Lindsay Lohan's Nude Marilyn Monroe Photoshoot: The Outtakes Are Released

New York Magazine has had a huge week with the photoshoot of Lindsay Lohan recreating a spread Marilyn Monroe did with Bert Stern. The magazine's site even went down Monday because of all the traffic. Now, as traffic has no doubt subsided since Monday, they've released five more shots, like the one below, as bonus outtakes.

If she did this for the right reasons, fine. If she is doing this for attention, the girl needs to grow up. Nobody will replace Monroe. Marilyn was a classic. This wanna be, needs to realize, she needs to be careful what she does with her career. Some directors will not hire her again, or at all given her past history. Posing nude can be the end of a career in this industry. People won't take her seriously. If she is out to prove she can do nude scenes, a film shoot and a still are very different. She may find what she was ok with in a single setting she might not want in film. Then again if she is a nympho, I am sure she doesn't care.

Let's get real. Marilyn could be a decent comic actress, but she was an inconsiderate pain-in-the-ass to work with (Tony Curtis said kissing her was like kissing Hitler) who would show up hours late for a movie shoot, if she showed up at all. She used sex to get ahead in her career and in the end was overweight, drugged-out, a studio liability and on her way to oblivion. Thank God for our memories and her legacy she died when she did or she'd be remembered more like a Shelly Winters than the icon she became.

Marilyn had class, beauty, style, grace and sex appeal. Lindsay has none of these qualities. She looks hard, cold and dead in these pictures. There's nothing pretty or sexy about her. The wig is awful. Why would anyone in their right mind try to recreate something so breathtakingly original? I find this offensive on so many levels.

finding it "offensive" is stupid, and makes you look stupid for saying so. other than that i agree. Lindsay Lohan is one of the all-time most overrated pseudo-sex symbols. had she not been a child star she'd be working as a greeter at Applebee's after failing out of high school.

and after viewing these photos of truly beautiful Marilyn, I have to agree with those commenters who've said that Scarlett Johannson would make a much better Marilyn lookalike model.

I am a hetero woman and yet I can certainly appreciate the difference between a Lohan and a Monroe. I can see how men would have adored Marilyn and scratch my head over what is the least bit unique or special about Lohan. She's a zzzzzzzzzz.

Lindsay Lohan is a pretty enough girl, and an okay actress. She's had her share of troubles, poor dear.

But, Marilyn Monroe had a certain something, a sparkle...just think of her in "Some Like It Hot". She was an under rated comedienne actually, as well as a femme fatal. Also recall her in "Seven Year Itch".

Additionally her famous wiggle couldn't possibly be attempted by Ms. Lohan, as Ms. Lohan doesn't have anything in the back of her, to wiggle. MM was nothing if not curvy with body language that has never been replicated.

Beyond looks, however, I think MM is vastly underestimated as an actress. "Bus Stop" was another great acting performance as was "The Misfits". Unfortunately what Lohan has in common with MM is that they both could not appear on set dependably and kept the cast waiting. In MM's case, I think, however, she was worthing waiting for.

Don't forget how to marry a millionaire...she really was stunning. I do like Bus Stop the best of all...and even in her small role in All About Eve (she is the date for that stuck up tehater critc) she steals the scene.

She was also really really smart ....but just an empotional idiot I guess.

Ms Lohan has a body very like my girlfriend had 20 years ago. It is a style of beauty I appreciate. I really think most of you are confused. You dont like other things about her behavior and so you criticize for not being pretty or not being as pretty or sexy as Marilyn. I dont know what if anything she was attempting to do or say in this instance but your confused motivation in attacking her looks is transparent and ridiculous. this is the sort of misdirection that leads to a muddied thought process. Being physically unattractive is Not the problem Ms. Lohan should address as her first priority. She is a very different style of beauty than Marilyn but she is a nice example of her own style.

I am wondering how the whole photoshoot even came about. Some photographer approached Lindsey with the idea or did her publicist think up this stunt. Either way, Lindsey heard the idea, agreed to it and probably thought it would be an ego boost to show the world how great she is.

What she does not realize is that she is /not/ that great. To literally compare yourself visually to Marilyn Monroe is excessively over confident, especially if you cannot pull it off. I think most of us here agree to that. I think Lindsey needs to reevaluate her career if she wants to remain relevant.

Can't anyone today do anything original? Hell, even the Iraq invasion is a "Part II," and certainly not as well done as the first one. The only irony is that Marilyn began her career posing nude. Lohan has nothing left but this sad copycat attempt.
