Within hours of the New York Times story going public, Vicki Iseman's bio was pulled from the web site of her firm, Alcade and Faye.

I don't care, or want to read about McCain having an affair. If that's the whole story, it's old news anyway. He did the same thing openly and notoriously while still married to and living with his first wife.

However it is news worthy if he had an affair while voting to impeach the President for having an affair.

I mean we do have a right to know how many legislators besides Newt Gingrich were this slimy.

It is also news worthy if he had an affair with a telecom lobbyist and then voted for retroactive immunity from crimes for telecom companies.

The less I think about McCain's sex life the better for my sanity.

But voting for something as important as impeaching a president when that vote reeks of hypocrisy and posturing, and a very real likelihood of tit for tat political influence by lobbyists on issues very important to the American people - those are things we should all know about!

I think everyone's missing the point of the article, including those who are lambasting the Times for making a big deal about it. Its focus is that McCain is a bit tone deaf about the appearance of possible conflicts of interest, which can come back to bite him in the general election. In view of his (a) entanglement in the Charlies Keating scandal, and (b) his sponsorship of McCain-Feingold, he has to be "cleaner than Caesar's wife." But, he just doesn't get it, and stumbles into awkward appearing situations.

The issue is not how deep McCain went into Vicky the lobbyst, the question is is how deep is McCain involvement with selling his influence to corporations via lobbyst. That story goes at least to the Kitting 5 where McCain should have received more than a slap on the wrist; in fact his career should have ended there.

I will say, I knew Vicki around the year 2000. She was a very cool lady, fun, friendly, very nice to lowly staffers, treated her gay employees fabulously, and had a very infectious cheerful personality. It wouldn't surprise me if people she was lobbying hit on her, but I seriously doubt that any such attentions would have been reciprocated. Trust me, the picture does not do her justice, and she was too smart to do something like that.

Perhaps you are right. But power is an aphrodisiac and no one can know for sure what one does when no one is looking especially for influence. And I don't trust McCain. He seems willing to sell his soul for his goal. Witness his hugging Bush who humilitated his wife in front of the world. And his pandering to the religious right by giving a commencement speech to Bob Jones University, a University that until recently disallowed dating between Blacks and Whites. And his recent stance on torture flip flopping for his political career. So at least from his perspective I could see his taking advantage. And one final comment. If Vicki was so cool to gay people, what the hell is she doing supporting the Republican Party?

This is correct, which is why I defend Clinton as well. These unfortunate incidents not only occurr due to an imbalance of power, as many feminists would have us believe, but because many of these females are ruthless and try to get whatever they can at the expense of the politician's families and careers. Haven't we all heard never kiss and tell.
Somehow today's generation of 40 and under failed to learn this and to show decency and class with respect to their past relationships. I am not exhonerating the politicians, but there is always three sides to every situation. Clinton would never have been raked through the coals if Monica Lewinsky had respected the privacy of their relationship and not blabbed to Linda Tripp, a most untrustworthy employee.

It's interesting that they pulled her bio when the story came out, and then they stuck it back on the site, picture and all within a few hours. I guess whatever dope is in charge, realized it looks more suspicious to delete her, than to acknowledge her. And these are the clowns that are peddling influence in DC and vying for all our taxpayer dollars. This whole political system is so broken and tawdry.

Actually, I know one, the wife of a former Senator (now ex) - she is as cold & lifeless as they come, very pretty, looks like a semi-living doll. And I have never, in my life, known a woman who had so many extra-marital lovers, nor was so obsessed with sex.
