I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Bill Oreilly Michelle Obama

First, there was the offensive remark. Then, the producer's defense of the comment, followed by the requisite Olbermann weigh-in. And, finally, the apology: on his show last night, Bill O'Reilly apologized for saying, "I don't want to go on a lynching party against Michelle Obama unless there's evidence." O'Reilly's exact words:

"While talking to a radio caller, I said there should be no lynching in the case, that comment off Clarence Thomas saying he was the victim of a high tech lynching (he said that on 60 Minutes, you may remember). I'm sorry if my statement offended anybody. That, of course, was not the intention. Context is everything."

Watch:

Bill'O in your apology you said you would not participate in a LYNCHING of a black female. You said, as you referred to Mrs. Obama, you were thinking of Clarence Thomas. Suppose that were true. Who were you thinking of when you said "unless" you decided to lynch her. Also Bill'O shouldn't you have used the term "hi tech lynching" when channeling Clarance Thomas? Lastly your apology should have been extended to all those who were justly offended. Your wording could imply your correctness and the offendeds error.

There was no need for O’Reilly to give his apology in the subjunctive mood, because he knew that he had offended many Americans when he spoke of organizing a lynching party regardless of the context.

I bet O'Reilly is apologizing, he just made a terrorist threat against the wife of a presidential candidate. Yeah he should apologise, and he should be off the air like Imus was. His statement was a thousand times worse than Imus I might ad. He should be cited for his threat, and go to trial as well.
I made this the topic of my latest weekly cartoon, it's up at my website now.

Still waiting for the apology he owes his fans for the automatic IQ drops he's responsible for when they tune in.

O'Reilly Factor = the Medusa of Media - all ugly, all the time. Where's Perseus when you need him.

"I don't want to go on a lynching party against Michelle Obama unless there's evidence." O'Reilly, apologizing for his remarks made concerning Michelle Obama.

It could be assumed, in other words, that Bill O'Reilly would prefer evidence before participating in a lynching. I'm sure evidence would make him feel more justified after lynching an individual who spoke her mind. But, generally speaking, lynching is frowned upon in America - despite our history of indulging in the practice - and one would think that an experienced talk show host would be more aware of the words and phrases he employs to make his points. But O'Reilly is no ordinary talk show host. He's in the propaganda business. And the word, lynching, with or without evidence, was employed tactically to remind his core audience that the presidential contender, Mr. Obama is an African American.

There is no use condemning O'Reilly for his outright ignorance, racism or whatever you want to call it. He thrives on attention whether positive or negative. To be able to really get at this stuff and get it off the air, write to any company that advertises on his show, or any other company that ostensibly supports his commentary. Tell them that you will not be buying anything they're offering until they stop advertising on his show. Ratings or not, reduce the economic value of advertising on his show.

Hey Fake News. Lets see, Imus got canned for "Nappy headed ho's", how about O'riley getting canned for his "lynching party" remark? All's fair and love and race right!!

Fox has got no balls.

Actually this is pretty big news. O'Reilly never apologizes. It may have been a lame apology but it's gotta be one for the record books.

He ought to be fired for making a remark like that. Why should it be acceptable that he just apologize?

I am sorry I was wrong, but I will justify my wrong. He should be thrown off the air. Sat down last night and wrote a letter to Fox, have yet to anything from Media Matters on this one.

Please this makes the Imus remark, look minor compared to the violence implied in the word Lynch. This looks and sounds like firing material yesterday, "Lynching in 2008", take this man off the air NOW.

O'Lielly is a racist thug that uses his bully pulpit to bombastically shout down anyone who disagrees with him. He after all works for Goebbels News...er...Fox News. His boss is Roger Ailes. His BIG boss is Rupert Murdoch. The rotten apple doesn't fall far from the rotten tree. Speaking of rotten apples, I wonder is Sean Hannity is still running from the Ron Paul supporters?
