Kirstie Alley

After 3 years as Jenny Craig spokesmodel, Kirstie Alley is stepping aside.

From People.com today:

"Although Kirstie will not appear in future advertising endeavors for us, she does remain on Jenny Craig's maintenance program and is confident that our program has helped her incorporate positive lifestyle changes that should last a lifetime," Scott Parker, vice-president of marketing for Jenny Craig, tells PEOPLE.

"Now that Kirstie has 'passed her maintenance baton' to Valerie [Bertinelli,]" adds Parker, referring to the inclusion of the former One Day at a Time star to the ad campaign beginning last August, "you'll see a new campaign with a new celebrity client emerge, in 2008 ... one that promotes health with Queen Latifah."

The National Enquirer that came out earlier this week has a different take, screaming that Kirstie was fired for being "too fat."

She has worked very hard and my bet is she will do her best to keep it off. She did a lot of exercising that is key-from what I understand she is still doing it. She seems like a wonderful lady and I wish only the best for her

Maybe the problem is that the Jenny Craig diet just doesn't work.

It works really well, if you follow the plan. I found the food to be quite delicious too.

I followed it to a T and consistently lost 3.5 pounds per week. I also roller skated once or twice a week for a couple of hours. My counselor wasn't happy with me, they don't want you to lose more than 2lb/week.

Yes I wish the best for her as well, but I think her fat is down to the dead space aliens attached to her body. It seems Ron's tech isn't working, or maybe she's skipping her auditing sessions, or maybe she's putting on the weight just in case she finds herself in the same situation as Lisa McPherson one day.

This is no surprise. The problem w/Jenny Craig and other diets like this is that the people on it are eating prepackaged portion controlled food. Once you get close to your goal or lose all the weight, you can start eating regular food again. Its not a surprise that people put back on the weight again from going on major binges after feeling deprived for so long. Also most people who start exercising religiously during the initial phase often burn out after awhile.
The bottom line is that Kirstie has to come to terms with the fact that she is never going to be able to parade around in a bikini any time soon or ever again. Not everyone was meant to be a size 8 or less.
Unfortunately for kirstie, her weight issues are food for fodder in the tabloids.

While I agree with the last comment you made, I disagree with the first part. Weight Watchers does not make you eat packaged food, unless you choose to. You have a book filled with every food item on the planet to choose from. Normal food. You just pick things you like and keep within your points for the day, and yes, the weight comes off, without starvation. You can screw up one day, and go back the second and still lose the weight. Once you get the hang of knowing what is a low point item, you make your own menues, go out to dinner, and live. Its sane, and it works. You can use the packaged meals if you want at dinner time, but you also have the flexibility to cook real food. And you control how much you spend, they don't. Its sane, and it works.

I agree with you Crusiepuppy. Weight Watchers is not at all like Jenny Craig. You actually do get to eat normal food on W.W. I do W.W. every year when I want to lose the winter weight. It helps me to get back on track. I also feel healthier when I am on it. I do like the fact that its okay to make mistakes on it and you can start fresh the next day.

That was not my experience. I didn't feel deprived and didn't binge once I was "on my own".

I did eventually (after several years) gain the weight back. I got complacent and lazy. You really have to stick to an active lifestyle if you have any hope of staying thin. Well, I'm off to jump rope...

Yo yo dieting is dangerous ... better that she should find a weight she can comfortably maintain than go up and down that demon scale.

There are 12-step programs for over-eaters. Changing the diet is a band-aid solution. The advantage we recovering alcoholics have is that all we have to do is quit drinking- then work the program and heal ourselves. One Day at a Time. How do you stop eating? I sympathize with her- she needs more than Jenny Craig for a long-term solution.

What makes me sick are those fat, dysfunctional people who are so in denial they blame society's expectations and declare they like themselves as they are- fat.. and unhealthy.

Auramac, what you said is very true. We have a family friend who joined OA 2 years ago after being morbidly obese for many years. She had tried every stupid diet out there, only to gain it all back and more afterwards. OA changed her life significantly. She used to hardly ever leave the house, now she enjoys a wonderful social life. She says that food will always be an issue for her, but she has adopted ways to deal with it in a healthy way.

I thought Scientology helps the mind - you can heal yourself, etc. according to Tom Cruise, Kirsty's buddy and fellow Scientologist. It sure cost them enough money - doesn't it work?

She hasn't been working, and since she probably hasn't been sending them any money, why should Scientology help her?
