Bill Clinton Calls Obama Campagin "Smoke And Mirrors"

With Virginia considered Hillary Clinton's best chance in the Potomac Primary, Bill Clinton packed his schedule with three stops Monday in the Old Dominion, where he tried to convince voters that his wife's experience trumps Barack Obama's "smoke and mirrors" candidacy....

..."You have to decide what this election is about," Clinton told a room of 600 students, his voice hoarse from making four campaign speeches a day earlier in the District and Maryland. "You have to decide what makes the best president. You want someone with the right vision, the right plans and ability to get the job done. If that's the test, I don't think the question is close." Outside of those traits, "all the rest is smoke and mirrors," Clinton said in reference to his wife's more charismatic rival.

Some savvy campaign advisor really ought to advise Bill Clinton to stop the finger-wagging. When he does that, no matter what he is actually saying, what I am hearing is, "I did not have sex with that woman Miss Lewinski."

And I am sure I am not the only one one for whom that waggling finger triggers an immediate flashback to the days of the stained blue Gap dress. It's like that Queen of Diamonds in "Manchurian Candidate." My response is automatic...I have no choice. None at all.

President Clinton is 1000% correct, this is
all about "smoke and mirrors." But then the
electorate has proven time after time, how
dumb they are and how easily duped they can
be. Obama is never asked a direct question,
he speaks in sweeping generalities with no
"there - there." And the voters are too dumb,
too duped to see through this guy. And if he
is questioned on anything, he cries - people
are getting "negative" or playing the race
card - he knows that is NOT TRUE.
When did pointing out one's opponent's record,
or lack of a record become "attacking?"
When did running a television commercial showing
the person in his own words - become "negative?"
Was that not Obama in the tape? Does he have
an evil twin brother? The American people
will get exactly what they deserve if they
elect this guy - another arrogrant, empty suit
in the White House. What a sad commentary that
is on how dumb and easily duped the American
people really are.

As a life-long Texan, I can say that, if Bill and Hillary are expecting Texas to rescue their campaign, they're in for a shock. For whatever reason, the Clintons are the most despised politicians among white males in Texas that I've ever seen. And most white Texan females pretty much go along with that, I think (this is only an observation, not an endorsement of that kind of thing). Hillary does well with Latinos, but Barack will counter that with the black vote. So Hillary is left with the radical Texan feminist vote, the ultra liberal English professor vote, and that's about it. Even in that bastion of liberal thought, Austin, my wife and I went to an Obama rally out there in the fall, and there were about 3,000 people in a location that could only hold maybe 2,000. Later, we walked around the UT campus and there was Barack Obama grafitti sprayed on the sidewalks. If Hillary thinks she's going to win Texas by 60 to 40, she's got another think coming.

The only way Hillary wins Texas by anything other than an effective split decision, is by Republicans crossing over and voting for her because they think she'll be easier to beat in the general. That could actually be a very substantial voting block for her.

Actually, if she hadn't married Bill and had used her intelligence and her ambition to establish herself without epoxying herself to a very flawed man, it is quite likely that she would be a formidable candidate for president.

But she did and she is stuck with the ramifications of that decision.

One thing is sure: there will be books. The implosion of the house of Clinton has been stunning. I can only imagine how many stories there are behind the scenes: stories of mismanagement, hubris, and willful blindness. Josh Green's "Inside the Clinton Shake-Up" is only the beginning.

Hillary is ultimately only a tangential figure. The story is Bill and Obama, and that cannot be adequately written until we know Obama better. Take good notes everybody. Save the quotes, the clippings, the photos. It is tragic fall and a historic rise. And we are here.

Is there any truth to the rumor that Monica Lewinski is going to endorse Hillary ? This would garner Clinton more votes than Slick could possibly bring her.
