'Spamalot' Musical Changes Britney Lyric

NEW YORK — Britney Spears is out, Posh Spice is in _ as a lyric for the Lady in the Lake in the Broadway musical "Monty Python's Spamalot." Asked why the lyric was changed in the song "Diva's Lament," "Spamalot" author Eric Idle said Tuesday in an e-mail:

"Because we don't laugh at sad people. Mike Nichols (the show's director) requested it and he's right. We changed the lyrics in London, on tour, on Broadway and in Las Vegas. We think that it's now too sad. Britney Spears is being tortured to death and we don't want to be on that side."

The changes went into the various companies last week.

What the Lady in the Lake (currently played on Broadway by Hannah Waddingham) once sang:

"I am sick of my career

Always stuck in second gear

Up to here with frustration and with fears

I've no Grammy no rewards

I've no Tony Awards

I'm constantly replaced by Britney Spears

Britney Spears!"

It's been replaced by:

"My love life is a mess

I've got constant PMS

My career is about as hot as ice

They hate me there backstage

They say I'm too old for my age

They're trying to replace me with Posh Spice

With Posh Spice!!"

Frankly, I'm glad for the line change just because I'm ready for a new joke. Do you realize Britney is the most photographed person in the world right now? What's with that? I'm glad these guys decided to stretch their talent by trying to go for someone other than the obvious target.

By the way, mental illness can affect one at any age, regardless of gender, race, or income. I'm not trying to diagnose her or defend her diagnosis, but if she is indeed ill she deserves our compassion and sympathy. If she isn't she deserves all the crap she is getting for causing just that much more pain for the truly mentally ill!

You can tell how low we can go in this country when every night we have to listen/watch this idiot butcher parenthood. Those kids should become wards of the court and be offered up for adoption so some parents who truly want kids can take them home and raise them properly - get a life!

"Last week, Mark Vincent Kaplan's former spokesperson, Michael Sands, told X17 he was subpoenaed to be deposed for Britney and Kevin's ongoing custody battle.

As the former media spokesperson for K-Fed's attorney, Michael was apparently privy to a lot of information that Kevin and his lawyer don't want exposed!

Life & Style has obtained a letter from Mark Vincent Kaplan, delivered to Michael Sands, requesting "copies of any documents you [Sands] intend to produce in response to the subpoena so that we may review the documents to determine any appropriate objection and basis for protective order."

So what exactly does Mark Vincent Kaplan have to hide?

An insider tells the mag: "Mark wants all emails, hand written records, notes, meeting notes, phone call notes and records, anything that has to do with his client Kevin Federline, to be handed over. He doesn't want anyone seeing the things that have been said privately, and doesn't want anyone to know about the secret plans and quotes said behind closed doors with regards to Britney."

The source goes on to say, "there are a lot of people that are starting to see that what's going on is not as pretty as it seems. Britney is mentally ill, and Kevin and Mark Vincent Kaplan have been making her look bad, taking her to court, keeping her from the kids."

hmmm, funny, she wasn't mentally ill when she was selling millions of records and making a fortune.
She wasn't mentally ill when she was a Mouseketeer was she, hmm, we may have to change our screenign process. Did working for Disney make Britney cuckoo? Or was it from dressing up like an innocent little schoolgirl. No, I know, it was from dancing almost naked on stagee on live tv with a python. So, a woman who has no problem dancing half-naked for pedophiles or in front of YOUR KIDS should get our sympathy becaus eshe is mentally ill?
I don't recall her crying for help when she was showing off her mansion.
You know what, Britney is not sad or mentally ill. She makes OTHERS mentally ill.
She brought this on herself, this is how she wants it. Do you NOT think for one minute with the money and resources at her disposal, that she could not get top-notch "help" if she needed it, or couldn't make her "problems" go away?

Mentally ill people can seldom help themselves, despite whatever financial resources they may have.

Britney's condition is treatable and was under control until she married Federline.

The custody fight, which Federline started one week after he signed divoced papers in which he agreed to joint custody, has exacerbated Britney's condition.

Since Britney became an adult, it became more difficult to act on her behalf and make sure she was not placed in situations over her head and where she could be taken advantage of, like being drag to court and depositions, in a custody fight. Also, there was no one to make sure Brit was taking the proper medications until her parents gained conservatorship over her and her estate.

Kfed was aware of Brit's condition, and he and his attorney Kaplan knew exactly what they were doing by driving Brit to the edge in hopes of obtaining her entire fortune through her chidlren.

Truth crushed to earth will rise again. God is watching, so Kfed and Kaplan will not go unpunished.

That's just ignorant. If she has bipolar disorder (which many speculate she does based upon her behavior), it often doesn't mainifest itself until a person's late teens, early 20s, even into your 30s. She's the prime age for bipolar. Plus, people with bipolar are loathe to think they need help--to the contrary, they think they are doing fine, seeing things very clearly...so yeah, your comment is just ignorant. If you don't like her, don't read articles about her and turn off the radio when her music comes on, it's just that simple.

Correct me if I'm wrong. From what you wrote, Lucille, I gathered that Mark Vincent Kaplan, Kfed's attorney, sent a letter to Michael Sands, a former employee of Kaplan's, asking Sands to produce copies of any documents he may have in his possession relative to Kaplan's representation of Kfed. If that is the case, then I don't blame Kaplan one damn bit. There is a little thing called attorney/client privilege which also extends to the support staff of the attorney. Also, there's something called "work product" that involves the fruits of the work and investigation that an attorney has conducted on behalf of a client. The only reason Sands or any other employee of Kaplans would have to steal notes and documents from the firm (and it is STEALING), is to write a book themselves or to sell the documents.

Um, no, Britney Spears has been making HERSELF look bad and the only recourse Kfed and his attorney have to keep Britney from endangering her kids is to utilize the court system, which they have. The JUDGE has been keeping Britney Spears from her kids and, in my opinion, rightfully so.

If Kfed and Kaplan's former spokesperson, Michael Sands, has evidence that Kfed and Kaplan have nevarious motives that are not in the best interest of Brit's kids, then he has every right to take the matter to court and let the judge decide whether or not to enter it into evidence.

Kaplan is invoking "work product" and client privilege only after he'd received reports that Michael Sands is saying what he knows about both Kfed and Kaplan's goals regarding Brit and her kids. If Kfed Kaplan have been on the up and up, then they obviously have nothing to worry about. After all turn about is fair play. Kfed and Kaplan got Brit's former bodyguard to testify against her, so hopefully the judge in the custody case will hear Michael Sands evidence and judge whether it's relevant to the case.

This custody action is a civil matter and Kfed could compromise with Brit at anytime. He's refused to do so even though it's literally killing her. Brit has guardian's of her own now, praise God, so let's see what her guardian's and investigators can come up with regarding Kfed and Kaplan. It's about time.

I was thinking the same thing, but there's an age-old rule in comedy that says if you mock someone who is genuinely down on their luck and defenseless, the audience will turn on you.

I remember Johnny Carson roasting Nixon every night during Watergate until the days right before the resignation, when Carson sensed that Nixon was regarded as sad and pathetic by the "Tonight Show" studio audience. Then the Watergate jokes stopped. He later said it was because audiences won't laugh at people, even famous people, they feel sorry for.

You have it backwards, the Brittany lyric has been changed. When the show opened in 2004, she had not been the out of control person we see now. Rewriting the song is the right thing to do.

The "media" is pushing Spears to suicide. It's what they want - suicide by paparrazzi
