Obama Deval Speeches

NY Times:

Senator Barack Obama adapted one of his signature arguments -- that his oratory amounts to more than inspiring words -- from speeches given by Gov. Deval Patrick of Massachusetts during his 2006 campaign.

At a Democratic Party dinner Saturday in Wisconsin, Mr. Obama, of Illinois, responded to Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, who has criticized him for delivering smooth speeches but says they do not amount to solutions to the nation's problems, by ticking through a string of historic references.

Now why do people hate Hillary?
Could it be that the thing is hateful?
She makes silly bogus charges at the last minute in an election when she is losing, hoping that some will hear her false charge, overreact and vote on that basis before finding her out.
Why do people hate Hillary?
But that was said before; I plagiarize!

A repeated truth is still a truth. Hateful things often get hated.

Indeed, Mrs. Clinton made some of the same arguments ..."you campaign in poetry, you govern in prose."

That particular political maxim was first uttered in a 1985 speech at Yale University-- by Mr. Cuomo.

"She didn't attribute it to me, although it's in Bartlett's Quotations and they did," the former governor said, laughing.

Talk about calling the Kettle black. This is stupid, pathetic, and signs of desperation.

HOW MANY HUFFPO ARTICLES ARE THERE GOING TO BE ON THIS SUBJECT?

GODDAMMIT!

Just doing the Clinton campaign a favor by perpetuating this non-issue!

Hillary's plagiarisms:

if it is a non issue, then why did you post a link to hillary plagiarism ?

Here we go again...racially charged gutter politic from Clinton, Inc. Hasn't she dropped out yet!
06:18 PM on 02/18/2008
She's plagiarizing Bill's two terms, as if she was elected to them....except for NAFTA, not doing ANYTHING after the '93 trade center bombing, being impeached for lying,...

My wife accused me of plagiarism the other night. I had said, "I love you." And she said that she had heard that before!

Everything that is posted here is plagiarism, using this very loose definition of the word.
Hillary supporters are constantly plagiarizing Hilliary Clinton's campaign slogans, media rhetoric used to describe her campaign.

Do you believe FDR was the only and first person to use "we have nothing to fear but fear itself?"

If this is plagiarism, then everything uttered is plagiarism.

Plagiarism:

Presenting the words or ideas of someone else as your own without proper acknowledgement of the source.

The willful act of presenting another person's work as one's own.

Using another person's ideas or creative work without giving credit to that person.

I recall that both Hillary and McCain have used Obama's "I'm fired up and ready to go" line in their campaign speeches. Is Obama's use of "Just words?" any worse?

These are political slogans, people. Figures of speech. Like, "Where's the beef?", or "I knew Jack Kennedy. You're no Jack Kennedy". No one pretends to own them. They shouldn't. The only question should be, are they appropriate for the context in which they are being used, and in Obama's case, absolutely yes.

Every time she stole a line from him, he's kept quiet http://thepage.time.com/obama-release-on-clintons-languge/

He's kept quiet about it and now that she's calling him a thief, he's still taking the high road and not sinking to her slimy level
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0208/Obama_responds_to_Clinton_call.html

This is why he's bringing so many young and disenfranchised people back to politics. We're tired of the Hillaries and their do-anything-to-get-elected tactics.

He's perfection and everyone who disagrees is crazy. Right.

So if this is plagiarism, what about Billary's plagiarizing this whole attack tactic to begin with? It was Gov. Patrick's opponent (Kerry Healy, a rape-ublican) who claimed Patrick offered lofty rhetoric and no specifics. Sounds familiar, doesn't it? Why doesn't Hilly footnote the origingal attacker? Is it because she's plagiarizing rape-ublican losers?
02:36 PM on 02/18/2008
I just heard Obama's response, and I'm glad he's staying above the slime again.

He should not sink to her level - even if she has a second wind and the race gets more competitive.

Staying above the slime he created? Of course he is. He has his followers continue it.

Sorry folks, this is plagiarism. This is no better or worse than what Biden did in '88. The fact that Biden did it was the SOLE reason I wouldn't consider him in '08.

I won't support Clinton because I have seen her operation up close in Iowa...she doesn't deserve her Senate seat, much less the Presidency. And now, Obama has disqualified himself, at least in my book. So now I have the choice of leaving that space blank on my ballot or casting a protest vote for McCain. Maybe the Dems are destined to be an opposition party....
02:36 PM on 02/18/2008
I'm glad everyone doesn't REASON like you.

Thanks, Republican Plant....Silly, IS THIS WHAT YOU CALL REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY??
02:27 PM on 02/18/2008
so McCain plagiarized all of Regans style then? MY Friends? give me a break. Peeps need to stop hating.
02:26 PM on 02/18/2008
So this is what implosion looks like?

The irony, is that Patrick isn't complaining about it. What Patrick needs to do is say - "hey words are important and they should be repeated". How can you hold copyright on an idea pertaining to Democracy? The Declaration of Independence is not copyrighted and neither is the Constitution.

The Clintons and their "gotcha!" politics are driving people away. The Clintons, look anti-democratic. All this does is solidify how important positive words and ideas are.

It was not Clinton, it was the MEDIA that reported it. Go back to Obama HQ and tell them that.......ROTFLMAO!

I bet if Obama farts while delivering his plagiarize speeches, you'd blame Hillary too.
02:28 PM on 02/18/2008
Well the media has had that cynical attitude since Bill Clintons administration, post Lewinsky.

It's time to "get us outta here."
02:32 PM on 02/18/2008
Uh... no.

The times story of 2 days ago was about the use of the phrase "just words."

But Howard Wolfson created THIS story with the false claim of "plagiarism." This is turd was laid by Clinton and she's the one who'll be held accountable for it.
