Lohan Nude

In 1962, photographer Bert Stern shot a series of photos of Marilyn Monroe at the Hotel Bel-Air that have collectively come to be known as "The Last Sitting." The photographs are arguably the most famous images ever captured of America's most famous actress. Six weeks after she had posed, Monroe was found dead of an apparent barbiturate overdose.

Lindsay Lohan recreated that photoshoot with NY Magazine, down to the lighting. Her whole photospread with Stern is in the new fashion issue of the weekly, and can be found online here. There is more nudity and may not be safe for work.

What a challenge for the photographer. Lindsay certainly filled some big shoes, re-interpreting that famous photo-shoot.

It reminds me of the spread that National Geographic did many years ago with the jewels in the Smithsonian museum: hung them where they belonged ... around the neck of a very beautiful woman. The Hope Diamond, not in a museum display but hanging around the neck of, as I recall, Michelle Pfeiffer.

If you're offended by a nude portfolio, or if you just want to slather over it like some teenager, don't bother. But if you appreciate it, wow.

And no one, not one of the candidates, except for Ron Paul, are addressing the real problem, the Lindsay Lohan nude photo shoot!

*Seems like there's one of these on every other thread so I thought we could use one here.

I don't care what you say, Lindsay is still hotter than a hot potato. And does a pretty decent shoot here, you have to admit. Who cares why? Go buy the magazine!

Ulltimately you hit the nail on the head. She sells. That's whats important. At all cost make sure cash moves. A lesser persons hands to a more powerful persons their hard earned wages because they're fascinated to watch someone who seems to be living the American Dream. But these kids don't even have an understanding as to what that dream is. Their lives are empty and fueled by the media, of which they play a part. They're all feeding off each ohter. It's as if the dime novels of another time have come to life. The Perils of Pauline. The Lustyness of Lindsay. The skankiness of Spears. They all play a part in how our society works. For those around them they're the holy cash cows. And we must remember that spending money, no matter how superfilous the purchase might be it makes our leader happy. Following 9/11 the big request from our leaders were that we should go shopping. Geez. Our society is vacuous from the top on down. With a man as dumb as Bush in control little fluffs of nothing like Lohan and Spears are to be expected. Our society likes shiny bright objects to distract them from their problems. Pull a string with aluminum foil on the end and you'll have America watching and believing. Lohan is nothing more than aluminum foil used to distract us and spend money. Is she capable of analytical thought? Does she lie in bed at night with her mind racing as to what she failed in that day and how the next she'd try again? Nahhhhh...she's drunk as a skunk and out partying with other girls of equal low IQs.

Agreed. The only problem is comparing it to the original. Then, unfortunately, Lohan's deficiencies as a sex-goddess jump out at you.

Yeah, and that "e-mail me any replies to my comment" button is not working. I hate it when I can't get the last word. Juvenile, I know.

I don't get it.

She doesn't look anything like Marilyn, and probably has no clue about the life of MM or any of her movies.

Who is Lilo trying to attract with these photos? 70 year-old men?

The worship of Norma Jean has always confused me, but whatever.

No one is saying Lindsay Lohan is Marilyn Monroe - though the drug abuse and promiscuity sure seem familiar, for as far as I know Lohan has yet to have an affair with a sitting President - this is just a tribute.

People still idolizing a long dead pop icon and feeling personally affronted at something like this really do need to breath regularly and pull the stick out.

Nobody here is "idolizing" anyone - they're simply pointing out that Lindsey isn't the same caliber as MM and as far as I can tell, unless I missed something, nobody is feeling "personally affronted" at anything. They're only offering their opinion.

It never ceases to amaze me that lame people will intentionally come to the ENTERTAINMENT section, and let me repeat this again, the ENTERTAINMENT section, and then proceed to insult people who are having discussions about ENTERTAINMENT in the ENTERTAINMENT section by implying they're pathetic and way too emotionally attached to celebrities. These losers always have some idiotic comment about how we need perspective and we all take this way too seriously.

I never realized how many freckles Lindsay Logan has. I am jealous of her body, but I don't envy those freckles. No offense meant to my freckled friends.

I'm not at all surprised that Lohan is showing off her body in this manner, she seems hungry for attention and this is certainly one way to get it.

But Lindsay Lohan is no Marilyn Monroe. I am sick and tired of people trying to label someone as the next Marilyn Monroe.

There was only one Marilyn Monroe, as troubled as she was, and no one else will ever be her, as much as they want to try.

Back when Marilyn was alive I dont think Marilyn was Marilyn either. She was a troubled actress who had her own problems and was deep in the adulterous relationships with the Kennedy clan. Physically they have different styles of beauty. I think it ignorant to making so much of such comparisons. Both are/were more than attractive enough for almost anyone.

A sensible comment on this so-called recreation. This photospread is all about Lindsay Lohan.

Not that she looks bad in any of the pictures.

I'd hit it.

i don't get most of these comments. as for her not being Marilyn, who cares?

she's got a body, and i'm glad she's stopped teasing us with "firecrotch" sightings and nipple slips.

Why Bert Stern would do this is the question.

It's enough to destroy what's left of his reputation. But if he has screwed up and needs the money I forgive him...

But does she have to look quite so much like an old nag? As in Horse?

Marilyn was 36 and blooming in 1962. Were the drugs better then?

Whatever, Marilyn was unique and it's the greatest tribute to her that we still love her, cherish her and try to imitate her.

Trust me, Marilyn Monroe she ain't. And, shame on you New York Magazine for comparing the two. Marilyn was beautiful and talented and a 50's icon of glamour. Lohan is nothing but a cheap little slut trying to get some of Marilyn's uniqueness reflected on me. She's a drunk and no talent little "C" word.

None of the actresses today had what Marilyn had so it's probably better if they don't attempt to capture that "special something" by copying her famous photos because it only makes it more obvious that they aren't like her.

I can't find a word to describe what Marilyn had but she wasn't as "hard" as these actresses.Although she was very conscience of her image, you could still get the sense she was a scared child who needed someone to take care of her - it really came out in photos. She also had more depth than these actresses but people don't think of it.

I can't imagine a man like Arthur Miller being involved with Lindsey or most actresses today. He obviously saw something more than Marilyn's image.

And for the person who mentioned "Citizen Kane" I heard a theory from someone that "rosebud" was actually the name that Hearst had for a certain part of female anatomy that he used with his mistress although nobody knows for sure.

God, why are there so many mean comments?

She isn't meant to look JUST LIKE Marilyn, she was paying tribute to her.

I think she looks beautiful. Slightly fake, but still very lovely. They didn't airbrush her freckles to death, she looks mostly natural.

I just can't understand all the vitriol here. Sure shes not an icon like Marilyn, but who is? Give her enough time and she just might be one day.

Don't listen to the haters, Lindsay. If you keep away from your vices and attempt to live some sort of normal life you may be the great actress you want to be.

Although Lindsey is clearly talented if you ever read an interview with her you will realize why people insult her. There was an interview in a fashion magazine where the writer couldn't even pretend that she was anything except an obnoxious, rude, materialistic woman. She really did appear like a horrible person.

Bert Stern: you're older now, right?

Hell, if you were shooting photos in '62 you are old. Old enough to know better. Old enough to be original maybe. To have a new idea. At least you didn't steal the idea from someone else.

Even New York mag should know better.
