"When This Is All Over, I'm Really Looking Forward To Seeing You"

To her longtime friends, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton sounds unusually philosophical on the phone these days. She rarely uses phrases like "when I'm president" anymore. Somber at times, determined at others, she talks to aides and confidants about the importance of focusing on a good day's work. No drapes are being measured in her mind's eye, they say.

And Mrs. Clinton has begun thanking some of her major supporters for helping her run for the Democratic presidential nomination.

"When this is all over, I'm really looking forward to seeing you," she told one of those supporters by phone the other day.

Mrs. Clinton has not given up, in her head or her heart, her quest to return to the White House, advisers say. But as resolute as she is, she no longer exudes the supreme confidence that was her trademark before the first defeat, in Iowa in January. And then there were more humbling blows, aides say: replacing her campaign manager on Feb. 10, then losing the Wisconsin primary and her hold on the women's vote there last Tuesday.

If she is not temperamentally suited to reckon with the possibility of losing quite yet, advisers say, she is also a cold, hard realist about politics -- at some point, she is known to say, someone will win and someone will not.

"She has a real military discipline that, now that times are tough, has really kicked into gear," said Judith Hope, a friend and informal adviser to Mrs. Clinton, and a former chairwoman of the New York State Democratic Party. "When she's on the road and someone has a negative news story, she says, 'I don't want to hear it; I don't need to hear it.' I think she wants to protect herself from that and stay focused.

"That said, she knows that there will be an end," Ms. Hope said. "She is a very smart woman."

Over take-out meals and late-night drinks, some regrets and recriminations have set in, and top aides have begun to face up to the campaign's possible end after the Texas and Ohio primaries on March 4. Engaging in hindsight, several advisers have now concluded that they were not smart to use former President Bill Clinton as much as they did, that "his presence, aura and legacy caused national fatigue with the Clintons," in the words of one senior adviser who spoke on condition of anonymity to assess the campaign candidly.

Imagine what Hillary is going to owe these special interests who have invested so heavily in her career should she be president. Compare that to the millions of Americans supporting Obama with donations of less than $100 bucks.

Washington is ALL about special interests now. I would hope the Abramoff scandal would let us know why it's so dangerous. But Hillary and McCrazy don't care obviously with their lobbyist connections and money.

what a load of shit. I have given her several installations of donations and I am a citizen. God you people are really over the edge. Do you REALLY THINK he has not received money from special interests? If he is such a leader why has he not introduced one issue, commitee, taken on action to curb this a s a ranking member of Senate? Because all he can do is give speeches.

Your mythic heroine, hillarious, has taken more money from lobbyists than all of the other Democratic + Republic candidates COMBINED.

I would say that she sold her ass and owes these people big time. Some of these also happen to be the same folks that hillarious want to force you to buy health insurance from.

Smells like cronyisms to me.

sammy7 Hillary is number 9 or 10 in Congress who has given millions in special earmarks. Most of her donations come from special interest corporations. You can google her campaign contributors. I am sure you believe in her campaign, its just that if you research where she has received her money, most of it is from corporation and money from very wealthy people.

Is it me, or is Hillary experiencing some rather significant mood swings lately? The literature being mailed out by the Obamites in Ohio is old news. In her defense though, Hillary has been a bit behind the curve recently.

I wouldn't put it as "mood swings" for obvious reasons.

I am not for Hillary but this kind of language is unfortunate. Women have enough trouble with their own biological issues, to have it used against them as an excuse or blame for behavior, in fact its done a lot in the workplace. What I would say is that Hillary seems to be sufferring from too many advisors and a lack of a core plan on how to run her campaign. I would blame Mark Penn, who is still running his consulting business while being her campaign advisor, and Bill, not the hormone rap.

Don't count Clinton out. Obama seems to be a liberal evangelical and I cannot vote for him even though I am a Democrat. I may vote for Nader if Clinton is out.

Liberal evangelical? That's a new one. The Repubs are calling him a non-patriot and a Muslim. But a evangelical? Vote for Nader? Why? It will only be another vote for his ego. His beliefs are secondary to his ego now.

That has to be the silliest thing I've heard yet. "Liberal evangelical"? You must be plagarizing Hillary. Or maybe Rush. Hard to differentiate these days.

"liberal evangelical"

He's barely liberal. Obama and Clinton are the LEAST liberal of all the Democratic candidates and they're the last ones standing.

