Dennis Miller doesn't have much luck with sports. He was unceremoniously dumped by ABC as a commentator for "Monday Night Football" in 2002, and now his Versus cable channel show, "Sports Unfiltered With Dennis Miller," looks destined for the scrap heap after just three months. "Frankly, it doesn't look good," a former staffer tells Santa Barbara News-Press columnist Richard Mineards.

Needless to say, the whole angry right winger thing ain't working out that great for ole Dennis. Conservatism is simply not funny. The shit that nasty righties think is funny is, in fact, just mean.
Maybe he should just get down on his knees and beg for forgiveness, claiming that he was brainwashed or some similar nonsense. It can happen. Remember, Arianna was once a Republican (but now she's okay).

Yes, Miller must have forfeited any sense of humor when he veered right. Where can any humor be found in the mean-spirited policies and politics, for that matter, of the right. Can one make jokes of children who would like health care? Can one make jokes about our bridges and infrastructure that crumble? Perhaps how smart and heroic Generalissimo Bush is? (With that last statement, the joke is on those who believe it!)

I had the same problem last night. Two of my comments ended up on the editor's(censor's) floor. The worst part of being deleted is that their was zero profanity aimed at the GOP crony who came on targeting climate change as a hoax. Just because I referred to him as a minion for the GOP and oil industry. In addition, I made a simple request of the minion to tell us believers what percentage of energy in a gallon of gas is actually converted to mechanical energy. So what's up with Arianna and the censors?

Miller used to be one of the funniest people I had ever heard on stage - but he has really gone off the deep end with his embracing of the far Right and taking his comedy in an extreme direction.

I don't think it is necessarily that he went to the extreme Right - I think that any comedian can run into trouble when they head to either extreme.

Did he hit his head or something a few years back? Or did his career take a dive and he said - what the hell - I'll become an extremist?

It's so pathetic watching this insecure, late middle aged man try so hard and so unconvincingly to appear young and hip. Never talented enough to make it on his own show, now he's just Bill O's occasional fawning sidekick... who can respect that, let alone think it's cool? I saw him in a heartbreaking 5 minutes on that "1/2 Hour News Hour" (FOX's ham-firsted attempt to rip on the Daily Show). You can see it in his eyes: he has the look of somebody who knows he has completely sold out, and whatever he was paid, it wasn't enough.

Let's be fair, along with Jeanne Gerafilo going off in the totaly other direction, Dennis has put his career on the line for what he believes. It would be easy for him to make a good living doing the tonight show once in awhile, then flying into Vegas a couple of times a year.

That said, Dennis is truely the most appauling, train wreck of a public personality and I won't even try to take my eyes off him. Forget the whole "funny" issue, it's great to see a guy who got SO prissy about Bill Clinton's sex life make a buck going on and kissing up to Bill O'Reilly, a known sexual harraser!

Dennis is otherwise a combination of smug and stupid (sorry liberals, if you ever thought he was on your side you are just demostrating battered wife syndrome) that is hard to do justice to in a few lines. He's my show biz favorite, because he goes down, down, down and never finds the bottom, I'm always surprised at how discusting he can be each new time out.
