Here in Baltimore, you’d think Obama had already won the nomination. On Monday, about 11,000 people cut school and cut out of work to see Obama at the First Mariner Arena.

On Tuesday, these and many more folks braved the rain and icy roads to give Obama 60% of the vote to Clinton’s 37%.

Perhaps the Clinton camp already sees the writing on the wall. They seemed to have conceded the Potomac primary in the days leading to the vote, even tho they needed a virginia win and needed Maryland to be close.

Consider as perhaps indicative that there was no big pre-primary ‘fire up the troops’ rally for Clinton in Baltimore or College Park, Fredrick or anywhere elsin MD. Sure, Chelsea was spotted at Baltimore’s Belvedere Square Market (which has amazing homemade soups and breads) and Hillary addressed workers at a White Marsh factory, but not much else, and Bill was disappointingly quiet.

Perhaps no firing up because Clinton is already toast.

I think the Potomac Primaries will go down in political history as the beginning of the end for Hillary's presidential ambitions.

As of this morning, she faces a delegate and financial crunch. any attempt to wrestle superdelegates (behind closed doors) from a clear Obama mandate will be closely scrutinized and documented. And the Clintons probably do not want to be remembered for playing Bush to Obama’s Gore. Thus an urgent situation for Hillary since she must win about 57% of all the remaining delegates.

The potomic primaries might also be remarkable for signalling a progressive resurgence that actually and finally reaches the levers of power.

In addition to Obama, Donna Edwards victory in Maryland’s 4th CD is a victory, according to Kos, not only for “more democrats” but “better democrats.” The times are a changin.

Yep. 2008 seems different. Obama’s “yes we can” bromide is suddenly being felt in people’s bones (and up chris mathews leg). i never would have guessed.

Is Clinton toast?

According to the Potomac, the toaster is plugged in, fired up and ready to go!!

The Clintons have served the party well. They have given Obama a taste of the abuse and sly inuendo that the Thugs will use against him. They have smiled in his face while attmpting to stick him in the back.

This continuning effort to seat the MI and FL delegates despite promising not to is no doubt a lesson to Obama.

So I really think we should all thank the Clintons for showing Obama something of what a GOP campaign is goining to look like.

"As he weighs a possible endorsement in the Democratic race, former Sen. John Edwards is as split as the party he once hoped to lead — and is seriously considering supporting Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, despite the sharp criticism he leveled at her on the campaign trail, according to former aides and advisers."

Who ever Edwards endorses, some time down the road he'll apologize for that endorsement.

If he's having such a hard time deciding who to endorse, it's not a very strong endorsement, is it?

He'll be backing a losing candidate if he does. He is way behind the curve. If he was going to do this, he should have done it right after he withdrew in order to have any impact.

He's won in the North
He's won in the South
He's won in states where 92% of the population is white
He's won big states and small states
He's won in blue collar, white collar, highly educated and average educated.

What the hell more do we need to know that he's the choice of the American People. He's won 21 contests to her 10...
I know NY, MA, and CA are big, but they are only 21% of the population of this country and Obama seems to be winning most of the other 79%.

Hillary Clinton has three choices at this point:

1) Lose Gracefully;

2) Lose Ugly;

3) or Win Ugly.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:21 PM on 02/13/2008

Its not going to be option 1. She thinks Obama is taking something away from her to which she is entitled. She will not give it up gracefully.

Guyz this race might be a stupid game by neo-cons. This might be a pay back to Mccain for 2000.

They fu**d up the country for 8 years. Now since it's impossible to get the white house back, they let Mccain be the nominee. He has never been the choice for the power house in RNC. They will let him run and loose this time.

It will be tough for democrats to revive the country within 4 years. During this 4 years, RNC will play huge blame game and uncooperation with the administration and try to get back to white-house in 2012.

We just need to be little careful.

"It will be tough for democrats to revive the country within 4 years."

The Democrats, especially Obama, has already begun to revive the nation's attitude. It's largly perceptual and the idea of moving the country in the right direction. All problems won't be solved in 4 years by any means and I think the public realizes this.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:30 PM on 02/13/2008

This will work if Hillary wins. They will go all out to obstruct her from day 1. Since the Democrats will not have the 60 votes to break a filibuster in the Senate, they will succeed. But Obama will be able to rally public opinion against such a Republican strategy and put so much political pressure on moderate Republicans in the Senate that the filibusters will be broken.

