What in bloody hell is wrong with people? I don't understand the importance of finding out whether or not this guy was a quadriplegic. What an ignorant group of people and they are there to PROTECT and SERVE and dump your ass out of a wheelchair. Did you notice there is no reaction from the other women standing around? I really think I would have a problem with someone doing that in my presence.

My sister is a double amputee and she has been asked several times by nurses at the hospital and by airport security if she could please stand up. Then she calmly says to them "I have no legs..." To some people you are no longer a human to them if you are in a wheelchair.

I hope that guy owns that police department.

First off this is reprehensible, It would appear though these officers heard Scalia and have applied his torture techniques against a potential terrorist. After all Scalia said slapping around someone to get them to confess was no big deal. Apparently dumping a paralyzed man out of his chair is no different. Makes you wonder what we have become when we look at anyone with suspicion and rather then take 1 minute to step back, and evaulate a situation, we jump, pounce, and attack, then we worry about the consequences later. I hope to hell the ENTIRE sherrifs department is investigated and this group as well as their bosses are fired and bared from any future law enforcement jobs.

It's telling how people in general have become desensitized to the predicament of those less fortunate. What was starkly apparent was how the other individuals (employees) did not react in any way during the entire episode. A form of acceptance of how this situation was playing out.

The most chilling aspect was the cold, mocking smile on the face of the sheriff's deputy, caught by the video camera, as he walked by.

Not to excuse the idiot who dumped him, but isn't the term for a person who has lost the use of his legs Paraplegic ? I thought quadriplegic meant loss of use of legs and arms. Obviously there is nothing wrong with this guys arms.

Hey you, report to the nearest facility for the criminally insane immediately. If they refuse to admit you, spit in the eye of the nearest uniformed person to you.
Or, ........ never mind. You are beyond despicable. You don't qualify to be a member of the dregs of humanity - a word unfamiliar to you. What a pathetic waste of air and water. I hope you die with warts in your throat.

Herm,

That was a little over the top, don't you think?
I had the same question about the term quadriplegic. If you responded that way to me to my face, I might have turned you into one.

Quadriplegia, also known as tetraplegia, is a symptom in which a human experiences paralysis affecting all four limbs, although not necessarily total paralysis or loss of function.
[...]
The extent of the injury is also important. A complete severing of the spine will result in complete loss of function from that vertebra down. A partial severing of the spinal cord results in varying degrees of mixed function and paralysis. For example, there are quadriplegics who have impairment in all four limbs but can still walk and use their hands due to the relatively minor extent of their injury.[...]

All NYPD police cruisers have conspicuous CPR logos displayed on their rear quarter panel... they supposedly stand for "Courtesy Professionalism Respect"...

Of course NYers, who have grown accustomed to the tone and demeanor of the vast majority of NYPD officers, like to joke that it stands for "Cretinous Predatory Racist"

The nonchalance with which these bullying officers acted indicates that the entire county sheriffs department accepts, perpetrates and routinely covers-up abuse of its citizens.

I think it is time we put Bret Hume, Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly in wheelchairs and send them down to Hillsborough County to do a thorough undercover investigation. 18-Months ought to do it.

In fact, George W. Bush may want to see this for himself; we should send him and Cheney down there as well…..Oh, and get a special chair for Rove as well – one with a couple of flat tires and a bumper sticker that says “For a Really Good Blowjob Call 9-1-1 in Tampa.”

I know this area well, Hillsborough County, Tampa, Florida. You can't find a more backwards "big" city....more homeless & destitute people than I have seen anywhere, bar none. This quadriplegic person was not homeless it appears -- but this town is a place that values human beings very, very little, as the video clearly shows.

This is a "prime" case-in-point when we say that some people are simply NOT QUALIFIED for certain employment. This deputy is just too ignorant to live! I was waiting for her to pull her sidearm and begin shooting near his paralysed legs to see if she could make him dance! Totally OUTRAGEOUS!!!

I'm surprised that the ignorant cow didn't tase him for not getting up.
Completely sickening.
First that woman strip searched by male officers, now this.
Welcome to the NEW and IMPROVED america where the precedent to torture comes from the top.

I say we arm them and paste little spirial tails on their butts and a snout-nose Halloween mask on their faces then send them drunk down to Cuba looking for the Bay of Pigs while blowing wheezie whistles and shooting off roman candles. We could even do a fly-over with a pontoon sea-plane dropping red, white and blue leaflets that say "Castro Sucks Big Ol' Brown Cuban Cigars Pre-owned by Bill Clinton. Come Get Yours at the Bay of Pigs."

Twelve years later, when they're released with the next group of boat-people-criminals from Havana jails, we could get them to write an essay about their prison experiences and award a wheelchair to the one with the best sob story and send her to Tampa flying an antennae flag that reads, "Phuck Da Tampa Bay Bucks...and The Pigs They Rode in on!" Then we could do a documentary on "The New Age of Law & Order and Pork Barrel Politics in Florida," or "Oh, the Party We Had When Castro Died."

Everyone involved, including the Joker who thought the episode humorous should be fired. Not suspended, not fined, not disciplined, but terminated. Nothing less is acceptable. In addition I hope the citizen who was so horribly treated sues and is awarded millions for personal damages and humiliation and millions more for punitive damages. I moved from Florida over a year ago after living there for 30 years and returned to America. Florida has become a sewer, a banana republic and my greatest joy was seeing the "Sunshine State" in my rear view mirror. It's a very hateful place to live and I assure you this is not an isolated incident, just one that got publicized because it was caught on tape. I hope the Hillsborough County Sheriff is hounded by nationwide outrage and this Gestapo-like deputy permanently barred from law enforcement, public and private.

Or how about we sneak into her appartment at night and replace her cocaine with Comet Cleanser and her dildo with a cigar shaped taser and then slip in a DVD of Pedro Almodovar's "Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down"?

I think these policemen and women are paid minimuim wage and I'm not being facetious. They could probably make as much if they worked at Wal-Mart.

It's similar to Day Care workers who are paid Wal-Mart wages and then people wonder why their kids were neglected or even abused.

You pay for what you get.
