Pundits and reporters constantly use them to tell us who's hot and who's not -- but skip over the fact that plummeting response rates and variables like undecided voters and margins of error and often render these polls useless as anything other than lightweight diversions on par with horoscopes and political betting lines. 2,000 state of Ohio adults were interviewed 02/17/08 and 02/18/08. Of them, 1,789 were registered to vote. Of them, 478 were determined by SurveyUSA to have already voted in the 03/04/08 Democratic Primary, or to be likely to vote at the precinct on Election Day. Margin of error was +/-4.5%.
