From MTV News:

Nearly a year after Warner Brothers announced their intention to make a biopic of outed CIA agent Valerie Plame, the identity of the actress who will play her has finally been leaked to the media - and you can only find it on MTV News.

"Nicole Kidman," director Doug Liman revealed. "She's perfect if you've ever met Valerie. Nicole was supposed to play Jane Smith in 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith.' We owe a movie together! That's an unrequited thing between me and an actor where I fell in love with them for a role and never get to consummate it."

No word when filming would begin as Kidman is pregnant.

Since there was no crime in the fictitious "outing," I will assume the movie will be about a self-absorbed drag-queen who runs around trying to convince as many idiots as she can that she's in danger while everyone else goes about their lives and ignores her. Except the idiots, who hold her up as a God.

Didn't I see that on Twilight Zone? Except the tiny worshippers on that episode tear down the statue they made at the end when they realize the guy (who died) wasn't a God, just another asshole. Liberals haven't progressed that far yet. Still worship the ass.

One of the funniest posts on HuffPo, bar-none.

Bummer actually. Kidman's a fine actress, but now this will be a Nicole Kidman film, not a Valerie Plame film. They shoulda picked a lower profile actress. And maybe even someone who looked more like Plame.

Who's playing Bob Novak? I guess they need to find someone who still thinks it's the 1800s.

I wonder if the 'biopic' will be allowed to include those parts of Plame's story that are known, but that Plame and Ambassador Wilson still can't talk about because the Bush Administration is keeping the details classified.

Such as the fallout from the exposure of Brewster Jennings - Valerie's CIA front company that did work in the prevention of WMD proliferation, that reportedly resulted in the death of at least one operative when foreign governments and terrorist networks learned of it's CIA role.

Or the report that Valerie's operation intercepted the importation of VX nerve agents into Iraq via Turkey in November 2002 by the Carlyle Group - in what what was probably an attempt to 'salt' Iraq with WMD's just prior to the US invasion to be found by US troops as false 'proof'. According to US intelligence sources this is the real reason Plame was outed by the White House and her Brewster Jennings network with all it operatives, contacts and collaborators were deliberated burned at the height of the so-called 'war on terror'.

So- who'll play Bush? I say Will Farrell.

How about Rove? Pillsbury doughboy.

Libby? Bill Murray!!

I absolutely love Nicole, but I believe Naomi Watts would have been better. She carries the stress in her face just a little more convincingly. I even think Nicole herself, as selfless and wonderful as she is, would agree. But there's no way she'd pass up this challenge. She's much more intelligent then people give her credit for.
However, Nicole, for all the criticism that is heaped on her because of her ups and downs, is an excellent actress and will get her input in to do her part and make it a great movie.
Remember, it's the story that counts here, not the glamour.
Can't wait to see it.

Rove & Libby must be happy with this casting choice. As her recent films have shown...

Nicole Kidman = Box Office Poison

Might as well go all the way and hire Sean Penn to play Joe Wilson and Jim Carey as Patrick Fizgerald -- then no one will see it.

If you knew you were dying of cancer would you have written this?

Great casting decision.

It may be Ms. Kidman's most challenging role.
In interviews, Ms. Plame has shown herself to be extremely intelligent. Ms. Kidman has the looks, but I think Meryl Streep would fit into the role more easily. And finding a qualified director! What a challenge! I hope they put Ms. Plame on the set on a daily basis to try to keep the film real.

Nicole goes blonde?

Speaking of which, Amb.Wilson's role should be played by Mr.Blonde.(/Resevoir Dogs)

You mean Michael Madsen? He might be a bit too mookish. I'd go with Richard Gere.

Nicole has the personality of a dead trout.

I vote for John Travolta in drag. :-)
