Lindsay's Mom: Nude Marilyn Shoot Was Tasteful Art

Lindsay Lohan's mom Dina has spoken out on the new photospread her daughter did for the new issue of New York Magazine. Dina told People that it's fantastic and that her daughter has always been a big fan of Marilyn Monroe, whose last nude photoshoot was recreated by Bert Stern with Lindsay.

"It was very tastefully done," Dina tells PEOPLE of the photos... "I respect the photographer as an artist, so I look at them artistically. For him to call Lindsay 46 years later and to say can you recreate these photos is an honor. I looked at it as art, and as Lindsay doing a character. So I don't look at them like it's Playboy; she was being a character. So if you look at it that way, you can look at it as a mother."

And Dina adds that had the photos been inappropriate, Lindsay's sister Ali would not have visited the set. "Trust me," Dina tells PEOPLE, "I wouldn't have sent my 14-year-old to the set [if the shoot was in bad taste]. And obviously Lindsay wouldn't do anything with her sister there, that was risqué."

Dina also revealed how Lindsay got ready for the shoot. "Lindsay did 250 crunches before because she was nervous since she had never done anything like that before," Dina said.

I'm sorry but Dina Lohan sounds as if she is as dumb as they come. And she is extremely cheesy looking too. What a great role model she is. While I did not consider those pictures to be porn, I would never call them art. No wonder why her daughter is so messed up. There is nobody looking out for her best interest.

She has talent, but she has thrown it all away, which is what's sad. I was on a plane with nothing better to do, so I watched her in Freaky Friday. She's not Lucille Ball as a comedienne, and she's not Sarah Vaughan as a singer, but she did a damn good job for a teenage kid. I remember thinking to myself, "she's going to be huge!", and afterwards it has just been a wasted, dissolute descent for her.

The pictures themselves were O.K. In my opinion they were tasteful, but the wig, the lighting, were horrible.

This is such a very sad dysfunctional family. This "mother" is blind to what's really going on. The entire family are media junkies.

Lohan looks like a cheap WalMart knock-off of the original. Is that "Made in China" stamped on her butt? Really very sad.

As a child she showed talent. Now she shows her breasts. Too bad her IQ is the same as her bust size.

And contrary to what Lohan's mother thinks, ol' Bert has certainly tarnished his previous work. There's nothing sensual about these shots. Perhaps his eyesight is failing. Repeating what you did decades ago and now doing it badly is not proof of artistic merit. In this case ol' Bert is as sad as Lohan. You have to wonder whose ego was bigger in the room, Bert's or Lohan's? Oh wait, it was the mother's.

The photo of Lohan with the pink cloth in her mouth is nice, but I agree that the shot that shows the tattoo on her ass is less than glamorous. Did Marilyn have tattoos? I'm guessing "no".

Take a look at Stern's website for a stunning photo of Drew Barrymore. She looks sensual and lovely. Lohan just looks tacky. Barrymore used to be the wild child too with less than noble parents, but she seems to have come out the other side with a soul intact. I don't hold the same hope for Lohan.

Frankly, if she was fine with going topless, I'm surprised she didn't wait for a fat paycheck from a movie to show the twins. I mean, this is an actress that played a stripper but didn't take off any of her clothes. Nice pictures though.

As I recall, this is the same woman who insisted that--"trust me"--Lindsay's excessive partying at age 18 was a normal, exciting outlet for a young girl coming of age. Not sure that worked out so well....

If I were leafing through a magazine, I would consider these bad pictures. For a young woman to look so harsh, with makeup just sitting on her rather than enhancing, looks unprofessional.

The production values are seriously lacking. A professional can create magic with a camera but missed on this.
