David Letterman Makes Fun Of John McCain

Last night David Letterman ripped into septugenarian presidential candidate John McCain. Letterman made a couple quips that could definitely offend the ARRP community. He framed McCain as the stodgy old man that looks "like the old guy at the barber shop," "a Wal-mart greeter," "the guy who is always early for the 'Early Bird Special'," and "the guy at the supermarket who is confused by the automatic doors."

When Romney made a fool of himself by asking some black kids: "Who let the dogs out?", and commenting, "Oh, I couldn't help noticing that your baby has some bling-bling", McCain visted the same kids and repeatly said, "Dyno-mite!"

Aren't Huffpost bloggers a little classier than this? And Letterman as well? Criticize McCain for his stand on issues, or his changes on issues - but his age? Instead of respecting age and wisdom, you are denigrating it - and McCain, of all people. I don't know too many people, of any age, who could keep up his schedule. You should all be ashamed of yourselves - and if you're lucky, you'll be older one day. Think about how you'd like to be treated. (ANd I'm an Obama supporter.)

I'm glad someone remembers this besides me. It was this very incident that caused me to lose all respect for the man. I am a registered democrat with a left leaning bent, but I always respected McCain as one of the few right wing pols who stuck to his convictions even when it went counter to what his party wanted. After he let the Bush/Rove spuzz machine jizz all over his family and reputation and then smiled and kissed Gee Dumbya's glove I lost that respect for him and knew that he wasn't really a "straight talker" or a maverick. When he threw his lot behind Chimptastic again in 2004 I knew he had no scruples. Its one thing to let an opponent shit on you and still smile- that's politics. But talk shit about my wife and family and there's no reconciliation possible. Or for my right wing peeps who may be reading this blog, "Them therz fightin' wurdz!"
