Chris Matthews

Last night during MSNBC's Potomac Primary coverage, Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann were discussing Barack Obama's speech. Matthews — who, in the past, has both cried over an Obama speech and compared him to Jesus — described exactly what happens to him when Obama speaks:

I have to tell you, you know, it's part of reporting this case, this election, the feeling most people get when they hear Barack Obama's speech. My, I felt this thrill going up my leg. I mean, I don't have that too often.

Watch:

Later during MSNBC's coverage, resident anchorman/funnyman Brian Williams made fun of Matthews, saying, "let's talk about that feeling Chris gets up his leg when Obama talks." Watch:

Poor Tweety. His comment reminds me of the famous Mae West line in the movie when she sees Cary Grant (I forget the title): "Is that a gun you have in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?"

Is Tweety Mae West to Obama's Grant? Hmm..

i think the mae west quote was
"is that a pistol in your pocket or is that your f'''ing dick?

I bet he gets a woody everytime Obama speaks. This douche bag is a joke. He would be Obama's Lewinsky in a heartbeat.

As a strong Obama supporter, I wish Tweety would turn his mancrush elsewhere. The weird, sexual context of his "running up my leg" comment is...well, I'll just stick with "weird". MSNBC will continue to trail CNN and Fox as long as they keep this freak on the air.

Oh look it's a Rove wannabe. Pretending to despise gays, while simultaneously imagining gay sexual scenarios.

I only read about Matthews comments as I no longer watch MSNBC. Scarborough, Brzezinski, Carlson, Shuster, and Matthews carry bias to new levels.

News Flash!
Matthews reports that Obama walks on water and sends a thrill up his leg.

Brokaw must be embarrassed to be on the same broadcast.

New levels?? Impossible to top Fox Noise, even if Mathews stayed on 24/7.
I can imagine your disappointment when finding bias in cable talking head shows..

Compare Obama speeches to McCain speeches. What America needs now is inspiration and hope. Who is better to provide that. Nuff said?

typical prograssive mindset... go for the rhetoric and the presentation but no substance... Sorry we in Illinois know that there is no substance , results or leadership... We basically have Dick for a senator and nothing more. Pay attention again if Peter Fitzgerald was not run out by the Illinois repubs Barry would actually be trying to to some legislative duties in the illinois state senate... As of now nothing but he is purty to look at and listen to

Inspiration and hope are wonderful things but do not a campaign make. Pragmatism, fortitude, experience, leadership, reality-based recognition of goals would help too. You assume that you and other Obama supporters have the corner marketed on inspiration and hope and that's simply not the case.

lollll...I'm willing to bet he wishes like hell he hadn't been so specific - "I felt a thrill" would have sufficed.

This guy Mathews is so anti Hillary that he is sounding like "The Obama Girl."

Here we go again, Matthews unhinged. Why is no one remembering that Chris recently spoke of "stopping drinking" - stay with me - if he was a serious drinker, his emotions would have been stashed in his depths somewhere and now clean, he won't know what to do with such feelings and they obviously overwhelm him; he speaks in these odd gushes. He needs a leash. Does anyone else remember this several months ago - the absences, the change in weight and the sudden appearance of a less angry often laughing and suddenly nutsy sounding Matthews. Oops, still obsesses with Bill Clinton, however. Maybe Obama will take him away.

Sounds exactly like our current president. Emotionally unhinged after years of suppressing his feelings with alcohol and cocaine. DRY DRUNK!
I can accept it in a talk show host, not in a president.

Good insight... no one talks about the elephant in the room... he has a lot in common with Bush, the dry alcoholic, cept bush's emotions come out as hatred.
Sick people, all.
Glad I'm so normal!!

You might do well to know more about a person before you try to defame them. Now I am NO fan of Matthews, but the man admitted that he had a problem drinking YEARS ago, not recently. Alcoholics all have differing reactions to being clean and no amount of smarmy trash talk is warranted. If you don't like the man, state that, but your odd and nasty rumor based slander is hardly worthy of publishing.

And the period of time (months ago) that you speak of where Matthews was absent and had a change in weight was because the man is ill, which I believe to be diabetes. And these are common symptoms of anyone with such a disease.

Now if you just don't like the guy (and the reasons and justifications are many) than just say that, but tawdry rumor based lies are cheap and dirty.

last thing I intended - I actually have always liked him until this recent problem (and I was quoting HIM) not starting a rumor . . . if it was about years ago, I didn't hear that. The only possibly unfair link I made was the weight loss. I'm just upset to see him having so much trouble with keeping himself together. I counted on his constant reference to the unfair war, the pressure on the administration and he seems to be sidelined into this mess of assessing Bill Clinton rather than keeping his (what was) keen eye on the ball.
Not cheap, not dirty - concerned, so if you are correct and you don't state how you know what you know - I'll be relieved. What is your source of knowledge? I stated mine, Chris Matthews himself!
