Sen. Hillary Clinton began giving a speech on Tuesday night shortly after Wisconsin's results came in. But within minutes, Sen. Barack Obama appeared in Texas to give his victory speech, and the networks cut Clinton off. Ouch. Watch it:

If Hillary wants to be covered by the media she needs to try to actually win one of these primaries... Obama should have started cutting her off back during his SC victory speech - when she started trying to pretend no contest had happened and stopped congradulating him. I heard they didn't intend to cut her off, BUT i they should have! Its called karma...

Hillary is boring,

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:18 PM on 02/20/2008

Two things:

1. Hillary did not congratulate her opponent in her loosing speech.

2. She did not thank the people in WI who took the time out to vote for her.

She's showing her true colors. She is a sore looser and venomous candidate. People are talking about her lack of humbleness. She just keeps digging a hole for herself.

I don't want my president to have these traits.

It wasn't a concession speech. She wasn't thanking her supporters from Wisconsin, and had no plans to thank them. This was a commercial for somewhere else (always 'somewhere else'). The media trained their cameras on the winner of the Wisconsin Primary--just as they should have.

There's good reason the networks did this. I remember a story someone told me. It's the kind of story you hear not from someone who was there, but from someone who knew someone who was there.

There was another network that pulled away from an Obama speech to go to Clinton live.

So later that night, Obama goes in, and kills everyone in the newsroom - the producers, the techs, the anchor, everyone, until he gets to the last producer. He lets the last producer go.
He waits until the election is over and then he goes after the rest of the network. He kills their kids, he kills their wives, he kills their parents and their parents' friends. He burns down the houses they live in and the studios they work in, he kills advertisers that owe them money. And like that he was gone. Underground. Nobody has ever seen him since. He becomes a myth, a spook story that media people tell their kids at night. "Rat on your pop, and Barak Obama will get you." And no-one ever really believes.
You see, Wolf Blitzer once told me he didn't believe in God, but was afraid of him. Now, I believe in God and the only thing I am afraid of in this world is Barack Obama.
The greatest trick Obama ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.

And like that... he was gone.

Does that make Hillary the equivalent of Keaton? We all thought Keaton was Soze until Verbal popped him? :D

The media's coverage of last nights primaries was deplorable. Barack Obama decided to begon speaking a few minutes into HRC's speech and the networks dropped her in favor of Barack Obama. Critics argue that he was miffed about Hillary's lack of a concession, or that it is the media's standard practice of favoring the winner in any political contest. This arguement is pure BS for several reasons.1) At the time Hillary was making her speech only 30% of the results were in in WI, so it would have been a bit premature at that point.2) Nobody at the networks or the Obama camp knew she wasn't going to concede to BHO: they CUT HER OFF! How did they know what she would or would not say.3)Barack was given 50 plus minutes of air time; which is an UNHEARD of favor in the broadcast world. The networks only dropped the feed after people in the Houston audience started heckling him over his remarks on immigration.4)Lastly, we have a little thing in the news-media called time delay...Not ONE network even bothered to replay the remainder of Hillary's speech. I guess they didn't like her message.....

Your wong, they did re rerun her speech after the Hawaii votes came in. It was really late, however. But, Obama knew once Wisconsin vote's proved him the winner, he had to do exactly what Mccain did---Give a Immediate victory speech before the Millions of t.v watchings switched the dial. It was imparative Obama answered Mccain criticism. It wasn't aimed at Hillary, and needed to be stomped down as quick as possible. Mccain is smart enough at this stge to realize he would be running against Obama and came right out an set that tone in his speech. Hillary's speech was the same ol,same ol so you didn't miss much any way. She simplly cannot find the fight or energize the croud. Probally because she lost so adly. So don't blame Obama for takeing advantage of a stradegy she would have used if she was winning and Mccain came out at her that way. Use some common sense.

Senator Clinton changed the time of her speech to try to pre-empt Obama. She played chicken and she lost.

maybe it depends on which part of the country you were but that is not what I saw.

Clinton spoke much earlier than Obama did and was not interrupted for him.

In fact, she was on for a while, following McCain and then Obama later.

From what I could tell she wasn't making a speech just comments and thanks?

"The winner is always heard over the protest of the LOSER" If what you say is true globality, we are all in Big F#*king trouble..There are going to be alot of "LOSERS" in the country whos candidates arent going to be elected to the White House..Do you imply that they shouldn't be heard too? Ponder carefully of the implications of what you say. No more free speech to the "losers"..GW came up with that idea very early on, it's nice to see so many of us have made it a mission to carry on his legacy..

Globality, the custom is for the victor to be gracious in victory and let the runner-up speak first. Obama decided to be petty, vindictive, and childish, and step all over Hillary Clinton's speech not long after she congratulated him on his wins. Why can't you Obamaniacs get your facts straight?

Here is a reality and fact check for everyone, including the other respondents herein.

