I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Stone

As is his wont, the little watched and seldom heeded Tucker Carlson continued to pursue his "hurt America" agenda last night on MSNBC, when he once again invited the so-called wisdom of "legendary Republican strategist" Roger Stone. The topic: how would Republicans take the attack to the Democratic nominee?

There wasn't anything particularly groundbreaking to Stone's analysis: whoever the nominee would be would end up being painted as a liberal, George McGovern would be invoked, and of course, the wild insinuation that voting Democrat is a de facto death sentence for the nation at the hands of jihadists would be made. Along the way, Stone got to call Hillary Clinton a "hack" who "believes in virtually nothing," and, with regards to Obama, Stone got to raise the specter of "assassination." Real authoritative, responsible stuff!

Nevertheless, the stunning disingenuousness of the conversation was enough to inspire a fountain of gorge. How will Republicans attack the candidates? Well, in the specific instance of Roger Stone, the answer is: start a juvenile, anti-Hillary 527 organization themed around a vulgar term for female genitalia (cf. Jane Fonda). That any credible news organization can continue to give wide audience to Stone's wisdom without disclosing his involvement in the campaign season's most brazen obscenity is beyond reason.

Ironically, the one employee at MSNBC who's evinced a willingness to challenge Stone on this regard is David Shuster. The cable news network was without his services last night.

This headline is very misleading. It suggests that one or more of the people who have a show on msnbc are responsible for setting up this group C**t. It seems like this is intentional -- an intentional effort to have a deceptive headline.

I don't like Tucker Carlson, so that's not the point. I just don't know why someone chose to phrase this headline in such a misleading manner.

When you say msnbc hosts founder of the group it seems like you are saying that someone who is an anchor, let's say, someone who has his own program at msnbc, started this group.

I think in almost every article I read, when there's mention of someone appearing on a news show, the word used is "guest." Someone will be a "guest" on this show. Or maybe someone will be appearing on a show, or will be part of a panel.

And again, for everyone who is on the Hillary Clinton pro-Fox vendetta trying to destroy msnbc, I would mention that Rupert Murdoch's Fox tv every minute of every day dedicates itself to destroying our country. There's plenty to attack over there.

msnbc, on the other hand, has many women guests, and minority guests, and progressives -- regularly having people from HP and from Air America. When you realize that the Clintons are being sponsored by Rupert Murdoch, and he is dedicated to destroying msnbc, you might not want to join that lynch mob.

i agree that huffpo may want to rethink their approach to headlines; i often end up feeling like i've been misled and wasted my time searching through the unnecessarily sensationalist headlines for the non-gossipy facts/news.

i generally like MSNBC (olberman is excellent), but i just accidently saw a few minutes of tucker carlson's show . . . oh my god! what a fucking IDIOT! how in the world does this guy have his own show. he rivals the stupidity coming from Fox Noise, today saying his interpretation of michelle obama's remark was that "america was a vile, hateful place . . . " is this kind of horseshit reporting really ok with MSNBC?

The idea that Roger Stone's free speech rights should be abridged because some twerp named Jason ( who writes for the Huffington Post because he cant get a job writing for a serious media outlet) doesnt agree with him is more repugnant than Stone's rude website.

You liberals thought it was great when Abie Hoffman and Jerry Rubin used obscenities to denounce the war in Viet Nam. Libs thought it was cool when Mario Savio started the Filthy Speech movement at Berkley.

In fact, Stone has hit it on the head as far as Hillary Clinton is concerned.

Libs like Jason love Free Speech- as long as it is theirs. Super Tuesday's election night coverage featured balanced commentary from those well-known right wingers Tim Russert (ex-Mario Cuomo flack), Chris Mattthews ( ex-Tip O'Neill butt-boy) and Keith Olbermann ( psycho-socialist)- where was the balance. All Democrats all the time.

As for no one watching Tucker Carlson, he has consistantly outperformed Chris Matthews in viewership in the 5 pm hour.

Huffington Post -No facts- just pro-censorship.

