Keith Richards' Advice For "The B***h" Amy Winehouse

Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has offered troubled singer Amy Winehouse some free advice on kicking the drug habit.

"She should get her act together," the former junkie said during a round-table interview at the Berlin International Film Festival on Friday to promote Martin Scorsese's Rolling Stones documentary "Shine a Light."

The often-addled rocker paused, then added: "Apart from that, I have got nothing to say to the b****."

Winehouse, 24, entered a London rehab clinic last month in hopes of kicking a destructive habit that has overshadowed her promising career.

Stones frontman Mick Jagger, himself no stranger to pharmaceutical experimentation and resulting legal troubles, compared the drug problems of the present generation of Brit rock stars, such as Winehouse and Pete Doherty, to his early days when drugs became an integral part of the pop music scene.

"When we were experimenting with drugs, little was known about the effects," Jagger said. "In our time there were no rehab centers like today. Anyway, I did not know about them."

Oh please! Can we stop trying to save and heal everybody in the f*&#ing world? Amy Winehouse is a terrifically talented gal. Right now she's 24 years old. How many of us did not do any drugs at her age? Liars!

And these ancient rockers are just envious of youth. They've had sex with as many young young women as possible, and it still didn't make them YOUNG. So, get over it. Winehouse is young, talented, and living her life.

Natalie Cole had the nerve to boo at her Grammy wins. Now THAT was b*#&@y. A woman who made money by cutting an album of duets with her famous dead father? Natalie, your 15 minutes are over.

I'm glad Winehouse's family realizes that drug "rehab" is a long--sometimes lifelong--process. It's like alcoholism. But in America we want to see someone plunge into the water and come up shouting: "Hallelujah! I'm saved! No more fun for me!"

It's especially telling that Cole framed her spiteful gripe against AW by saying "we all have to make sacrifices" and you "can't have your cake and eat it too." Which reveals that Cole sees giving up drugs as a sacrifice. That's the truth beneath all these "words of wisdom."

They really mean to say: "If we can't do it or if we have to lie about it, you should do without it, too."

Hypocrites.

You got high on "junk" (heroin?) and "beat up hippies"? And now you wouldn't know "good cutting edge music if it came up and slammed (your) bong into (your) front teeth"? Well Econo, to that I say: Karmas a bitch, ain't it?

"Who the hell is Amy Winehouse?"

Nobody.

There are young girls in churches all over the West Side of Chicago who can sing circles around Ms. Winehouse.

And they'd be a lot easier on the eyes, too.

I knew Bill Hicks as well. And he would have made a magnificent point with his wit. A point is at it's best, a teaching tool, not merely an expression of one's own anger. Not merely for one's own benefit.

It's meant to be beneficial to others. To make a point is to be of service.

Bill was trying to say that all along the way, even during his angry screeds. It was to benefit society in some form or fashion.

I thought his advice would be almost that-get off the drugs but smoke tobacco and drink booze a lot and don't forget add some drama, hey then you'll look as haggard as me only sooner.

It's been reported that Amy Winehouse had ingested a mixture of heroin, cocaine, ketamine, ecstasy and booze..... she sure looked emaciated last night - guess she never eats anymore.

Hey, they don't call em drugs for nothing ask Janis Joplin or Jimi Hendrix or John Belushi - oh sorry, they're all dead.

What Jagger or the author seem to be saying is that back in the 60s, nobody knew any better. But now everyone clearly does. Cigarettes cause cancer too and the kiddies love em. So, take from this what you will: life even when you're young, beautiful, and rich, sucks until you find the deity living inside yourself and stop relying on things and people to make you happy.

Richards is just jealous that Amy Winehouse is now the one who comes on U.S. television and makes a sensation. He may be in his 60's but *this* ain't the 60's and it's time for him to accept that.
I just hope she's around as long as he is.

Oh please. The Stones are legend, around the world, and have been for years. I seriously doubt that Richards is jealous.

Yeah their classic, their great and all that, but they don't have the aura of excitement and newness that an artist has when he or she breaks for the first time. like the Ramones or the Clash in the late 70's or the Stones in the 60's.

i can guarantee she won't be around as long and so far there is no comparison to a legendary riff writer like richards.

The most affective substance abuse counselors are usually recovering abusers. That said, Richards and Jagger are right about Winehouse's lifestyle. If she doesn't cool it, she won't live long. Using the word "bitch" seems harsh, but dealing with abusers is very often harsh. The whole point is to get the abuser to quit on his/her own. That isn't accomplished by coddling them.

Who among us has the right to be so judgmental? I, for one, don't care how she lives her life, but deeply appreciate how awe-inspiring her performances can be. Maybe Keith wouldn't be so snitty if he could remember what talent was supposed to sound like when not being phoned-in.

It is you that is being snotty. Richards wasn't putting her down, he was warning her. You don't see the difference????
Keith was an extremely accomplished guitarist long before whinehouse came on the seen. And his music will still be around long after whinehouse's.

All I see here is a bunch of ignorant uncompassionate a-holes making judgments about a person they have no right to judge. A person has the right to do whatever they want and using drugs certainly isn't hurting anyone else but Amy, so let the girl do what she wants. Keith has some nerve telling her to sober up. Especially coming from a woman hating asshole like himself. And Huffpo has some nerve again using the b-word here yet again, even if they are only repeating what someone else said. None of the people here are without mistakes in their life so stop pounding on someone else and making fun of a person who obviously just needs to be shown compassion, MAN no WONDER we have a useless, wasteful, racist drug war in this country (which it sounds like all of you support), and for any of you who would say - well "you obviously don't know the damage drugs cause" All I can say is I damn well do, so shut it with your moralizing and "holier than thou" attitudes, Enough already.

The Hollywood and recording industry establishment love a good train wreck. The skanky crack hoe looked like she was three sheets to the wind at last night's performance. There is no accounting for taste. One hit wonders are a dime a dozen. We will see if she goes on to be a productive member of the community or if her teeth will all fall out.
