Bill Clinton Spars With Another Protestor

MSNBC reports Bil Clinton snapped back at an interrupting anti-abortion protestor:

"I gave you the answer. We disagree with you," Clinton said. "You wanna criminalize women and their doctors and we disagree... I reduced abortion... Tell the truth, tell the truth... If you were really pro-life, if you were really pro-life, you would want to put every doctor and every mother as an accessory to murder in prison. And you won't say you wanna do that because you know that because you know that you wouldn't have a lick of political support. Now, the issue is who ... the issue is, you can't name me anybody presently in politics that did more to introduce policies that reduce the number of real abortions instead of the hot air putting out to tear people up and make votes by dividing America."

Bill Clinton is 100% right on this issue.
If you make abortion illegal, then there must be punishment for this illegal activity.
That's how the system works.
So what is it going to be?
Jail time, fines, flogging, the stocks, death??? How bout some good, old fashioned, Old Testament stoning? You know, like they still do in the MidEast.

The anti-choice, anti-women people never gave an answer to that one.

I once put this question to one of these people and his response was that if we make it illegal then women won't be having abortions so we won't have to deal with the punishment issue.
Oh, ok sure.

This is just one example of the stupid simplicity of these folks.

Just watch it. He pointed out that the anti-abortionists hide the real consequences of their agenda, which is to criminalize abortion and, thus, women who have them.

He's right. That's exactly what they don't want to say.

He then pointed out they hid that in the chanting and rhetoric because they absolutely know there would be no political support for their positin.

I much prefer that he engage them in dialog. Have you seen what happens to the Code Pink protesters? They are manhandled, dragged OUT of whatever venue in which they appear.

That Bill Clinton engages these folks and opens up a dialog is a step up IMO. He's not using gestapo tactics or having people tazered.

think it is a mistake for President Clinton to fall for the tactics of these agitators. It is equally self defeating for Obama supporters to highlight these incidents. After all if Obama wins he will need the Clintons’ help. I think everyone needs to take a chill pill and focus on the general election. Both of the candidates will need each other’s support so why burn all the bridges in the primary.

The only problem I see with Bill's retort is he referenced his actions as president, where he could've taken the opportunity to put forward his wife's position.

It further blurs the distinction, which is a problem considering how often the term "Billary" is tossed about.

Bill is right to answer. He can give substantive answers. At least he and Hillary take direct questions. If you ever attended Hillary's events you would know she passes out mikes for questions and answers anything anyone asks. Obama only gives speeches, no questions, no answers. He also has the bad habit, like dubya, of speaking with the royal "We".
