Olbermann Slams O'Reilly For "Lynching Party" Remark

Last night on "Countdown," Keith Olbermann slammed Bill O'Reilly for saying on his radio show, "I don't want to go on a lynching party against Michelle Obama unless there's evidence." In an ironic twist, Olbermann used the words of President Bush — who just last week said, "Some Americans do not understand the effect that references to nooses and lynching can still have" — to excoriate O'Reilly's insensitive remark.

Maybe Olbermann can clean this up for the rest of us on tonight's show, here is what I have come up with so far:

White people can't say: articulate, noose, lynch, n-word, etc.

Black people can say whatever they want to whoever they want without a story. Rappers can have names like Lynch Mob, Brotha Lynch but receive no criticism.

Lynching is not a casual thing. There might be a picture still on the web of a lynching with all the white trash smiling as two black men dangled dead. Life magazine. I saw it when I was little and I could not believe people could be so horrible. Look at that picture sometime and see if it gets into your thick skull, that this euphimism has no place in this society anymore, whether or not a "rap" group uses it.

Olberman admits when he makes mistakes, and he does it sincerely. He has put himSELF on his own 'worst persons in the world' list when he has screwed up. He is transparent, doesn't pretend he can be neutral (just as walter cronkite didn't pretend to be neutral), and is the modern-day Edward R. Murrow.

But he never calls Chris Matthews on the carpet. He called out other network anchors, specifically a fox, who altered Michelle Obama's quote, but Chris Matthews did the SAME thing last night. Not only that, he suggested on Morning Joe that Michelle Obama was a closet Black militant. And Olbermann did NOT say a word about it. Chris Matthews is no longer a journalist, and he needs to go!

I seem to remember a guy named Martin Luther King who wanted us to be exactly that.

Do you even know what lynching was? It is an American invention exprelly to hang and dismember African Americans. Why would you even want to associate yourself with such a word? Last night, I watched Keith O and Gene Robinson of the Washington Times talk in detail about what lynching was and what it really meant. They were both right to be appalled at B.Oreilly, but I was thinking yeah Keith your network has said a lot of disgraceful and inappropriate things yourselves.
