Tim Gunn: Hillary Clinton Confused About Her Gender

Tim Gunn, the creative director for Liz Claiborne, star Bravo's "Project Runway" and host of "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style" stopped by Conan last night to offer some fashion criticism about Hillary Clinton. In a recent Newsweek he broached the subject, suggesting Senator Clinton could learn from Nancy Pelosi's dress sense. He went further on Conan saying, "I think she's confused about what her gender is. She's so mannish in her dress."

At the risk of raising PC here, aside from all the homophobic comments, is a group not heard from here -- those who really do have gender confusion and who are suffering with it or who are transsexuals. Walk a mile in these folks's Jimmy Chu's or whatever before making glib comments.

Tim Gunn knows his stuff.
I am a Hillary supporter, but I do wish she'd raid Nancy Pelosi's closet and nab some of her Armani suits.
But at this point, nothing Hillary wears, says or does will help. Unless she can quickly grow a penis, America hates women far too much to vote for one as president.

I've been critical of most of Sen Clinton's choice of ensembles since her 1st lady days.
Now that she's in the boy's club, though, she has to appear tough and Presidential so she goes for the unattractive pants outfits. I mean, look what happened when she wore a v-neck top once, all the criticism about cleavage? And the beautiful fuscia jacket was critized too.
She's in a lose-lose on this one.

I couldn't stand listening to the little twerp so I don't know for sure but somehow I'll bet he didn't discuss Obama's suits, or McCain's pants. So for all those who ask what the big deal is, that's it. There is still a double standard and even though its subtle junk like this sends the message that women need to look like objects while men do the serious work. For the record: I'm male and support Obama.

i'm kinda surprised he woulda said something like that. i doubt he meant it in the context it was taken, but it sounds pretty rude -- and he's generally a really likable guy.

Why are people so offended that Gunn commented on Hilary's attire - he's a fashion consultant - did you expect him to discuss world issues? At least he speaks on topics where he has some expertise, unlike some of the Hollywood-types who think they know all about foreign policy!

Whether we follow fashion or not, Tim Gunn does and fashion is his expertise. I suggest people consider the source before they get all worked up. We're talking about clothes here - not world issues. What does it say about voters if they cast a ballot based on a candidates clothing? Defend Clinton's political choices, not her wardrobe for crying out loud. Do you honestly think SHE cares what Tim Gunn thinks?

Hillary Clinton dresses like most of the older women at my church and like my boss's wife (who isn't older, just very conservative). Has nothing to do with her "gender."
