Clinton: Insurance Discriminating Against Sick "Unconstitutional"

Hillary often discusses the unfairness built into the healthcare system: That discrimination by race and gender is barred, but that insurance companies are allowed to discriminate against the sick.

Today in Lorain, though, she either scrambled the line, or upped the ante: "I actually think that it's unconstitutional, what the insurance companies are doing," she said.

I have no medical insurance because the insurance companies deny me no matter what the cost. I have type II diabetes. I have been disciminated against for years. Why hasn't Hillary corrected this in 1993 when she was pushing her pushing her Health Care Plan. Oh I know her plan is in favor of the Insurance Companies. She is so full of crap. Her comment is nothing but a comment. She has no plans to correct the discrimination going on in this country. Look at Health Net. The just lost a 9 million dollar law suit for canceling a policy of a sick lady four or five years ago. We don't need Hillary: we need an honest person that will work to correct medical injustice in this country.

why hasn't she signed the pledge to restore civil liberties that have been put through the shredder by the bush administration? i'd say civil liberties are pretty central to the constitution.

This is funny coming from Hillary Clinton, the candidate who gets major donations from insurance companies. You don't have to be a constitutional lawyer to see there's nothing unconstitutional about discriminating against people who are sick. It may not be fair, but it's not against the constitution. Further proof that Hillary will say anything to get a vote.

Not having insurance for those who cannot afford it does go against the idea of "promote the general welfare" stated in the Preamble to the Constitution. More than that it makes no sense.

Unconstitutional?

Think she better check with Obama, a former constitutional law professor.

Or is she putting forth an amendment?

She could- but now we will have to contend with DODD and his HEALTH NET supporters

I guess the insurance companies handlers let her say that. She is about to hand the HMO's a huge subsidy with her health care plan.

Dodd raises money from the likes of Health Net executives. Boy oh Boy (no pun intended) Obama's health care plan is going to be a whopper- I bet Dodd can't wait to bring his buddies to the table. Just like Obama did with Exelon. www.politicalamnesia.blogspot.com

I'm all for people getting affordable health care, but what they are doing is not remotely unconstitutional. I mean seriously if you want to attack insurance companies for unconstitutional discrimination it would be auto insurance industry, which admits openly it bases your premium based on gender and age.
