Lindsay Lohan Nude: Starlet Recreates Marilyn Monroe Photospread

In 1962, photographer Bert Stern shot a series of photos of Marilyn Monroe at the Hotel Bel-Air that have collectively come to be known as "The Last Sitting." The photographs are arguably the most famous images ever captured of America's most famous actress. Six weeks after she had posed, Monroe was found dead of an apparent barbiturate overdose.

Lindsay Lohan recreated that photoshoot with NY Magazine, down to the lighting. Her whole photospread with Stern is in the new fashion issue of the weekly, and can be found online here. There is more nudity and may not be safe for work.

This may be a side issue, but I've been enjoying TV lately. Not for the programming but because I've been noticing alot of the 'bright young stars' of the 80s back doing character rolls. Actresses who enjoyed a small-but-­successful career in their younger days, got a couple movies under their belts, then disappeared. Now they're reappearing a mothers of troubled teens or wives of politicians in TV potboilers. Lohan may be on that path now. Her fifteen minutes of fame are just about up and we'll be recognizing her face in 2020 as the distraught mother of a troubled teen on some future TV police procedural.

I hope she can recover her career, because she really is quite talented. The photos...w­ell, Marilyn is a hard act to follow. They recreate Marilyn's last photo shoot. I hope this isn't some kind of dark foreshadowing; I hope Lohan's life isn't cut short due to the glam lifestyle. The media and superstar culture have transformed our bright young talented artists into drug-addled monsters. I hope the past few years of Britney and Heath can teach these actors and musicians to protect their gifts.

Putting aside the myths that have been created around Ms. Monroe, one of the major differences between her and Lindsay Lohan is that Lohan has at least TRIED to get clean. Monroe was a junkie who wouldn't get clean and it killed her.

Are they fake, REALLY? Who cares if they are fake? They are only to look at. Whether they are real only matters to a nursing baby, and then the question is do they work i.e. do they produce nourishment! Other than that it is all fantasy, and whether looking at them can stimulate your imagination.

Someone with a jaundiced eye can never see the beauty in something. All they can do is criticize it for being too white, too black, not black enough, too ethnic, too oriental, insufficient experience, too emotional, cries too much, not strong enough, and on and on.

The truth is that it is not about her pics as much as it is about someone's ability to appreciate and/or become aroused. Both experiences occurred in me and I loved it!

There's a sub-industry of the entertainment business of "being famous for being famous". Paris Hilton can earn more than I make in a year just getting herself photographed outside some trendy hot spot. Many of those celebreties getting themselves photographed at charity events are being paid by the charities to show up. Actresses in designer gowns are often paid big bucks by the designers to wear the clothes and mention the name. If Lohan drinks herself out of a movie career she'll still be able to make a living opening shopping malls in Poland.

What would really jump-start Lohan's career again is if she were to lie low for a long while, give out some information that she is making deep changes in her emotional growth, and then come back acting more contained, not acting out like an abused teenager. Child abuse can be resolved with a very good, very experienced psychotherapist.
The author mentioned that Monroe died of an overdose 6 weeks after her own photoshoot; this is unfortunate as it makes a suggestion that Lohan is equally unstable and may kill herself. We don't want that. She should find some way to get support (not photo layout support; not publicist support*) and recover. She can. I hope she will. Nobody wants to read about another actor's overdose -- it lasts for a little while and then the person is forgotten except by her family; it wouldn't make her last into perpetuity like Marilyn Monroe. It would just be a temporarily frustrating blot on the current sordid celebrity scene.
*Her relationships should not be with the faceless, nameless public but with real people, one-to-one. Dare it. Quietly. At home. And with a (good) psychotherapist in her office. Risk it.
