On Hannity & Colmes, Alan Colmes asked Ann Coulter, "Why do you keep emphasizing his [Sen. Barack Obama's] middle name as if you're trying to associate him with Saddam Hussein?" Coulter replied, "Because I think it's funny." During the interview, Coulter referred to Obama as "B. Hussein Obama" twice and injected: "Get ready for President Hussein, and let's start planning for the next president."

You know, fun as Coulter-bashing is, Barack Hussein is going to have to get out front on this one sometime. It is his name. It is either a major obstacle to his becoming president of the US, or it is an opportunity. As an obstacle, Ms. Coulter is right; it's pretty funny. Would Wendell Adolph Willkie have had even the slim chance the actual Willkie had of beating FDR? Hell, no. But as an opportunity, it's golden. Who can talk to the Middle East with more credibility--a Texas frat boy, a blond feminist, a bomb-loving old dude, or a guy whose middle name is Hussein? With Obama, we might just have a chance to sit down with the Muslim world and show them that we have some ability to understand where they're coming from. This won't please the "bomb, bomb Iran" crowd at all, those who think any kind of diplomacy means you're ball-less, but it may be our best chance at dialing down the hostility. It also won't stop the fringe jihadists, but I think we have to face the unpleasant fact that fanatics and nuts will get guns, will use guns, and will kill people, whether it happens in the Middle East or on an American campus. Shots happen.

What's funny is that she tries so hard to "outrage" Dems and she thinks it actually works. If she read the posts here and saw that she's seen for the joke that she is, I don't think we'd hear that forced laugh too soon.
