Sen. Hillary Clinton began giving a speech on Tuesday night shortly after Wisconsin's results came in. But within minutes, Sen. Barack Obama appeared in Texas to give his victory speech, and the networks cut Clinton off. Ouch. Watch it:

I think that just shows how the media is bias in favor of Obama. And that is the sign of arrogance in the part of Obama. That has been the practice to let the losing party speak first but he cut in and the network condoned. I wish and I already suggested that Hillary will boycott the debate with CNN and MSNBC. Just campaign and let the people decide.

...she didn't concede, nor thank anybody...why let her pontificate?

Beat me to the punch. I was going to say that Obama interrupting her speech was payback time for her lack of congratulation or concession tonight and many other nights. The Clintons have no class. I noticed that Huckabee congratulated McCain.

Boycott the debates AND let the people decide? I wouldn't hold my breath on that.

Obama knew Hillary was speaking and timed his speech to cut hers off in the middle. Do you think the media called Obama and told him when to take the stage?

It doesn't show any media bias. It shows that Obama WON and that he is a much better speaker. The media bias in favor of Obama is a nice excuse but it is fictional. Television media outlets exist to get ratings. Watching Senator Obama speak is going to bring in and keep more viewers than watching Senator Clinton speak. The problem in that regard lies not with the media but with the lackluster candidate.

Yes, by all means get her to boycott the CNN and MSNBC
debates. Makes great sense since that is her strong suit and the people have already pretty well decided as of the last 10 primaries.

Besides, it will give Obama more time to keep his roll rolling.

Yes We Can in 08

Hillary Clinton is a street thug and Obama is knocking her out with a feather. Wisconsin did not like the negative attacks she made on him. I'm just waiting to see what she's got in store for him (and us) on Thursday and into March 4th

Hillary will have a busy day tomorrow, has to disparage the Wisconsin voters as they clearly do not matter, send an angry letter to CNN, scream plagiarism a few times, and spin, spin, spin. Thank you Wisconsin.

Not classy, by any means. Either on the part of the MSM or of the Obama campaign. So this is the guy who wants to bring the party and the country together?

Perhaps your "classy candidate" could graciously concede defeat and thank the voters -- for a change.

He is the one who talks of lofty ideals and taking the high road and bringing people together- empty words, as McCain called them.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:53 PM on 02/19/2008

Hillary didn't give in concession in her speech and Obama didn't want to give her free time to blast him, very understandable.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:50 PM on 02/19/2008

Very pragmatic and gentlemanly civil .... just casually walks out to applause and smiles before beginning his fine speech ... it's called getting the job done.....

The queen and her court should get used to the fact that what goes around comes around. But in this case his toss-back drew no blood .....I loved it ..... trying to remember what classic play this little saga reminds me of?

I'd say this man has shown he will be prepared to take it to McCain!

Next comes the debate ~ and it was Hillary who said months ago "now comes the fun". I'll stock up on popcorn and cracker jack for a ring side seat to see if she is laughing.

Go Obama in 08!

the "not classy" part was refusing to congratulate Obama on the WI win...her call, sorry but no free press. Bye now, its over.

Obama is the classless. Why did'nt he wait for her speech to end? This will be a big issue the next day and everybody will now know the arrogance of this empty candidate. They are odd couple, Michelle I mean. Both arrogant?

I had heard that OBAMA always waited for her to finish before he came on, but tonight was different. I think it was a brilliant move: he doesn't owe her anything, he is the front runner, and it's kind of payback for all the negativism The Clintons have piled on him. Then he talked for about 45 minutes so the networks never went back to her. Just brilliant, and just deserved by Hillary Clinton.

BTW, there was nothing "empty eloquence" about it: he basically laid out the Democratic platform for November.

politely shutting down your opponent, bodes well for the change agenda.

The media are the ones who switched to Obama, he didn't have anything to do with it.

It's also just payback for her unclassy failure to acknowledge his wins after the Maryland, Virginia, DC primaries. Tonight he waited to see if she'd repeat that discourtesy and when she didn't, he made the right strategic move. This isn't kindergarden and she is the one setting the tone now.

hmmmmm..... getting interesting.
Wonder if it would have made a difference for her if she would have made a definitive and strong statement with the telecom immunity vote...I think that if she would have addressed her Iraq war vote honestly and been present and voted through on the telecom immunity bill she might have much stronger ground to stand on...
Obama plays a strong game...

Guess it all really depends on the DNC - if they decide that Hillary will be a better bet to face McMummy, then none of this is going to matter... they do have a history of going limp and doing the stupid thing when they have the option so its hard to guess if Obama will actually get a shot.
At this point I have my doubts that Obama would choose her as a running mate... I wouldn't. Unity has nothing to do with it, I think she brings a lot of devisiveness and Obama could head off a lot of it by simply choosing someone else for a VP.
that and 4.25 will get you a frappucino at Starbucks...

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:44 PM on 02/19/2008

As to her being offered the VP slot, Obama would have to find out if she would have Bill included in the deal and if his old office could be freed up as a courtesy to an elder statesman.

Seriously, I don't think she fits the job description he has in mind ...... it includes things like: able to foster hope, gets along with others; in to win but not for the glory; would let his girls interview Chelsea, etc. You catch my drift ......

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:59 PM on 02/19/2008

I hear that the Obama campaign would have let her go on without interruption until it became obvious again that she wasn't going to concede or congratulate Obama...

It was HallaRIOUS, TPM had a story that she was going to be negative in her speech tonight and OBAMA, with his DOUBLE DIGIT, FOR REAL, NO FAIRYTALE, LEAD, stepped all over her boring, uninspiring, trifling, little Speell, BWAAH. And he delivered his FULL STUMP, and everybody carried it and nobody heard a word she said. CLASSIC MOVE OF THE MILLENIUM.

According to Ben Smith at Politico:
"Hillary Clinton times her speech to pre-empt Obama's...and now Obama's taking the stage in Houston as Hillary speaks -- a challenge to the networks.

But they can hardly resist a victory speech."
