The nation's largest health care insurer, four of its subsidiaries and a number of other large insurers are being served subpoenas -- 16 in all -- in a suit to be brought by New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo that charges the companies used "rigged data to manipulate the reimbursement rate to their customers who filed claims."

At the center of the scheme, according to the attorney general, is Ingenix, Inc., "the nation's largest provider of health care billing information, which serves as a conduit for rigged data to the largest insurers in the country."

.
Adaquate health care should NEVER be a function of disposable income.
There is not enough room between a patient and his doctor for a corporation that is REQUIRED by law to make a profit.

Single payer, universal health care. Medicare for all. Nationalize health care. Put the insurance companies out of business. They can drive cabs and wash dishes like the rest of us.

This is what happens when businesspeople take hold of Government. They stack their decks.

Deregulation indeed. That was the intent of all this Big Government banter the Republicans have been shoving down our throats.

If you look at the Republican Congressmen you will see they come from business. Democrats are mostly lawyers (remember the lawyer jokes that appeared in the eighties).

That is why the right wing is so permeated with conflicts of interest. In business it is a strategy, in politics a crime.

Is any really surprised at this latest announcement about the corrupt insurance industry? This is the same commercial health care system the REPUGNICANS insist is the best this country can do for it's citizens. REALLY? This is the best we can do is force a rigged, corrupt system on the public? Federal tax credits, breaks, and whatever else the republicans can dream up would be an ill fated attempt at helping the public. The insurance industry is always one step ahead of anything the government will do and usually the politician's are already paid off to turn their heads. So how exactly is a commercial health care system supposed to benefit anyone. US Citizens are always the last concern for both the government and insturance, pharma, or big business. This is precisely why we need socialized health care and a one-payer system. If the government proscribes the rates, insurance has no latitude in payment or non-payment... sounds like the best way to go to me... We are already getting bilked in higher costs, copays, and denials, why not just subsidise it in our taxes and force regulation on the industry?

I wonder how much they share info? My jobs took me to many different states, and I was always amazed that I always got this song and dance about auto insurance - each state claiming that their rates were higher because their state had higher accident rates. And, some were rural with very safe driving.
Insurance companies will say or do whatever they want in order to charge more. Period.

But they wont pay for it. In fact, Im sure the ad agencies who did their marketing for this will probably win awards too. This is just the kind of stuff American Capitalist lead Corporate America loves.

No, no, say it isn't so...no...the insurance companies are 100% honest...they don't run rackets against the public, or hire criminals to stage accidents...or steal cars and run car theft rings...nooo....MCI, here we come!