Ohio GOP rooting for Clinton

BY HOWARD WILKINSON | HWILKINSON@ENQUIRER.COM

http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080213/NEWS01/302130097

One of the worst-kept secrets of the Ohio presidential primary is that Republican party leaders have a candidate they are rooting for on the Democratic side.

Her name is Hillary Clinton; and they believe that if she wins the Ohio primary and goes on to become the Democratic nominee, she will be the one who unites their dispirited and divided party and give them their best chance of keeping the White House this fall.

That is easily offset by the rational Republicans who
recognize the best thing for their country, Barack Obama.

Sadly, hatred for anything "Clinton" is prevalent in the Republican Party, and her candidacy in the general would indeed galvanize them.

"The old-guard feminist establishment has also rushed out of cold storage to embrace Hillary Clinton via tremulous manifestoes of gal power that have startlingly exposed the sentimental slackness of thought that made Gloria Steinem and company wear out their welcome in the first place. Hillary's gonads must be sending out sci-fi rays that paralyze the paleo-feminist mind -- because her career, attached to her husband's flapping coattails, has sure been heavy on striking pious attitudes but ultra-light on concrete achievements."

Good point. Let's review Hillary's Senate achievements.

Senator Clinton, who has served only one full term (6yrs.), and another year campaigning, has managed to author and pass into law, (20) twenty pieces of legislation in her first six years. These bills can be found on the website of the Library of Congress www.thomas.loc.govv), but to save you trouble, I'll post them here for you.

1. Establish the Kate Mullany National Historic Site.

2. Support the goals and ideals of Better Hearing and Speech Month.

3. Recognize the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.

4. Name courthouse after Thurgood Marshall.

5. Name courthouse after James L. Watson.

6. Name post office after Jonn A. O'Shea.

7. Designate Aug. 7, 2003, as National Purple Heart Recognition Day.

8. Support the goals and ideals of National Purple Heart Recognition Day.

9. Honor the life and legacy of Alexander Hamilton on the bicentennial of his death.

10. Congratulate the Syracuse Univ. Orange Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.

11. Congratulate the Le Moyne College Dolphins Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.

12. Establish the 225th Anniversary of the American Revolution Commemorative Program.

13. Name post office after Sergeant Riayan A. Tejeda.

14. Honor Shirley Chisholm for her service to the nation and express condolences on her death.

15. Honor John J. Downing, Brian Fahey, and Harry Ford, firefighters who lost their lives on duty.

16. Extend period of unemployment assistance to victims of 9/11.

17. Pay for city projects in response to 9/11.

18. Assist landmine victims in other countries.

19. Assist family caregivers in accessing affordable respite care.

20. Designate part of the National Forest System in Puerto Rico as protected in the wilderness preservation system.

This is not a distinguished legislative record, and is certainly not presidential material. Where is the bold, important legislation? Where is the health care legislation? Hillary has had over 12 years to work on health care. Where are the results?

Hillary Clinton:
"I don't believe this election is about me. I never believed that elections are about the speeches you make or the TV coverage you get, because when the camera turns off and the lights are down, what are you going to do to help somebody have a better life, what are you going to do?"

Answer:
She will rename post offices.

Mark her words...this is Hillary Clinton Speaking..so, let's not let this get to Super Delegates, or some underhanded FL/MI scandal..

"You and I know that only the people, not the pundits, get to decide where this race for the Democratic nomination will end up. And, before very long, the people who depend on us the most -- working families who have been hard-hit by the failed policies of the Bush administration -- will have their say in states like Wisconsin, Ohio, Rhode Island, Texas, Pennsylvania and others."

Of course, she doesn't mention...
Virginia
Washington D.C.
Maryland
Maine
Louisina
Washington State
South Carolina
Nevada
Alabama
Alaska
Colorado
Connecticut
Deleware
Georgia
Idaho
Illinois
Kansas
Minnesota
North Dakota
Utah
U.S. Virgin Islands

all of whom have spoken.....loudly and clearly.

From what I've seen, McCain and Obama seem to have a strong mutual respect for one another.

Despite their opposing political views, both individuals seem very principled and willing to speak out strongly in support of those principles -- maybe because both have fought their way to the top while standing by those same principles from day one.

If Obama does win the nomination, I very much look forward to watching the presidential debates -- it will be truly interesting watching these two individuals challenge one another's ideologies live and direct.
