This is the MORAL decay of America!
Thank you conservatives!
The BushCo example now leads the entire country.
I am a student with a double major in elementary education and special education. This incident should have never happened! Those troopers should have NEVER even thought about dumping that man from his wheelchair! How inhumane can you be? There are many other ways of seeing if a person is really handicapped then dumping him out of his chair. On that topic, why would they even think that he wasn't handicapped? AND-- on top of dumping him out of the chair, they did not put him back in correctly, which can cause its own problems! I am concerned for the awareness of society because of this issue. Knowledge about disabilities needs to be better known, and recognized!
I think another surprising fact in this video is that when the woman knocks him out of chair, nobody else seemed surprised. They all just kept doing whatever they were doing. How inhumane can you be? I think they should all be fired AND arrested.
This guy looks disabled! I look disabled (which I am) but if he can drive, he has a special license endorsement that indicates he needs hand controls. They should be able to see this in their records when they are processing him--shouldn't they? This cop should loose her job. Before I was injured I was stopped by cops twice, for no other reason than I'm not white--not being a victim here, but the cops had no reason to stop me, one even inspected my car looking for something wrong (which he didn't find). Now that I am a driving quad, who has a lot of upper body strenght and movement--almost 100%, I've had fears of something like this happening. I hope this guy sues the cop and department.
I too am disabled and to be at the mercy of someone who has no mercy is my worst nightmare. I have never been so angry in my life. What is wrong with people? This is just another example of how the disabled are treated as less than. If they do not fire this person then we might all have to take our wheelchairs and park ourselves out in front of their station for a few weeks. They can dump one of us, but they can't dump us all!
This is all Hillary Clinton's fault!!!
It is obvious to the keen observer that the deputy was expecting a miracle here! Hey, sometimes things just don't work out... Not the deputy's fault, God, apparently was just looking the other way.
Sometimes they get up and walk - sometimes they don't.

See, this is why we need waterboarding. Not for any intelligence in this case, there is none, just for the fun of it.
Guess What?? If this had been a white guard dumping a black prisoner Jesse, Al, and the boys would have been down there in seconds!!! It would be in every paper and on every news and talk show. This bitch should be tied to a wheel chair and pushed down a very sttep hill or a nice long set of stairs. Thank God for the technology that now allows common people to use their camera phones and video camers to catch this stuff. Cops are getting away with less and less because they are now getting caught on tape! I live in Ohio and would guess that 75% of the cops here are badge heavy bullies. It happens every day. I hope this man sues that city for every penny they ever had!!!
This man is not quadriplegic, as he can move his arms and upper body. I watched the video and observed him shifting himself in his wheelchair, trying to reposition himself. This movement requires use of the muscles in the lower back, buttocks and perhaps even the upper thighs.(Try shifting your rear in your seat and pay attention to the muscles involved). I find this confusing, to say the least. Perhaps his paralysis is limited to his legs?
As for that intangible "something", I work with sex offenders and, as a result, I have a fine-tuned bullshit detector. It went off with this guy. Something is "off" here, in my opinion. (I sensed a little bit of histrionics, especially at the end of the interview.) I guess what I am trying to say is that I do not think this is a clear-cut 'good guy/bad cop' scenario...
Missy OneBraincell, Would you please use your limited intelligence to read one of the articles pertaining to this subject...A person may have LIMITED use of their arms and still be considered a quadroplegic...
So, if he's "off" and has limited use of his arms, does that give a police officer permission to dump him out of his wheelchair?
I suppose you are right. It can't be abuse if the guy wasn't totally incapacitated. Why do cops get suspended when they violate the law and the rest of us get prosecuted?
I think you are right, to be abuse she should have cuffed his hands behind his back first.
Your right - he deserved it...
Genius.
corruption is rampant...we are getting played across the boards!!!
It seems that the last 8 years have done a couple of things. It has allowed those who have few boundaries and much paranoia to be in charge and given them many new toys with which to torment others. Most of the law enforcement people I have known are incredibly dedicated, disciplined human beings. They can also become cynical. A few among them seem to be control addicts, rage addicts - in short - the mirror images of those they protect us from. Just as Bush talks about terrorists as he allows torture and ignores laws (I believe that is what terrorists are famous for) these few ignorant cops begin to create resentment among common citizens. It's a fine line that keeps us civilized and a few of these tales wear away the veneer of civilization very quickly. Abuse of power has been the story of the Bush administration and of these little pretend cops. We've had a pretend President for 8 years. Every day there is another story of abuse of power - mirror images of this administration and all that it stands for. The trick is - if I hate them the way I want to - I become just like them. So..... how do we take our country back from these monsters. Voting, taking the responsibility of citizenship so seriously that we can use the law - no matter how long it takes - to call such people to justice. Oh, well, impeachment is off the table - so it won't work there. Guess we start with an incident like the one in Florida and without a sense of vengeance - we apply the law. If we can lose that sense of rage and vengeance - we win. Otherwise - we will turn into the monsters we think we hate.
Florida is really f**ked up. It is, as I mention to anyone who might be listening to me, among the worst of third world countries. My son-in-law, who was serving on the AC Carrier USS Kennedy until it was recently decommissioned, has been transferred to Seattle, WA. I heartily welcomed my daughter and her spouse back into the first world.
Some quads have partial use of their arms. My nephew has biceps, but no triceps. Depends on where they are injured. The difference between
a para and a quad is not so cut and dried. And i see no moral difference between dumping a para on their face or a quad. It is still
cruel. www.forjake.com People should get their facts straight before they emmbarrass themselves with their ignorance. Regardless
that bitch not only should lose her job, she should do some time. Tied to a wheel chair if possible.
Despicable behavior by the cops and they should be fired. However, if that guy is such a jerk in a tv interview where he's supposed to look sympathetic, imagine what a ginormous jerk he was at the time of the incident. If he acts like that in the courtroom, his settlement is going to be much smaller. No one wants to give a pile of money to jerk, even if he deserves it.
Maybe he just hates Fox News.
It is not a crime to be a jerk, it is a crime to physically abuse disabled people. Get a real life!
