Conservative Watchdog Group Files Complaint Over Nudity On NBC's "Las Vegas"

On the heels of the FCC attempting to fine ABC affiliates for airing a shot of naked buttocks (which, incidentally, CNN aired by accident during the Serbian riots earlier this week), NBC is under fire from the conservative watchdog group Parents Television Council for allowing naked women to be seen on last week's episode of "Las Vegas."

From the Hollywood Reporter:

The PTC said they filed a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission over NBC's Feb. 15 broadcast of the "Vegas" season conclusion. In the episode, three shadowy naked women are shown on a casino's security monitor.

The complaint comes a day after ABC appealed a $1.2 million FCC fine levied for a nude scene in a 2003 episode of "NYPD Blue." "Vegas" typically airs at 10 p.m., but the PTC noted the show runs at 9 p.m. in the Central and Mountain time zones.

PTC President Tim Winter accused NBC of trying to test the government regulatory agency in the wake of the "NYPD" decision.

"NBC seems eager to test the FCC's resolve to fine stations for violating broadcast decency laws," said Winter. "It's like they're trying to find some sort of standard for making it through FCC's guidelines."

Well, yes. But like any other weapon, it all depends on the intent of the user.

I am not in favor of breast control by any means, and there's certainly nothing wrong with using breasts for hunting non-endangered spieces. But when kids start bringing breasts to school, we have to pause and think whether they have simply become too easy for teenagers to obtain.

I think a sensible program of breast registration would not violate anything in the Second Ammendment, nor would a requirement that those who wish to use breasts be trained in their safe handling. And please, let's try to keep them away from small children, whose natural curiosity can have dreadful consequences.

I enjoyed the video. I wonder at the age of the protesters. My guess is they are about 70 years old or are married and by definition not having sex themselves and basically stay at home. That was funny!!!! I saw it live on CNN and could not stop laughing. The second I saw that I said, here we go again with the conservatives who would have us all dress like pilgrims. If god was happy with a fig leaf, I think he can give us a pass on mooning the tv camera. That was really something to get warped out of shape over?????? I had to look hard to see bare skin. And I kept getting fleeting glances of nudity for several minutes. But, I couldn't really see any distinct body parts. Do these people really imagine this doesn't happen in real life????? I have lived in Nevada for 40 years now and nothing surprises me anymore. I am sick of these 'self righteous do gooders' trying to clean up television. If they don't like it then do like my fundamentalist Christian neighbor's do. Don't have a television in the house. We certainly are a country of PRUDES. I remember in when I lived in Scotland 30 years ago a Soap Opera on regular TV had a woman strip and strut her stuff on a boardroom table. This program was on at 2 in the afternoon on over the air TV. This sort of nudity happend all the time no one thuhg tanythig of itm sort of natural thing. You also seen very little violence and look at us here. We have the highest rape and murder rates per capita of any country in the world something is wrong and I doubt it is because streakers are running around on TV sheeesh. Actually we don't have the highest rape or murder rates in the world. Just off of the top of my head I know that Russia, Columbia and South Africa have higher murder rates. I also know that South Africa is becoming the rape capital of the world. They surpassed us long ago. If you wanted to talk more of rape then I would also include most of the Middle East since forced marriages are the norm and rape really can't be reported in many Muslim nations.

It's sad really. We live in a society where a good percentage of the people are pretty much insane when it comes to displaying the human body. Yet this same group apparently have no problem with the graphic violence shown nightly during prime time on shows like 24, CSI, Law and Order etc. If a tit was shown in the movie the Terminator or T2, they never would have made it out of the editing room.