When someone enters a race for a nomination, isn't it to win? Good for Nader and all but does he really think he can win? Giving an option for those who are "disenfranchised" seems to be an excuse to keep his name in the public. Just running as an option to the other parties when no one even knows his policies is just playing spoiler for Independent voters. And he's even older than McPlain!

What the hell is "comment removed"? If we have to know it was removed, we should see the comment and the reason it was removed. The idea Nazis are back.

Let me see if I understand your post, Savanarola. Show the post that has been removed, so you can see what was posted? Duh, would it then be a removed post? Your logic on the removal makes as much sense as your Nazi remark. Go away.

When will Hillary's tax returns be public? What are they hiding? What will she hide in her co-presidency?

Her vote for the Iraq War caused 4,000 dead American heroes. 19,000 wounded heroes. Countless killed and wounded innocent Iraqis including a wedding party. She did it for political reasons to appear strong on terror.

She loved and supported NAFTA. Then she flip flopped for the election. She only cares about corporate needs. Check out her corporate and lobbyist donors. Obama has taken zero from lobbyists. Zero. McCain's advisros are lobbyists. Even the one's he's not cheating on his wife with.

Well, Hillary did vote for the invasion of Iraq and consistently praised the war until she finally understood the consequences of Obama running strong in the race. She has threatened nuclear attack on Iran. She voted for Kyl-Lieberman. She voted for the restriction and/or the total scuttling of our vaulted constitutional rights. She voted for the use of cluster bombs. She voted for tax cuts for the extremely wealthy and against taxing out of control corporate profits. Hillary has been a neo con enabler in word and deed. She's not called Bush Lite for no good reason.

The one who is weak and afraid and needs powerful figures like Oprah, NBC, and Ted Kennedy to move him forward, the same one who is going to get bullied and manipualted and pushed around by the power hubs IF he wins the White House.

Hillary's campaign is working like hell behind the scenes on the ground in Texas and Ohio. She even has a 527 group doing mailings for her. So all this talk about the campaign is failing is really another poor victim ploy. She is trying to set the scene for a comeback. It isn't over so if you are an Obama supporter, keep donating, keep calling. Don't believe the Hillary hype.

DISPATCHES FROM THE GROUND WAR ...

NEWSMAX REPORTING ...

Hillary Fails to File Full Slate for Pennsylvania Primary

Hillary Clinton’s supposedly well-organized presidential campaign failed to file a full slate of convention delegate candidates for what may be a crucial primary in Pennsylvania on April 22.

But it could have been worse if Gov. Ed Rendell — a Clinton supporter — hadn’t extended the filing deadline, citing “winter weather” and the “closure of interstates at various times.”

The original filing deadline was Feb. 12 at 5 p.m. At that point, the Clinton campaign was reportedly 21 delegate candidates short. Rendell extended the deadline to Feb. 14 at noon, allowing 10 more Clinton delegate candidates to file but still leaving the campaign 11 candidates short.

The extension “could be viewed as more than just coincidental,” John Baer notes in the Philadelphia Daily News.

Clinton’s rival Barack Obama did file a full slate in Pennsylvania.

Baer observes regarding the Clinton effort in the state: “For a national campaign stressing competence, experience, ‘ready day one,’ one might expect a full slate in what could be a key state…

“It seems to me, in a state that could be important, in a state known for bad winter weather, a forward-looking campaign might be, well, more forward-looking.”

Hillary's campaign has gone far beyond silly and into psychosis. She's the Bush clone in the Democratic Party. She has been consistent in her voting record in support for every neocon agenda put forth by the Bush administration, every offense against the constitutional rights of Americans, every GWB case of putting the interests of corporate America before the iinterests of the nation of America and her citizens. She voted for the invasion of Iraq, without even reading the NIE and proving she lacks the judgment to lead this country. Either she is by nature a chest thumping war monger who likes the idea of bombing people indiscriminately - and we have further evidence of this in her support for Israel's brutal oppression and occupation of the Palestinian people, her agreement that Israel is free to bomb the people of Lebanon or Syria at will, and her vote in support for the use of cluster bombs, a deadly device that victimizes the innocent for decades, most especially children. Or she is just not smart enough to see through the lies of the White House while Barack Obama and millions of Americans were. In either case, she is not ready to be president of the United States.
