Conservative Watchdog Group Files Complaint Over Nudity On NBC's "Las Vegas"

On the heels of the FCC attempting to fine ABC affiliates for airing a shot of naked buttocks (which, incidentally, CNN aired by accident during the Serbian riots earlier this week), NBC is under fire from the conservative watchdog group Parents Television Council for allowing naked women to be seen on last week's episode of "Las Vegas."

From the Hollywood Reporter:

The PTC said they filed a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission over NBC's Feb. 15 broadcast of the "Vegas" season conclusion. In the episode, three shadowy naked women are shown on a casino's security monitor.

The complaint comes a day after ABC appealed a $1.2 million FCC fine levied for a nude scene in a 2003 episode of "NYPD Blue." "Vegas" typically airs at 10 p.m., but the PTC noted the show runs at 9 p.m. in the Central and Mountain time zones.

PTC President Tim Winter accused NBC of trying to test the government regulatory agency in the wake of the "NYPD" decision.

"NBC seems eager to test the FCC's resolve to fine stations for violating broadcast decency laws," said Winter. "It's like they're trying to find some sort of standard for making it through FCC's guidelines."

The typical way these clowns file a complaint is to have monitors of various programs record a clip and the post it on the orginizations websit. This allows members to view the clip that they would never have viewed in the first place and then sign an online petition or complaint form which is then sent to the fcc. This scam is what has led to the increase in complaints that the shithead in charge talks about. Rules should be adopted by said fcc that allow NO online petions or e-mailed complaints and only when there are a majority of complaints from Neilson ratings families can the fcc investigate. There should also be a statute of limitations on how far back the fcc can go to investigate. If you are not outraged enough to sit down and write a letter then you are not outraged.

I think PARENTS should pay more attention and exercise control over what their kids are doing and seeing if they're so worried about what's on tv.

The original statement was indeed on his radio program, but he followed up on his television program the following day to offer a non-apology apology ("I'm sorry if you were offended") and to state he did nothing wrong as he repeated "lynching mob" and "Michele Obama" again. So, he said it on television, and I'm curious as to when this group will file a complaint with the FCC about his racist statements he made on his television program.

My girls are grown but when they were little I felt differently about them watching nude women among clothed men in less than clinical situations. One of the reasons was to help them maintain their self esteem and independent thinking skills within peer group situations. They were becoming teens around the same time as it was becoming fashionable for boys to ask for blow jobs to prove their love (hey it's not sex, you will still be a virgin). So, although I am pretty open minded I was concerned for my daughters' safety and wanted them to grow up a little more before the "temptation" of sex became an everyday in your face thing. By the way, it worked, they are amazing self confident successful women today who thank me for allowing them to extend their childhood innocence a few more years.