MSNBC allowed Carlson to run the story. Today several blogs are calling for O'Reilly's resignation because of the "lynching" reference. Agreed. However, I find this disgusting reference even more offensive, yet very little noise was raised about it. Yes, Huff Post did run this story (but I agree with other writers that the acronym should NOT have been used in the headline). In order to stop people like Roger Stone I went to his web site, (http://www.stonezone.com/) where I discovered he is sponsored by the prestigious law firm Rothstein, Rosenfeld and Adler (http://rra-law.com/). So, would it not be a good idea to cut Stone off at the knees by asking RRS why they would sponsor such filth, and even asking their clients (posted at the RRS web site) why they would use a law firm that sponsors such filth? Without funding, these creeps can't do very much! If we don't let our voices be heard (calling/writing MSNBC is okay too) we deserve to get what they dish out.

Do you mean the same "real authoritative, responsible stuff" as you are posting here knowing it only reached much fewer than half a million people who actually watch Tucker? Heads up HuffPo, you have a log in your eye.

The Swanson frozen food heir is nothing but a rich kid with a cool hobby. Is he entitled to his own opinion? Sure, but it should be pointed out, often, that this full grown twerp's heart isn't really in it; he can easily live with or without it.

Roger Stone soup, boil this lard ass, add carrots and potatoes, and it still tastes like crap.

Yeah, Roger Stone what an incompetent.

He stole the 2000 election in Florida for Bush . He destroyed the Reform Party after they drained voted from the GOP in 1992 and 1996. He ended the career of " the First Jewish President" Eliot Spitzer, after exposing him a short tempered rich kid who thinks laws dont apply to him.

If I was Barack Obama I'd be concerned.

Bring back David Shuster. He is about the only newscaster I trust anymore.
I watched and read the transcript of his "pimping" comment and it is clear that his meaning was deliberately misconstrued for the drama it would cause.

NBC needs to shut down MSNBC altogether before the entire brand is ruined. I will not watch NBC anymore either because it is all run by ignorant baised agenda-seeking losers.

huffington post incites and hosts rabid Obama supporters who are eager to use the word CUNT (if not think it constantly) regarding Clinton and women bloggers who support Clinton.

Oh, please, get a grip. I like Obama, I intensely dislike Clinton. I think her pro-AUMF vote was the most calculated piece of spinelessness in recent Democratic Party history, but she's still better than most of the Republicans.

why does this guy use the word "Democrat" when it should be "Democratic". This is a word Roger Ailes coined to diminsh the Democratic Party. First, it is not the name of the party. Second, it's bad grammar.

Please, this is not about Republicans, it's about some very offensive behavior. Tomorrow, Republicans, male and female, will come out in droves to discredit this group. I smell a rat.

Spirited Dona says-- I always thought David Shuster was good people. If he knows the C word is disrespectful, I'm vindicated! Roger Stone? I guess he missed Tina Fey's excellent, The C Word, 30 Rock, Season, One, where it is so disrespectful that the most clever woman writer could think of no come back-- for days. Ironically, NBC / MSNBC. If you dislike women hide from us at home constantly. You will not see us. You sure as to God won't see us seeking out you. P.S Jane Fonda didn't call anyone a C. She just got overwelmed by 2 V'S; monologues and Meredith Vierra! Haven't we all?

Huffpo - two headlines across the top of your media page right now read "Cavuto: Hillary Running Away From Her "Tough, Bitchy Image" and "MSNBC Hosts Founder Of Anti-Hillary Group "C.U.N.T."

If you feel no sense of shame, you have lost any modicum of integrity you might once have laid claim to.

It's ironic that Republicans suddenly hate "empty rhetoric" when they are still swooning over Ronald Reagan 20 years later.

The republican pundits of radio and TV will bare grave responsibility for the rapid decline of the United States. They preach hate, tell the country what to think and "NO Child Left Behind" is raising a generation of test takers. Americans are hating Americans for their political views. Who's country is this? The republicans? What about the founding fathers visions and ideals? Where is this country heading? Does name calling solve the nations problems? Should we work together?

I could go on...
