Tilda Swinton Savors Oscar Victory With Young Lover Sandro

Oscar winner Tilda Swinton drew a standing ovation as she accepted Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film Michael Clayton.

But her biggest fan was sitting right next to her.

Swinton chose to attend last night's ceremony with the younger of her two lovers, artist Sandro Kopp.

Meanwhile her other man, 68-year-old John Byrne, stayed at home in the UK.

It was recently revealed that Swinton, Kopp and Byrne - who is the father of her ten-year-old twins, Xavier and Honor - all live in a ménage a trois style arrangement at her home in Nairn, Scotland.

If Tom Wilkinson had gotten the best supporting actor award, it would have been perfect. Ms. Swinton and Mr. Wilkinson were amazing in Michael Clayton. They made the movie.

What makes Tilda's appearance at the plastic glam show even more wonderful is that she's perfectly capable of being a conventional knockout - check her out in Derek Jarman's "Edward II" as the spurned Queen decked out in impeccable couture. It's pretty sad that as we tut tut Islamic women forced to wear burkas, a women in the US can't appear in public without her face behind a slathered-on mask of make-up. Tilda is a real artist, her tribute to Jarman is one of the most moving speeches ever by an actor. It's nice to have someone remind the world that real artists are not slaves to convention, fashion or money.

Then when Scott Ruddin wins for Best Picture, suddenly it's evil in 21st century America for an openly gay (and proud?) man to say, thanks and I want to thank my partner? Doesn't this make George Clooney's acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actor ("I'm proud to be a SAG member) extremely ridiculous? Now, will any power player in Hollywood have the guts to criticize the Academy and/or ABC for this? Not a chance in hell.
