Karl Rove: "CBS Is Now Sort Of The National Enquirer Of Network News"

Karl Rove appeared on today's premiere of Fox News' new election show, "America's Election HQ." At the tail end of his segment he addressed last night's controversial "60 Minutes" piece, which suggested that Rove worked through a Republican operative in Alabama to dig up dirt on the Governor there. Rove flatly denied the allegations and called CBS the "National Enquirer of network news," claiming that CBS never even called him for comment on the story.

That Karl Rove was able to rise to one of the most powerful positions in American politics today is a testimonial to how ethically bankrupt the current Administration is. This is the most corrupt and partisan Administration in US History!

After watching Tim Russert's performance, I'd say that NBC is trying to be the new Faux news channel. He could at least make an effort to appear impartial.

On a serious note, all of the 11 major tabloids (as of about 2004 or 2005) were owned by the same company. ALL of them. What does that do to his analogy?

Calling Karl Rove dishonest is like calling Hurricane Katrina a windy day. Karl Rove is a horrible human being, responsible directly and indirectly for human tragedy at home and abroad. I know Republicans love him cause he "sticks it to the democrats". And oh there they go those conspiracy theory loons. His supporters love what he does in the name of God.

I'm not a religious person but I do hope one day at the pearly gates, they look at his deeds, and he gets it stuck right back. Permanently. There are plenty sticks reserved for him and his friends.

It's interesting that they didn't show Rove's face when he began to answer the question: the producer is looking for the reaction shot, always.

Intersting also that Rove's comparing CBS to a tabloid would make him, by extension, the "Britany Spears" of this political season.

Unfortunately, McCain has already filled that position.

Standard Rove tactic: Call your critic the most disparaging name that most aptly describes yourself. The 60 minutes piece was truly disturbing and a barometer of just how far along the facist path this country has traveled under Bush II and company. The US Justice Department can now credibly be called the Department of Injustice and Political Oppression.
