Edwards should have cut a deal BEFORE he dropped out of the race.

Why spend all that time and money campaigning, telling supporters you're in the race through the convention, then withdraw just prior to Super Tuesday?

Edwards could've stayed in the race through Super Tuesday, at virtually no additional cost, and picked up delegates that would've given him additional leverage.

My guess is there's more to this story than we know.

If Edwards endorses Obama it will make him a hypocrite on the health care issue. He argued that Hillary's health care plan was like his, and that Obama's was quite different.

But Edwards argued in that same South Carolina debate that Hillary's healthcare plan was run on pixie dust and fairytales while he and Obama actually provide coverage and subsidies by PAYING for it with tax dollars.

Don't get it twisted.

Hillary's plan doesn't cover the unemployed or those who don't have income. Go to her website and you'll see that in her health care plan.

Obama and Edwards both have sliding subsidies in their plans, which means they cover everyone even when people lose their jobs and can't pay taxes anymore.

If you want univesal health care, I'd encourage you to look beyond the surface, i.e. who uses the term "universal" the most, and look at the substance of the plans. It says right there on Clinton's plan that only tax refunds will be provided. It says right there on Obama's plan that CASH subsidies to the poor will be provided.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:41 AM on 02/11/2008

If that was ONLY thing Hillary were to do if elected Presidentress was to promelgate health care you would have a point.

JW has a good savy head on his shoulders and will only endorse a canadate who will be the
nominee garanteeing him a cabinet position and that might take a while and his supporters may start looking elseware and he has no deligates to hedge his position......so he`s a wash.

Obama will pick up the independant evangelical votes before McCain or Clinton.

If it's so secret, why is it in the news?

Edwards missed his chance to alter the race. February 5th has come and gone. Every primary that goes by, and he has missed nearly 30 since dropping out, reduces the impact of his endorsement.

Surely he doesn't need to meet with the candidates to give his endorsement. He knows which one he prefers. Playing the coquette makes his endorsement seem less valuable.

Dear Mr. Edwars,

I do my laundry on Sundays - so that makes today laundry day, which got me thinking metaphorically.

For the democrats, it's like changing the bedding. The sheets & pillow cases on the bed, sorely need to be removed & replaced (the Bush/Chenney administration). So you take them off - thank god!! Perhaps even burn them.

But instead of replacing them with fresh, clean new bedding (Obama), you see down in the hamper, the sheets from the previous Clinton administartion, & start considering putting them on instead. However, once you pull them out, & see all the stains, & get a good wiff of the smell - plus other abhorrent defilements I need not mention - you'd be a fool to want to put them on your bed. However, should you decide to do so - you'll be sleeping in that crap for another 4+ years!

Lets start fresh & new!!
Go Obama!!
