Bloomberg: "Fraud" Behind Low Obama Vote In New York

Mayor Bloomberg charged yesterday that "fraud" was behind the unofficial results in the New York Democratic presidential primary that produced zero votes for Barack Obama in some districts.

"If you want to call it significant undercounting, I guess that's a euphemism for fraud," said the mayor.

So lets see he accuses somebody of fraud and does nothing, big deal, paying lip service to something that he has no proof of and does not care to add support to any sort of investigation, so whats so good about that? If he was serious in his accusation you would think he would at least suggest that an investigation should be launched.

The knowledge about lousy voting machines has been around since 2001 and again in 2004, nothing has been done about it. (i think maybe california did a little) but in general it hasn't been discussed until now. Was there ever any hearings done? So now the elections are just around the corner and everyone is concerned. What to do?

Good old Diane Feinstein (who gave us attorney general Mukasey) was on the committee to look into election reforms. She declared a year ago that 2008 was too close to do anything, and tabled reforms for 2012 (which is when she is expected to retire) Meanwhile, Diebold still refuses to release information about it's software. Although now that I think about it, I remember reading an article with some women who said he was mean to them because they were pregnant or he implied they couldn't work for him because they wouldn't make work a priority but it was a long time ago so I can't remember where I read it.

And maybe it was about Rudy but I think it wasn't. We can't have men like that for president.

Don't know why Obama isn't making an issue of this. Perhaps his camp realizes no point in getting side tracked and wasting resources I suppose. Had this been Hillary however, I suspect she would be making a HUGE deal of it.

In NYC we use the same machines that they did back in the 1960's when as a little kid my mother used to pick me up and let me flip down the little levers for her, then pull back the big handle to record the vote and open the curtin.

Yes it would be surprising because she has done a lot for those communities and they would not have the health care for their children if she and Schumer had not fought long and hard for it. These constituents now have better choices with regard to second opinions and choice of hospitals. They also have better access to general healthcare, which they did not have before. Back in the day, lower income residents in NY would have had to go to city hospitals and often times receive inferior treatment. Now they can go to very reputable hospitals like Lenox Hill on the upper East side for surgeries.

Go back and find the Sunday NYT article which clearly said there were some districts in NY that reported Clinton having 0, though not as many. But this article does rile up the Obama crowd that rarely, apparently, goes to other sites to check out original sources.

I think a 'handful' could be considered - human error , but 80 is more like a 'bushel'.

I believe the "undercounting" were to create the perception that the margin of victory for Clinton was greater than it actually was.

Sure, the official votes will be counting, the correct results tallied and the correct margin of victory reported, but a month after Super Tuesday.

There is a possibility that Barak Hussein Obama may choose to say nothing in public or private about these instances, even when he begins his term as POTUS. Mayor Bloomberg has the experience to make further inquiries about this situation & a personal fortune to pay for these inquiries. This could become very interesting if Mayor Bloomberg continues his inquiries into this situation. Mike Bloomberg is a very powerful person in finance & politics. It will be most interesting to see if Mike Bloomberg will press for further inquiries into this situation. As they used to say in Iran before Iran became an Islamic Republic & a de facto theocracy, "All hell will break loose if a fit hits the shan.". Heavy duty haz-mat garb, precautions & processes won't be of much use if Mayor Bloomberg goes on with inquires re: this situation. The shit will hit the fan & the blow back will be at 500 mph or more till the inquiries end. That could take years. Some of those involved in this situation who have engaged in dodgy conduct could be spending a very long time in a super-max prison under less than comfortable conditions if they serve time in a New York City or New York State prison.

Corrupt, corrupt, corrupt. NY needed Fed intervention on it's elections a long time ago. When carpet-baggers without any real results for NY's improvement are able to rise to power (Rudy & Hillary, cases in point, but by far not the only ones, you should see the mess of corruption in Albany) Florida's got nothing on NY's electoral shenanigans. I knew this before a single primary vote was cast. Watching the poll sites carefully weren't enough but at least I made sure my local polling sites knew there were eyes watching & someone taking names enough to spook them into carefully following procedure.

Nice of Bloomy to join the party wagon long after we were already on our way down the road. You want fair results in NY? Better get the Feds involved, because it ain't gonna happen, even with Bloomy's "I'm for the common man" rhetoric.

Well, if you are going to use the famous journalist Edward R. Murrow's ending comment on CBS News in the fifties as your post name, you might want to also imitate his behavior of checking facts. If you had, you would know that the NYT reported over the weekend that both candidates received 0 votes in several districts. (Though, admittedly, Obama in quite a few more). The reason we who are a little older had such trust in him, was we knew Edward R. Muffow vetted his news stories before opening his mouth or typing his story. That is a practice sadly missing on HuffPo posters commentors.

I'm a little older too Geo. And I watched my polling site turn me away because my ID address didn't match my registration address. I took the name of the denier, I proceeded to grab a paper ballot, and I filled it out and sealed it. Then I stuck around to watch others get turned away for the same reason. I took more names, I reminded the "older" poll site volunteers the paper ballot is valid if the information was incorrect for some registered democrats, and I passed out the paper ballot. People got visibly nervous and started getting their act together.

There is supposed to be a police officer at the sites...none where I was.

The selection of poll personnel is limited and in an information vaccum.

It's only a $10 penalty for failure to return the voter registration book with the ballots. That's it. If it gets lost, a poll worker gets $10 deducted. Wow.

If it was a case of fraud, weren't the perpetrators pretty stupid to erase all evidence of votes for Obama? Wouldn't that have been a dead giveway?