The three cable news networks go to coverage of a Clinton stump speech in Ohio, (Lets hope everyone is at least smart enough to get that it was a stump speech to promote her candidacy to ohio, and not a speech where she should show defeat or weakness) and a little over three minutes into the coverage of that stump speech the three networks cut off that presidential candidates stump speech to go to another candidates stump speech in Texas, in deferment to and by the fact of doing that defering to the other candidate in a bias way. The networks then proceed to give that other candidate over 50 minutes of air time without interruption, which by the very fact of doing that is special treatment, actually endorsement of one candidate over another candidate. That should be a violation of FCC rules as to a network endorsing one particular candidate over another. And how do the networks who have done this dispicable act make it up fairly to the other candidate. Do they give equal time afterward to the other candidate, do they give equal high-value high viewer time of over 50 minutes to the unfairly and unethically snubbed candidate??? NO. That is by any Political reporters or political Journalists standards Disgusting and detestable and should not be forgiven or forgotten by any honest ethical person, if there are any objective fair onbiased ones left. So the media, at least those three networks, MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News Channel are now supporting Obama above Clinton by that action, as that is what that action as fact means and there is no disputing that fact. Wolfs leading sheep, following rhetoric and empty suits...What a great thinking country we are!!! NOT!

I agree to with your arguments Shaneo. The media has FAR too much power over WHAT we see from each candidate, and how we percieve them..I havent seen a POSITIVE HRC piece any network for so long I cant even remember the last time. It seems the media, having seen the huge ratings they gain from first adoring, then destroying hollywood celebrities (See: Britney, Heath Ledger,Anna Nicole)they have decided to try using the same tactics in political coverage.Ask yourself; when was the last time you saw ANYTHING negative about BHO in the mainstream media?-I trully hope no one out there is naive enough to believe that he has no negatives to bring up..He's a politician; they all have shady dealings..We just arent looking yet because we are still in the rock-star phase of our adoration of him..I just wonder how long it will be before the media turns on him, and starts dragging out all the skeletons in his closet..

Are you going to cry for Hucklebee to? They did play her speech very much later at night-------compared her tired same ol,same ol speech to Mccain and Obama. Sorry no spark there. She didn't thank the people in wisconsin for their hard work------didn't congradualate Obama for 3 more wins. That's now12 in a roll (is it)? any how For months it was Hillary this and Hillary that. So don't deprive Obama for his time He earned!

I listened to Obama because I really wanted to hear his plans. The costs of his plans will be staggering. When one of his campaign workers was asked how he would pay for those give away programs, he cited the war in Iraq was costing 9 billion dollars a month and when Obama ended the war, that money would be used.

Alert, Obama. We're borrowing that money from foreign interests, primarily China, so how would it help the economy to stay on the path of economic destruction by the same insane spending ? Shifting that 9 billion dollars a month to new programs, instead of ending that type of borrowing doesn't make sense.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:46 PM on 02/20/2008

He also said he would eliminate the tax cuts to the top 1%. Which is also another way he intends to promote his plans. Then again you are a Hillary supporter and want to promote her any way you can. Fact is stupidity isn't winning her any more elections.

I am sorry that you Hillary supporters couldn't hear her say "I'm melting... melting". I could name all the reasons why the networks cut to Obama, but Hillary supporters won't accept it. So what I will say is that next time I bet she gets all of her time if she simply complements Obama on his win.

Truth is, they go to her to hear a "concession" speech. They didn't hear one. I can't tell you when she's given one. They had no reason to stay with her once the evening's winner started speaking. If the media was out to get her, I'd like to see that spun on Tweety last night.

Wow, way to be sexist, NoRepresentation. You are a fine example of Barack Obama's politics of positivity, hope, change, and warm fuzzy bunnies and magical unicorns.

How is that remark at ALL a sexist one? Politics aren't about being sensitive and warm and overly PC. He didn't make a sexist statement, maybe you are overly delicate?

Hillary's wasn't even a concession speech. I've never seen her be gracious to Obama. She didn't even acknowledge he existed except to refer to her ability to dominate him.

And yes, they should have dumped her speech for his. She was late, she lost and her little pep rally was no comparison to his filled stadium.

Hillary, you're losing! Unless you're confident you've bought off enough super delegates, it might improve your image to bow out gracefully and solidify your party.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:31 PM on 02/20/2008

Mort, just because a candidate is losing in the short term doesn't mean they can't turn things around. Look at John McCain. And if only the "winners" should be paid media attention, I guess Al Gore should never have contested the 2000 election and should have, instead, gone into political oblivion instead of fighting climate change because Bush "won."

What was the alternative? To continue a filibuster from the candidate that lost instead of hearing from the candidate that won?

The losing candidate generally gives a short speech starting with graciously congratulating the winner.

Hillary did neither of these, but instead engaged in a lenghty speech attacking the winner in her own party's primary. To say the least, that lacks a certain elegance.

I think it's also safe to say that if Hillary would have won, and CNN would not have cut from Obama to Hillary's victory speech, they would have been crying foul over that also.

The good news is that after March 4th, the Clinton circus should be pulling down their tent.

The Clintons have not been good for the DEM party.

They have campaigned to the left, but once safely past the elections, they govern to the right.

If you watch what they do instead of what they say, from campaigning against NAFTA but then signing it into law, to voting for the war in Iraq and then campaigning against it now, their rhetoric may be DEM, but their actions in economics and foreign policy are virtually indistinguishable from the GOP neo-cons.

The Clintons have dominated the DEM party for far too long.

It is time for real change.
